I had a jerk chicken roti from this cart for lunch. The roti was absolutely delicious. The chicken was saucy and yummy. It was a bit sweet for jerk, but still tasted incredible. It was served in roti with mango salad and lettuce. The lady preparing the food only has room to heat up one roti at a time so it can take a while. The line was steadily growing longer as we waited for our food. You may wish to go for an early lunch or late lunch to avoid lines.

These ladies are amazing! On Tuesdays and Thursdays(when it’s not raining) you can find them at the south east side of Bay & King, beside the hot dog stand. I have been here twice and really enjoyed my lunch both times. On my first visit I had the jerk chicken roti, which was absolutely amazing. Tender pieces of spicy jerk chicken with mango salad and lettuce. I asked for my roti spicy, and it had a kick to it but was by no means off the charts. The roti was perfectly prepared and had just the right amount of fillings. I went back for another try today and had the curry beef roti. The curry sauce was delicious and had just the right amount of kick to it. The beef was cut in large chunks and was very tender and flavourful. I sometimes find myself hungry by 3pm or so and this is definitely not the case with Carib Fusion. For $ 8 you can’t go far wrong, and as they are only there when the weather is good, I would suggest that you try it out before they disappear for the winter season. A solid four stars and I can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu!

Jerk chicken in a nice chewy roti wrap with sweet mango salad inside to offset the heat(not like I need heat-offsetting but whatev). not really a fan of cilantro but I can’t complain. It’s $ 8 She asked if I wanted it hot and I said«as hot as you can make it» and she was all«you shouldn’t say things like that» and I was all«bring it – if it’s not hot enough I’ll let you know next time»… So, it was up there but I’ll let her know that I was only sweating slightly from under my eyes(not from my scalp and the rest of my body as I should) so she has some work to do if she wants to, well, how she puts it, «burn [my] shorts off» ;)

On hot sunny days, you’ll find a serious line up at the corner of King and Bay, long enough to get stares from passers-by wondering what they’re missing. Those not in the know(a surprising many, considering how central this food cart is) is delicious Carribean food, including roti and jerk. JERKCHICKENWRAP($ 7 I think) The jerk chicken is accented with mango salad and all wrapped up. Not the biggest fan of jerk, but it’s pretty tasty. ROTI(I think it’s $ 8 or $ 9) I’m a huge roti fan, which is what brings me to this cart. The roti itself is fantastic; thin, chewy, hot and tasty. Filling options are curry chicken or sweet potato and shrimp. I’ve never had the latter. The curry chicken roti is definitely not the best I’ve ever had, but it is certainly the best I’ve had in the financial district! Compared to my beloved Kori’s in Oakville, this is average food and it’s a bit expensive– however, so is the cost of setting up a cart at King and Bay, so I’ll swallow those complaints with a mouthful of convenient and satisfying Carib Fusion! I’ll udpate with accurate prices next summer when this cart comes rollin back into my life ;)

In good weather at King and Bay, you can find Bridgette Pinder serving up delicious roti from her Carib Fusion cart, a survivor of the ill-fated Toronto A La Cart program. I’ve managed to get though the entire menu listed on the side of the cart — but there are some specials I’ve yet to try. Their primary offering — jerk chicken — is colourful, sweet, and spicy. While you can get this on a pita, don’t. The roti wrap consists of thin, just-chewy, layers and is delicious. With sweetness coming from the mango salad stuffed alongside the jerk chicken, fire comes from the option of hot sauce. I had ordered this last year and asked for it HOT. Now, my tolerance for spice is pretty high, but this was mouth-melting. Subsequent orders haven’t matched that level of nuclear heat since, and I’m torn. I sort of want to see if I could manage that tasty five-alarm fire again. Other items are the chicken roti(I prefer the beef curry one), beef patties(flaky exterior, light on the filling), and grilled pineapple dusted with cinnamon for a sweet finish. All this is well and good, but I’ll let you in on a little secret: it’s actually what’s not listed that keeps me coming back. You see, it’s their shrimp and pumpkin roti: a hot and curried mixture studded with chunks of snappy shrimp, creamy pumpkin, and just a hint of sweetness. Every time I unwrap this roti, a delicious and savoury smell wafts up and whets my appetite — right before I tear into that fat envelope of goodness. Really tasty and filling. Another off-menu item is the rice and oxtail curry on Fridays — so I hear. I haven’t quite managed to get there on the right day for this, but I’ll keep trying and consoling myself with the shrimp and pumpkin instead. Find Bridgette Monday to Friday when rain isn’t on the horizon. (x-posted on the blog)

Recent menu changes at Carib Fusion: Every Tuesdays and Thursdays, their curry roti is made with beef, instead of chicken. Also, on Fridays, they have a special dish of oxtail, rice and peas.

I read Stephanie’s review and realized this cart is across the street from my workplace. She is absolutely right that the warm weather has people frequenting this cart. When my friend and I showed up for lunch today, there was a line, albeit a small one. I ordered a jerk chicken roti. I opted for the spicy and boy did it live up to its name! That was some nose-running, tongue-burning, glad I had my water bottle close spice! I was early grinning between bites. The jerk chicken was delicious. I didn’t really like the roti skin so next time I will go for the pita option. But the food was so good that there will definitely be a next time.
