This really pains me as I wanted to like Blo so so much but… I just couldn’t. The magazines are all torn up, the counters are covered with hairbrushes full of hair, and the disposable towels are AWFUL. I wanted some loose curls for an event that evening, and instead I got some big 70’s style curls. May I add that I have a bob so this just looked. different? Luckily they all fell out on my 10 minute walk home(?!?) so I ran a straightener through my hair and went to my event. Other notes: I pointed out to my stylist where I usually part my hair(more to one side), she responded«I know, no problem» and then proceeded to do a center part. My stylist kept leaving me to answer the phone/talk to people walking by in the Path. I really wish I had read the Unilocal reviews before going as it appears I’m not the only one to have a rough experience here.

This place is mediocre at best. I don’t know if they gave me their most inexperience hairdresser but she blow-dried and curled my hair and it barely lasted until the evening(when I go to my normal hairdresser, it can last up to 5 days). I ended up just having to fix my hair on my own which was pretty annoying. I would recommend finding a real salon if you want you hair done and skip this place.

Once in a while you come across a place which makes you search for that ZERO rating star on Unilocal and bang it profusely like a wild Monkey! I walked into the Exchange Tower Path location to give my hair a nice blo. It’s called a blo bar, they don’t cut hair, all they do is blo, how hard can it be? Right?! WRONG!!! Right away in the middle of my blo dry the girl who was trying to tame my hair leaves by saying she has a bride to do?! Really if you have a bride to do why are you doing me this early in the morning??? Hey am all for three way!!! So she runs off. Leaving me with this pregnant girl who was due for her PEE break… So as she gets hold of my last strand of hair, which now at this time is more frizzy and mop head like. she has the audacity to ask me… Do you like it!!! My response to that was I could of done this to my hair half blind, half drunk at home but thank you. I paid 42 $ to get the most worse service ever… I mean ever… Just like their name Exchange Tower blo bar on King St… BLOWS!!!

This is a great location. I’m not sure why this location has received so many bad reviews. I had a great blowout and all blowouts I saw going out the door were perfect! Located inside of a subway station, next to brand new shops including a beautiful nail bar. Highly recommend!

Pros: –The place is open early and can usually fit me in if I request an appointment the day before — Some of the stylists are quite good Cons: — They frequently run late in the mornings, so you can get there for 7:30 and sit waiting until 7:45 or even 8:00 — They use disposable paper towels, so the back of my shirt is always made wet — They need more magazines — The stylists are assigned randomly, so it’s hard to get a consistent result. Some of the stylists are way too rough with my hair and I don’t think that the tools used are the best quality. The hair dryers are particularly bad. Also, some stylists disregard your request and just do whatever they want. I had that happen today. I wanted a sleek blowout with volume and slight bend at the ends. I got Texas hair instead. When I said that it was too much, the stylist tried to straighten parts of it. The result was not good. I feel like I totally wasted my money.

Extremely disappointed. Not only way the style not well done, but as a result my hair is broken and damaged. I now have tons of broken-off fly-aways, including a piece in the very front of my hair that the stylist must have broke off while styling. Does not know how to properly use a round brush and as a result my hair will take months to mend and grow out.

This was my 2nd time at this location, and will be the last time! My guess is that these establishments just hire any young girl or guy who loves to style hair and has no real experience in how to handle different types of hair on different people. I didn’t see any credentials hanging on any walls, so I could ATLEAST have seen someone was a STUDENT there! But no… The girl I had was blowdrying my hair in such a rush, she could barely get the roller brush through my hair. Now — my hair is thick, but not THAT thick! I asked for waves, and I got exactly what I walked in with. The exact same hair I had. A boring bob. Not to mention the whole top of my forehead has little tiny scrapes on it, from her being so VIOLENT with the roller brush! *********DONOTGOTOTHISPLACETOGETYOURHAIRDONE!***********

This is my 3rd time at this location. The first was a 3 star experience; the second turned out to be a 5 star experience. The third was very disappointing. I told the stylist exactly what I wanted(because that was what I liked about the second 5-star experience). I gave up requesting how I wanted my hair blown-out(i.e. with large brushes as curlers) because she felt she knew my hair better than I did. Basically, since I know my hair better than any stylist, this blow-out will not last as long because my hair has been pulled too much into submission and is frizzy. I had to ask for holding product, twice(!), and even then, it was a quick spritz and toss through my hair. Since I was given an 8-pack gift certificate for Christmas, I will book the 5-star stylist on my next visit. IMO, hit or miss if you just walk-in and the pretentious attitude of the employees is sometimes way too much. Tone it down, people, listen to your customers and act like professionals.

I recently discovered Blo Blow Dry Bar. While the norm of getting your hair done can go up to $ 100+ for an updo — Blo Blow Dry Bar makes chic, affordable! While they only have 2 updos(high society — think Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s and a high ponytail) on their standard hair menu($ 35) — you can ring them a photo of any coif and they will charge you $ 65. I got the High Society updo for a fundraiser, and my girl really took her time doing my hair. At one point, she didn’t like it, and started all over again. You can’t ask for much more for $ 35! They are the busiest in the mornings and at lunch, so if you need to get your hair done during those hours, BOOKAHEAD. They are located 2 stores down from the Swarovski down the hall.

They are not very professional here. Was put on hold and forgot about, they didn’t have anyone for me until 15 – 20 minutes after my appointment time and the girl who blow dried my hair clearly had very little experience or technical skill. Could have gone anywhere else.
