This is one of my favorite furniture shops in the city. It has lots of antique, neo classical, Art Deco, Art Nouveau and rustic furniture, as well as other styles. Some of the pieces are very bold, and Lady Ga Ga would be happy to shop there. The prices can vary, but some pieces are very reasonably priced(especially the ones on sale.)

cheap: no. top quality: yes. is there any point in spending $ 500 for a couch at the brick when you will have to replace it every couple of years? instead, invest some money and be comfortable for decades. if you cannot afford a brand new barrymore, go to their clearance room upstairs where they sell showroom pieces for a significant discount(like i did).

I was here for an event and loved browsing the furniture store. Though it is on the higher end(made in Canada, handcrafted, some imported from Europe), it was great to see the various styles and what you can do with your space at home. The showroom was just incredible, especially the room w/the different fabrics. It was quite overwhelming as there were so many samples. But the staff are so knowledgeable, patient and friendly, they’d be able to assist you at any time. We were told that the pieces can be custom to even fit in your condo space! That was nice to hear. When we were shopping for furniture, that was always our problem. Finding something that’s not too large for a condo. I would love to be back someday instead of buying plywood furniture made with too much harsh chemicals and get something here instead. If you are looking for more of a discount on some amazing pieces, also check their back room. There were some great finds there. Can’t wait to be back soon

***Review is only based on browsing.*** The«Beautiful Furniture» written on their sign, underneath their name, says it all. Their furniture IS beautiful and, in addition, it’s made in Canada. Their showroom is absolutely breathtaking, so much to look at. Sales staff is on commission, but Mira(??) wasn’t pushy or in yo’ face at all. She also advised that all the furniture has a life-time warranty on the frame and that the frame for a certain Bergere chair was made in Italy, while the rest is made in-house. The style is more Classic/Traditional, so if it was even in the budget, I’m not sure my entire house would be from this store.(I like a more Modern/Contemporary style.) It’s not stuffy and I’m pretty sure everything can be customised. Sofas/chairs that I did sit on were very comfortable and down-filled, I believe. Barrymore is definitely a furniture store for grown-ups…with prices to match. Average prices were ~$ 500+ for occasional chairs and ~$ 3000 – 4000 for sofas. So not cheap, but I’d say a much better investment than some of those furniture stores downtown! Hint: If you’re looking for random pieces, check out the back of their store for their«Clearance» section. Prices were a bit cheaper, but non-customisible.

When it comes to making purchases, there are two schools of thought — buy cheap and buy often, or pay a reasonable amount for a product that stands the test of time. Shops selling the former are everywhere, but it’s far more difficult to find a company that crafts products that will last generations. Buying quality products affords a greater sense of satisfaction, but its also a more cost effective approach that is easier on the environment. Barrymore Furniture was our first stop when looking at furnishing our new house, and there was no need to look any further. Their helpful staff took the time to understand our needs and budget, assisted us with colour and material choices, and kept us informed every step of the way throughout the manufacturing and delivery process. We live in an older house with unusual proportions, and the ability to customize our furniture to the unique dimensions of our rooms was invaluable. And the customization didn’t stop there. They also custom-fit a wonderful cushion in the same fabric for the odd-shaped bench nestled in our bay window. Seven years later our furniture still looks like it came off the showroom floor — no mean feat with 2 active children! Quality, selection and service isn’t important to everyone, but if it’s important to you, I highly recommend a trip to Barrymore Furniture. You won’t be disappointed!

In a city filled with low-end, condo-sized furniture it’s refreshing to find a store that caters to grown-up sizes and grown-up tastes. Once upon a time, this review would have been written about the Bay or Eatons, which carried huge stocks of fine furniture in real wood, real leather and real heft. You could outfit a house from kitchen to bedroom to living to dining with a sweep of the floor, and be confident that your order would arrive on time, at no extra charge. Today’s Toronto furniture scene is all too often a race to the bottom. Trendoids favour cheap laquers and plastic; apartment dwellers downsize to dollhouse proportions, and even the Bay stocks a distressing selection of assembly required furniture. If I want to build furniture, I will chop down a majestic oak with my bare hands, like Black Jack Shellac in the old Warner Brothers Cartoons(bonus points if you got that reference without looking it up). Instead, I go to Barrymore; a vast warehouse with rooms tastefully laid out. The furniture is solidly constructed. It takes a pounding and still looks great. Leather is richly dyed and sofas are plumply stuffed. A coffee table anchors the centre of my living room. It is the best part of the room, when my girlfriend is absent. If you’re the sort who redecorates on a whim, Barrymore is probably not your cup of tea. If you want to invest in high-quality furniture buttressed by excellent service, then brew yourself a pot o’ Barrymore.

I have purchased a few items from this shop. They are very helpful and I love the fact that they help you select from thousands of fabrics to create the look you want. LOVE the pieces I bought!!! Canadian made!
