I’ve been shopping here for a few years now and I usually find something I like every single time I come in. I never go to this store with the expectation of buying the whole store because I think the idea of the store is to «sort» through everything until you find the items you like. I usually find something I like and at a good price. The buyers do an excellent job at curating the clothes, and they appeal to a diverse selection of people who live in the Parkdale neighbourhood. The prices are reasonable and usually on par with most thrift. I don’t even go to any other thrift stores besides Common Sort other than consignment because I find with other thrift stores you have to really be there for hours going through garbage piles of clothes. At Common Sort, they filter all the garbage out so your work is laid out for you.

2 stars – the customer service could’ve been better. They don’t seem to like kids in there. Good selection of clothing but a tad bit pricy for second hand. I went in twice… won’t return!

They turned down a $ 200 pair of boots worn twice and a $ 50 pair of shoes never worn. Baffling.

This is likely my favorite store in Toronto. I have been shopping at Common Sort back when it was just in Riverdale(while I haven’t been to that location recently.) I go into the Parkdale location everytime I’m in the area and always find something wonderful. I was there yesterday and bought the most stunning cape for winter, something I have wanted for many years so I’m pretty pleased. The ladies who work there were nice, as they always are. Plus they always have something neat for sale up on the counter, they have London Butter nailpolish right now, but I’ve grabbed some pretty great handmade things like a wicked fox brooch like last year.

Love love love this store!!! I always find something great there. Yesterday I picked up a champagne/navy 100% silk dress for 26 $. Compared to other similar stores the prices here are amazingly fair. The staff are always friendly and helpful without hovering. The only thing I wish they had is an alterationist to fix things that are a bit long or big.

Common Sort is a great place to come browse for those that prefer pre-selected quality items when second hand shopping. Everything is in great shape and on point with style and vintage trends. Common Sort has a great mix of modern vintage pieces, with current second hand styles. The items they do carry are always in top notch shape — no stains, rips etc. I also love the mix of brands — ranging from lower end price point brands to higher end. The prices are reasonable for the type of store it is(it is not a thrift store, so there are no ‘steals’ persay but still very reasonable prices). This location has a great selection of quality vintage shoes. I would definitely recommend it for a visit!

Both traded and shopped here with success. Trade: I brought in a bag of roughly 8 – 10 items and they told me to have a look around while they sorted. They chose two rather unexpected pieces and gave me store credit(which they keep on file if you lose the record). Saw some very nice things but decided to buy later. I got about 27 bucks for a blazer and a skirt. Buy: Found an amazing sweater here composed of lambswool, rabbit hair, angora and some other very unusual materials for around 30 bucks. Definitely a steal and made a great gift. No pressure buying and they were helpful in the fitting rooms without harassing me. I hadn’t brought my store credit with me but they were happy to look it up as long as I had a very rough idea of how long ago it was. They have a great selection of jewellery and accessories as well as some neat new stuff like gloves and tights. Great atmosphere and a nice retreat from the rest of that neighbourhood.

Common Sort also has a location in the east end of town, which I haven’t visited but had heard lots about. The Parkdale location is large and excellently laid out – clothes are sorted by size and accessories are beautifully displayed on the walls. Prices seem reasonable, given the quality of the selection; most of the dresses I looked at were in the $ 20-$ 30 range. The shop also takes things on consignment, and it sounds like they’re choosy about what they take(as evidenced by the clothes on the floor!) When I was in, I overheard the girls at the counter discussing how to detect counterfeit jeans – it’s nice to know that all the clothes for sale have been vetted!
