Coco rogue has been a great date or girls night out spot with great cocktails and fabulous desserts, cheese, etc. The space is beautiful, and I love the guy on the piano. Great voice! I’m really excited that they’ve just added a lunch and dinner menu. I had their mole root stew the other night & it was fabulous. My friend had the beef stew & enjoyed it as well. It tends to get really busy late at night, but maybe with the addition of the food menu it will be busier earlier as well. Great addition to the neighborhood.

They have 2 specialty hot chocolates: Canadiana(classic, at $ 7) and Mayan(spicy, at $ 6) and an option for a 1.5 oz. thick, rich chocolate shot($ 5). I got a Mayan hot chocolate to go. It was pretty decent and much much better than Starbucks or Tim’s but nothing that blew me away. For $ 7 I expected a bit more flavour and richness. Delight on Queen West and Soma Chocolatier in the Distillery make a better fancy hot chocolate. Both of those places serve hot chocolate that is much richer and flavourful. They have a nice atmosphere though and it sometimes looks bumpin’ at night. They have chocolate platters. Looks like a good place to go for night life if you like chocolate. I would come back if I’m craving hot chocolate and don’t feel like venturing off too far, and may come back to check out the night life.

One update to my review, after spending an evening there… The music needs some serious re-consideration. I was stopped mid-sentence when the music went to Heavy metal, followed by cheesy 90’s songs, including, «Tootsie Roll» OMG– disgusting selection and no flow. Get a DJ a la BarChef or pick a theme and stick to it. (If the theme you pick includes Metal or Cheesy 90’s I’m not coming back, though.) Live music starts around 10pm and is decent, singer is cute and has a nice voice. The crowd eventually filed in and by 11pm, the main floor and upstairs were packed. If you want to reserve a spot, call well ahead and they’ll set up a table or a few couches for you upstairs. I was pleased with the prices, though. For 10 people, lots of drinks and chocolate pieces, only $ 200 or so!
