Came in for hair color, and didn’t get what I wanted. Didn’t notice that the back of my head had a big blotch of hair color, and I dished out almost $ 300 for the color. I went to another hair stylist who told me it would cost $ 60+ to fix up the color because the coloring was off, especially at the back of my head. So I have to spend more money JUST to have the color back to one shade(at the back) and then re-do it to the color i originally wanted. The people were nice but that doesn’t matter — I would rather have had good hair color, especially for the amount of money i paid.

I can’t believe my hair. I am embarrassed to go out its so bad. Instead of a bayalage my hair is just a gross blonde underneath my brown, and 3 stripes of blonde at the top that are not blended. What’s worse is it cost $ 400 for the worst dye job of my life. My regular stylist, who gives me nice ombres and cuts for less than $ 300, would have been cheaper. I wouldn’t have got it if I knew the price but they told me halfway through my appointment. Now I have to go get my hair colour fixed so this ordeal is going to cost me 2 weeks pay almost. Seriously, I can’t even believe this place. I wish I could get my money back.

For a salon that specializes in COLOURING, these people don’t know what they’re doing and the place itself seemed pretty much like a joke. I read many good reviews before deciding to come here, but I wish I had read the good and bad ones beforehand. The people who worked here were friendly but listening to them talk almost 3 hours about the Kardashians and their jibber jabber gave me a headache and probably killed a few brain cells. The owner seemed nice and was the one who mixes the all dyes and colouring. He listened to me and was understanding. Having said that, I came here to dye my hair blonde and gave them a very thorough description of what I wanted… but somehow I walked out with ORANGE. The colour was 200% off. They all kept telling me how nice it looked once it was done but I could see it in their faces that they were as shocked as I was. I had get it redone at another salon after I explained to them my horrible experience here. I should also mention that I had to blowdry and style my OWN hair after the final wash. You would think that after dishing out over $ 120 for a colour job, someone would be able to blowdry it for you(especially when there are 4 employees and I was the only client.) But they just handed me a comb and blowdryer at the«style station» while they watched me do it myself. Ridiculous. Never again.

I went to the Color Lab a while ago to get some highlights. My hair is dyed dark brown(nearly black) and at one time I’d had espresso highlights in it. I returned to one all-over colour eventually because it was easier to maintain, but eventually I wanted those espresso highlights back. I figured a salon specializing in colour would be a good place to go. I couldn’t have been more wrong. I walked in and there were three men working there, I was the only client. The man who was doing my hair told me how he’d trained at the Vidal Sassoon Academy and really talked up his skills. I felt like I was in good hands. I told him what I wanted(espresso coloured highlights) and he told me it wouldn’t be a problem. The three men were crowded around me the entire time, chatting with me. Once my hair had processed they washed it/toned it and asked if I wanted to have my hair blow dried for an additional cost. I can’t remember how much it cost, but I really didn’t want to spend too much money, so I declined. I was directed over to a blowdry station where I could do it myself. Once this happened the attitude of the guys seemed to change. They stopped talking to me or acknowledging me. A new client walked in and they all gravitated over to her. As my hair began to dry I was finally able to get a good look at my highlights, and to my horror they were extremely brassy golden yellow. It was as if they’d just bleached my hair, put some toner on it, and that was it. They were not even close to being any type of brown, let alone the espresso I had wanted. They were this disgusting golden yellow color! I couldn’t believe it. I’d had the exact highlights I’d wanted done before, so I knew it was possible. I have no idea what happened, but it was a disaster. I tried to calm myself down as I began panicking internally, telling myself I just needed to get used to them and they really weren’t that bad. Meanwhile none of the three men checked in on me, they were still swarmed around the new client. I found this really rude. Why are three people only giving attention to one client and ignoring the other? I walked over to the cash register and waited until one of the guys acknowledged that I still existed. He didn’t say anything about my hair, just processed my payment and that was it. I left feeling unhappy with my hair, and very annoyed with the staff. I got home and my family asked what had happened to my hair. The highlights looked dirty and stringy, not to mention extremely brassy and golden. After a couple days I went to a different salon and returned to one all-over dark colour. I haven’t been back to the Colour Lab since & won’t ever recommend it.

Stay away! The first time I tried them, I was unhappy with my hair colour but gave them a second chance because they were really nice. The 2nd visit, they ruined my hair! I asked for the ‘orangey’ part that they did last time, to be fixed and to ‘break up’ the blonde with a warmer darker colour. They made me Bleach blonde with a product that burned my scalp for the 25 mins I sat there. The blonde was beautiful but not what I wanted! He said, no problem, I’ll fix it. He basically made my hair orangey-strawberry. It is absolutely disgusting. If he didn’t know how to fix it, he shouldn’t have tried. I walked out $ 200 hundred dollars and 3 hours of my time wasted! I went back in when they opened on Sat morning and was told to come back later ‘for a consultation’! He wouldn’t even take me! He went on again about how beautiful that blonde was and basically told me we weren’t on the same page! I guess he has SO many other clients that he doesn’t need to care about me. I talked to 3 other reputable salons in Yorkville who fit me in even though they were booked because my birthday party was that night and they felt bad my hair was so hideous. Bottom line, they will go on about their wonderful Goldwell product, their impressive schooling and use ‘industry-speak’ to sound like they know what they’re talking about but they don’t listen to what you want. They do what THEY want! And clearly have no idea what they’re doing with their colours. I have been highlighting and colouring my hair for 25 yrs. Never have I had an issue with anywhere else I’ve gone in Toronto. I’m sure he’ll reply to this post with another reason why he was right in ruining my hair.

I’m sorry but these people don’t know what they’re doing. They were very nice and warm, which is why I gave them 2 stars. I went in to get a bad dye job fixed… I told them I wanted to go back to my brown hair, but did not want red at all. They said no problem, and proceeded to give me the REDDEST hair i’ve ever had… I might even call it ‘paprika’. It’s the holiday season so lots of social gatherings, and everyone has been commenting on how red my hair is now. Like, the first thing they say to me…‘WOW! Holy red head!!’…so it’s clearly not me being fussy. Very disappointed, because they really did put me at ease that they could fix it ;((I should also mention I was at the Yorkville location, not the Rosedale location)
