I came here for a Jewish comedy show last night and it was a really good crowd. Some of the comedians were really funny and the atmosphere was nice. It was unfortunate that everyone could not get a seat. Everyone had paid for their ticket, so I expected us all to have seats but this wasn’t the case. Many people were standing. The bar seemed okay. It was a nice cozy bar featuring rich deep wood along the walls and tables I believe. We didn’t stay to drink here as the lounge area was packed but I would definitely come back to try their regular comedy shows.

Learned of this place off of Groupon. Pretty good deal. $ 20 for two general admissions with $ 20 worth of food. Got the chicken sandwich and perogies. The perogies were very delicious and filling as well. I watched Helder Brum and friends in the cabaret room. It was very tiny but the way it was set up was very intimate and it felt like you were a part of something fun, not just an audience member at a show. There was only one booth at the very back with a table so we had to eat our food out of take out containers on our laps. That part could have been better but it wasn’t a huge problem for us. Our favourite part was the lamb chops puppet show! Hilarious and very entertaining. The comedians that were featured that night(Dec 19) were all pretty funny. Got some good laughs out of us. The music performances were nice and soothing. I didn’t quite get the humor in the storytelling portion. It was more awkward than funny for me but maybe that’s what they were going for. Overall, I enjoyed it and would consider returning without the Groupon deal. Their food was very reasonably priced. Want to go back for the perogies :)

Absolutely the best place for comedy anywhere. Fun, casual atmosphere, great food, great staff. They bring in the best talent, local and otherwise. Never have a bad night here.

Came to Comedy for an Improv Night hosted by a friend of mine! I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I loved the intimate lay-out and feel of the Cabernet Room where I show took place. Will definitely be returning for future events and will remember to come hungry, as a few people raved about the food while we were there.

A simple but great comedy club. I was here for JFL42 recently, it’s a really intimate space for a show. There’s 2 spaces for the show the«main space» and the cabaret space with a smaller capacity. I’ve never been in the cabaret space, but the main space is incredibly intimate with capacity for about 100 people. In the very back there’s tables if you were to order food. In the front there’s multiple rows of seats, and a slightly elevated stage. Comedy Bar is simple and do book some great up and coming comedians and the occasional big name. I’d definitely come back!

When I asked the bartender what was on tap, she said«those 10» and pointed towards the taps insinuating that I was to leave my seat and go look for myself. In all my years never had I had been told to go look for myself. Being a former bartender myself, I was apauld. Sorry, you lost my business.

The Bartender was rude, on her phone the whole time. The drinks we ordered were brutal I don’t think she knew what she was doing. We ordered a long island iced Tea in which we could only taste the tequila. The comedy was way over priced. 10 $ for an hour of not so funny comedy. The show we attended«Cage Match» wasn’t designed well. The comedians have a 20ishmin time frame to just improvise which sounds fun until they end up spending that time in comedy purgatory, not sure what they are doing. I’d never go to this bar again.

Comedy Bar is one of those neighbourhood gems that makes Bloorcourt such a charming and dynamic place to live. Simultaneously, it’s one of Canada’s best indie comedy clubs and hosts unbelievable star-powered events. I’ve seen some great local comics here, and events like Catch-23 Improv and Gilmore Girlprov are delightful and affordable. The pro-am night is great. The stuff happening in the Cabaret space is always weird and wonderful. I’ve also seen some crazy things here. There was the night that Greg Proops captivated us for what seemed like hours — how does that man just keep talking? What must the inside of his head be like? There was the semi-secret Eddie Izzard show, where he tested out his new material on a riveted crowd. Then there was the time we went to a taping of The Nerdist podcast during JFL42 at the Princess Elizabeth Theatre, and Chris Hardwick & co. were dying to leave their own podcast because they’d heard that Louie CK was doing a spontaneous show at Comedy Bar. Legendary. I like comedy, but I’m not a scene insider and I don’t know anyone who works or performs at Comedy Bar personally. It’s just one of those places that always makes me feel like I’m part of something great. The staff is attentive. The beer selection and the menu are solid pub comfort food. Blanche de Chambly on tap! Go to C-Bar. Laugh your head off. Buy a beer. Support it forever.

Small venue, only been once. Russell Howard was brilliant, opening comedians were OK. The queue was unexpectedly long and there’s not much room inside when waiting. The seats aren’t great for watching a show. Besides the queue and the seats, we had good time and it is a nice little comedy bar.

I get drunk here and they let me play Night Moves by Bob Seger whenever I’m there. The staff is the absolute best for that reason. The owner tells long stories sometimes. He’s the sort guy who wears hats. One time I saw a dog inside.

They seriously need to get some proper ventilation up in here. Or hire a new cook. It smelled like burnt food the whole time. My eyes stung from all the smoke and my clothes were infused with the smell when I got home. Ew. Such a pet peeve of mine. On top of that, the Gilmour Girls improv show was cringe-worthy. I want my $ 5 back. And the rude bartender blatantly ignored me and served 2 customers who came up to the bar way after me… I won’t be back unless my friends beg me to.

I’ve seen many great acts here. Tickets for shows have never been more than funeral dollars. Also, the beers yet have on tap are a great deal which is always a nice surprise is some comsdy shows tend to jack up alcohol costs. Favourite show is catch 23. Hilarious and frequent. Every first fri of month. Atmosphere is small and intimate. Type of place where comedians interact w audience which I love. Worth it every show!

I want to give this place a way better review, as I’ve seen some good shows there. However, last time I went, I put my credit card behind the bar to open a tab, and they completely lost my credit card. They told me that they’ve lost cards before and can usually find them. After reassuring me that they always find it in the morning when it’s less crowded, etc, they called the next day to inform me that my card was, indeed, nowhere to be found. What a way to put a bitter taste to the end of an otherwise good night. Anyway, I would highly advise others to keep an eye on your payment method at all times here because the bartenders are clearly not organized enough to do so.

This seems like an awesome little place to see a show with a great, dimly lit bar, cool, young crowd, and hip young staff, but unfortunately the online ticket buying system left my friend and me without a show to see. It was sold out, despite us buying tickets, and at a completely different time – so strange! The cashier seemed confused and less-than-eager to help us, though she did refund our money voluntarily. It was a little off-putting that when asking if we might be able to catch the next show, she said no, it was sold out, but when another person approached the ticket window right after us and asked for«just one ticket» to the same show, she got it. I would still love to go to a show here sometime, they have a cool selection and a very full schedule of events, with both cabaret and improv offerings.

Fun place. Good comedians(Superstars of Comedy, the show I saw, was hilarious). Decently priced drinks. Friendly bartenders. Get there early so you don’t have to stand around while you wait.

Everyone who comes here knows performers in some way or the other. It’s a great little venue — small spaces, intimate. Very word of mouth. Great place to grab a drink and a laugh at a really reasonable price.

Great comedy venue. Almost all of the seats are on the same level, so it can be difficult to see around people. Anyone who is shorter should look for a seat at the front The sound system is very loud. Bring ear plugs as it can be a bit overwhelming if you have sensitive ears. The service is great. In my experience they are very good at organizing the venue, dealing with lines, ticket purchase, etc. One of the best selling points of Comedy Bar is that it’s a legit fun atmosphere to hang out in after the show. It’s much more tempting to stick around here and chat to people than elsewhere.

My go to spot for comedy in Toronto! Yes I know Second City gets all the attention but Comedy Bar showcases a wider variety of talents and shows, a lot of up and coming comedy groups delight audiences. 4 stars vs. 5 because the I’m never a fan of how jam packed it gets when crowds collide in the bar area between shows as the train of post show people come out and the«line» to get in can’t get in either. It’s especially frustrating when you have a 10:30pm show that is yet to start letting people in around 20 or 30 mins prior to showtime(doesn’t always happen, but yeah I’ve had a few late starts that have been frustratingly slow to get going once you’ve been standing up smooshed up against strangers. But then the sort of flip side to that is that the crowds that frequent this hole in the wall in the basement are really easy going and always in a chill mood. It’s very easy to start conversations with strangers and booze and comedy is always a perfect catalyst for social interactions IMO. As I’ve mentioned before some groups that perform here are still trying to perfect the art of improv, so best go in knowing that. Unless of course you’re going to watch a stand up routine by a headliner that these guys manage to secure every so often. I think any comedy fan should not give Comedy Bar multiple visits, shows are also super affordable and makes for a great night out! PS — don’t rely on them to provide a good dinner, while they do have a food menu, it’s pretty lacking. I’m not going to hold that against them too much since that’s now why people should be coming here for.

So complaining nicely really does pay off! I was comped two tickets to Superstars of Comedy by the host/headliner/showrunner? because I told him about my bad experience here. We’ve been back again since(NXNE) and they seem to have gotten their aggressive security guard and ticket issues sorted out. It’s a great little place that’s a bit dive baresque but totally worth it for the great shows they put on. I hope the staff keep up their good work and don’t succumb to overbooking and swearing at me.

I’ve been here twice before to watch live improv shows. I think it’s a great venue to watch comedic talent on the stage. The tickets are under $ 10 and you catch some of the most creative, brilliant, sharp-tongued minds in improv. I’ve seen groups that formed during and after Impatient Theatre imploded and I’m never disappointed. It’s a good hour and a half of entertainment. The place itself seems a bit rundown, with signed posters decorating its walls. But it’s all part of the admission fee & charm right? Although they have a good selection of beer, it can run out on a sold out night! The bartenders are quick and friendly. I think this is a good place to go out on a cold winter’s day.

Craving for stand up sessions in Toronto? The Comedy bar is one of the must go places where many comedians come. You can either go to the free shows which happen once a week or the regular shows which will cost you around 10 $. Possibility to enjoy a nice drink at the bar while waiting for the next show.
