Still my favourite place to grab coffee … try the Blanco Bulldog with a shot of espresso :-)

Kind of surprised after scanning the reviews here which mention the grumpy owner, because I had a perfectly pleasant experience here with the guy who I assume is the owner. I asked if he could make me a coloured latte(I saw pictures on Instagram) and he seemed enthusiastic and thrilled to do so, even encouraging me to come around to the side and watch the pour, which was lovely as all the colours started to blend together. We made some pleasant small-talk, and overall he just seemed very friendly and smiley as he told me about how he’s the first and so far only person in Toronto doing these coloured lattes. You can tell that he’s passionate and proud of and loves what he does. Afterwards as I was eating and drinking my food, I heard him interacting with other customers and he seemed perfectly nice. Anyways. I’m not a big coffee drinker and I wish I’d asked for a flavoured latte, because I probably would have enjoyed it more. But whatever, it still tasted good and the coloured art was beautiful so I was pleased. I also got a chocolate toffee scone which was tasty — I liked that it wasn’t too crumbly or too greasy, but was still nice and moist. The small toffee bits in the scone had a bit of a crunch, which added some excitement to the texture. I want to come back to try their nutella latte and other baked goods! The prices were very reasonable, $ 6.50 for a medium latte and scone.

I love this place! They have THEBEST lattes and chocolate croissants I have ever tasted. The croissants are made fresh in store and they are melt in your mouth delicious. Find it a little surprising that people are saying the owner is rude. I have not had that experience at all the multiple times I’ve been there he was very nice and pleasant however that could be because I am signing his praises. My only complaint would be the time I tried to buy 3 croissants and the guy working(not the owner) said he could only sell me 1 as they only make a few at a time. That and they only take cash. Tried: — Chocolate Croissants — best thing ever! — Regular Croissants — Marshmallow brownies — soooooooo good and not too sweet — Chai and vanilla lattes

Came here Jan 2015. Barista wasn’t very friendly, but my cappuccino was pretty good.

Don’t listen to the haters. Stuart serves the best espressos and lattes in Toronto, period. Yes, he is a character and can be a little grumpy if you don’t show respect for his craft. Just play along and take a minute to truly taste and enjoy the perfect shot he just prepared for you. You won’t find this level of commitment to quality anywhere else, including other third wave coffee shops. And his exclusive blend is one of the best I have tasted, fits the taste profile I love.

Thank you thank you thank you for opening this amazing coffee shop. For everyone who’s sick of filter coffee chains and is craving the perfect cappuccino this is the place. Also the owner makes a mean brownie and apparently named the place after his dog!

I’ve been won over by the Bulldog. Sure, the guy can be a little grumpy, but it’s actually kind of endearing now. Also, their coffee is truly amazing — my favourite is the almond milk Bulldog — and his scones are delicious. I’m also a little sad that the original location has been displaced by yet another condo development — but glad that it’s been able to reopen on Gerrard. Still cash only and still adorable bulldog décor!

I have been to many restaurants or coffee shops in many countries. But I have never been to a place as rude as this. Actually, I should use the word«mean» instead. My friend wanted to meet me there for coffee one time. I got there first, but he was running a few minutes late. So the staff really rudely told me that I have to buy something if I wanted to sit there. I was there to have coffee with my friend so I didn’t want to finish my drink before he got there. I told him I’d wait till he gets there first. The guy started yelling at me if anyone else come by I’d have to buy something or leave. Then someone came by in a minute, the guy behind the counter started banging on the table and screaming at me asking me to make a decision. So I just bought a tea. If I wasn’t waiting for my friend that day I would have just left. There really was no need for that kind of vicious behavior, treating people like they are not human. Reading the comments here I see that it’s not because staff is having a bad day that day. I think it’s their toxic culture with their abusive boss treating everyone like shit then the staffs take it out on their customers doesn’t matter how good their coffee is, no one should support a place like that.

Came here last month for an espresso something… Can’t really remember what it was, but it was good and had the little intricate foam tree drawn on the top of the coffee(always a neat touch). I’ve heard some horror-stories about service here, but the dude serving me was both chill and polite. Espresso was also strong without being overpowering, the way I like it!

Was greeted by two friendly staff. Good coffee, got the bulldog. Not much seating area more of a take out place. It smelt great in there from the baking. Stronger and creamier than Starbucks.

I’ve been to Bulldog countless times due to its proximity to my home and school. In general I’ve always been very satisfied. Sometimes service is better than other times, but the drinks are always remarkable and worth any kind of sass a busy barrister may inflict. Today I stopped by the new location at 64 Gerrard and was met with a fresh new space and a very friendly Stuart. I think I’ll miss the side street Café feeling, but the new space has its own charm and feels just as comfortable and I’m looking forward to stopping by regularly. And because it’s what matters the most: the double espresso was just as fantastic as always.

Went to go try the coffee after a friend recommended it. Disliked that the owner was rude to his employee and then me. Left empty-handed after I ordered and was notified that it is cash-only, despite a lack of signage. Won’t be back.

I’m so conflicted about this place… The coffee(all espresso-based products) is definitely pretty good. The owner who always seems to be working is consistently rude to both customers and employees alike. On my last visit, I had a rather delicious Americano(closer to the Australian long black with less water). The owner though was kind of a jerk to me and then gave my change in coins so that I could tip… umm…I’m not tipping you after you were a jerk. He also always has a very young immigrant Asian woman working for him which he continually berates and scolds publicly… I find this very unsettling on many levels. So, I go for the coffee occasionally, but not nearly as often as I would if the owner would act like a human being.

This is a conflicted review, specifically about the original location on Granby Street. First, the pros: — My double Americano was delicious, smooth, and I like the option of being able to decide how much hot water goes in it — I had a croissant to go with it, which was baked to buttery perfection The cons: — It’s a little on the pricey side but the quality makes this more tolerable — The owner is a bit of a jerk. Seriously. I’d give this an easy four stars if someone else had been working the counter when I arrived but that unfortunately wasn’t the case. I thought he was just disinterested at first(it was early in the morning, after all) but after watching him engage with a few more clients I realized that he was just mean. It was almost like people weren’t thanking him enough when he gave them with their beverage! If you don’t mind your coffee with a double shot of pretentiousness in it, this is an amazing café to go. For my money, I’d sooner support an independent coffee house that actually appreciates its clients. Hell, I’d sooner support a chain that appreciated it had clients. I won’t be going back.

Came here last week for coffee. Small place with maybe 4 – 5 tables(max). The latte was pretty good; the latte art is definitely a ‘plus’ in my books. As others have mentioned, it’s in between Mt Pleasant and Yonge so you will pass 2, 3 other coffee shops(both ways) as you make your way to Bulldog. The baked goods looked delicious. I didn’t have any, but my pal had the marshmallow brownie and she said that it was super tasty. The salads don’t look too bad either. For now, it’s a three-star, but this will change if I go back and eat some of their baked goods.
