Christines Fitness & Personal Trainer

I came here with a friend on a research mission trying to investigate different gyms. I’ll preface this by saying that I’ve never been a fan of gyms — between the grunting, pyramid scheme type memberships, and grotty conditions, I’d rather just go to a local community centre. I read a couple reviews that Christine’s was a little classier.
That being said, we walked in, and It looked nice enough for a gym and had some nice showers, but seemed a bit weird that there were gilded curtain rods and French café chairs scattered about. Fine. There was an absence of grunting, and it was obnoxiously cold. (women don’t sweat, they «glow», right?) There was also a tapestry of some kind of cat. (maybe a cougar… maybe a tiger… maybe appropriate.) This looked like the place where older women would go to before heading over to Thursday nights at Crocodile Rock.
The facilities seemed fine, but what drove me up the wall was that the salesperson there, who I don’t recall the name of, was SO AGGRESSIVE. She pretty much forced us to take some kind of body fat test for us to prove to her that we were not overweight (we aren’t, and were just looking for general fitness.) She pressured us to sign a contract right away to make use of a deal that would HEAVEN FORBID expire that afternoon. Come on!
Even at this allegedly «classy» establishment, why the pressure still? It was like being at a used car lot designed for women.
