this place should ban the bitches that always cause fights, I was once standing outside during their closing hours waiting for my friends to come out when this trashy, ratchet, and boorish person named Erica Keese(who got kicked out from there many times for what I’ve heard) attacked me out of nowhere. I just told her that I don’t know her and she flipped the fuck out and started pushing me and tried to kick me, stupid rude bouncers just stood there doing nothing because it was outside their place.

This place is dirty, it smells, rude staff, dirty as fuck, poorly run, upstairs bar charges more than downstairs for same drink

Really chill place, way too many security guards, paid different prices at the downstairs bar from the up stairs one when I ordered the same thing.

It’s a great place … if you like getting robbed… and leaving with sludge all over your shoes… and enjoy the only place on church where I’ve witnessed physical altercations occur(my experience) in the village; NEVER, EVER anywhere else in the village. Over time, I’ve learned this is one of the places to avoid I’ts like a Reality TV star who is famous for being famous, yet they kinda blow. Similarly, Crews is popular for being popular, yet it’s the type of place you regret paying cover for. Clearly, cleanliness isn’t a priority for the staff/management …And no, it’s not kinda dirty because it’s busy a couple times a week. It’s filthy! Ask yourself, what do your shoes/clothes look like after leaving a consistently busy place. A mall, for example, where tons more people frequent. No problem, right. Crews, on the other hand, is infamously known to be the grossest hole on Church. It’s bacteria filled environment is sickening. This place becomes more of a dive every day it’s open, attracting the ilk which gives the village a bad name. Regarding safety and security, BEWARE. Pickpockets are RAMPANT. Also, there is a rumour going around that the«bouncers”/“security guards» are in on the thefts, or at least make a point of keeping anything of value once it’s been handed in to the«lost and found.» They are the WORST security help in the city. Some, in particular, I’m sure must be on route to trying to become cops… You know — abrasive, twisted, god-complex, bullies. Be extra careful if you go here! They may very likely spoil your night, all thanks to some punk overcompensating with a huge negative attitude for a positively small penis. Outside of his nightly(weekend) 15 minute of «authority,» he’s likely some little f-ing geek jerking off to girls FB pics who wont respond to his friend request… Honestly, lol. Sadly, this place has shifted to being a thug paradise. Yuck. So…if you go, hoop ur wallet(lol. jk) or put it somewhere away from the thieves, prepare to clean sludge off of your shoes or toss them the next day, and steer clear of the 3rd floor… very clear. Alternatively, just stay away all together! It’s like people continuing to frequent clubs where terrible things like shootings occur(such as Muzik) and then are surprized when someone gets hurt or shot. Don’t go to places like that, duh! You’re chancing trouble. Why?! :S

For those in a rush, the summary of this bar: — Popular on Fridays for some reason — Pointless $ 5 cover with a surly doorman — Insane wait to get drinks and even worse to move from one room of the club to the next — The club is ruled by bouncers who will push patrons doing no wrong around and«ban» you for no reason whatsoever — A complete waste of time and money better spent at any other establishment on Church Now, on to my full review… This dump gets the privilege of being my first Unilocal review. I am not a big club fan but I will generally head out once or twice a month. Although I have been to Crews dozens and dozens of times over the years I can assure you that after last night I will never return; but I will get to that a bit later in this review. Let’s start with the basics. For some reason I fail to understand, this dive is the«hot spot» in the village on Fridays; espescially with the under 30 set. There is a mediocre drag show in the front of the bar… see it once, and you’ve seen it a million tomes. The second floor is a much more urban vibe and crowd. The back room plays top-40/R&B. ISSUE #1 — LINES: The first issue I have with this place is that there are lines everywhere(and I’m not just talking about the kind people are surely doing in the bathroom stalls). Even if the club is dead you will find them controlling entry to get in, for paying your $ 5 cover to the most surly man I have ever seen, to check your coat(mandatory during winter months), to get to the patio, to move from one room to the next, to get a drink, and to get upstairs. A good part of any night at Crews will be spent bored in a line. ISSUE #2 — RUDEANDABUSIVEBOUNCERS: Worse still is the incessant power trip and forceful demeanour of the bouncers in this place. Never in any club(let alone in the village) have I seen this level of overkill when it comes to security. Pushing patrons, yelling at people in line, physically blocking doorways. An absolute mess. I understand every bar needs some level of security and to maintain restrictions on capacity, but this place is nothing short of madness and is the same story whether the club is at 10% occupancy or 100%. ***Now, the reason I was prompted to write this review in the first place.*** ISSUE #3 — DISCRIMINATION: The aforementioned bouncers appear to have a habit of discrimination and exclusion, based on no criteria whatsoever. Last night(Friday, July 24) I was here with 3 of my friends, I had grabbed my first drink for the night, and we headed to the back room. In the midst of conversing with my friend, out of nowhere 2 guards approach me and push me to the exit. These same bouncers proceeded follow me all the way through until I left the fpremises and told me never to return. No reason whatsoever was given for this. As mentioned, I was sober(save for that first drink I had in my hand upon being approached) and minding my own business with a friend. I have been to this bar literally dozens and dozens of times and have never had anything like this happen or cause any trouble in the past. I was glad to comply with bouncers’ orders as I am not one to start a commotion or cause any issue… however I find it incredibly disturbing that they feel the need to discriminate and remove patrons for no reason and with no explanation given. I have also heard from several friends that similar things have happened to them. The bouncers at this second-rate dive need and ego check. The whole place is really a mess, and a waste of time compared to any of the alternative options readily available on Church street. SUMMARY: AVOIDTHISDISCRIMINATORY, LINE-PLAGUEDDUMPOFANESTABLISHMENTATALLCOSTS! Your leisure time and money are far better spent elsewhere.

Fun place with devoted drag Queens and a good atmosphere, but the drinks are more than all the surrounding bars, they do charge a cover fee($ 5), and there’s lots and lots of Bachelorette groups. 2 floors with the drag shows on the first level, a dance floor on the second level, and a 2nd dance area open thu-sat at the back of the first floor. Also, I came a couple of times(err 3) and got an attitude from the bartender on the 2nd floor both times.

This place is so much fun. Each area has different themes and the drag queens are hilarious. I met some people here on my vacation with my boyfriend and we are still friends today and everyone is so nice. It is small but personal and I loved it! Can’t wait to go back!

The bouncer was an ass — drunk on power! And the bar was a terrible spot — though the upper floor was fairly decent.

Went here last night for a few drinks with some friends near by but after being confronted by the troll at the front door who was not only rude but insisted rummaging through my backpack and dropping my stuff on the floor the night was over in my opinion. When someone like this is on the front door it speaks volumes about the establishment.

I used to love going here. Lately it is trash. The security are all pricks and the drag queens are extremely rude. Rude beyond jokingly funny. Most of the patrons are wannabe gay dancers and it’s very annoying when they are all acting like they’re better than everyone else. What was once my favourite place is now a place I dread going to. The security is by far the worst thing about this place, followed closely by the newer, extremely rude drag queens.

The rude, overbearing security here is a total turnoff. It’s a gay bar, not a prison cafeteria. Any other bar in the village — or the city — treats its patrons with more respect.

To be honest this bar is amazing and absolutely horrible at the same time! amazing because the women are just beautiful in there! simply beautiful! but Bad because the security in there is just RIDICULOUS! Myself and 6 other friends all agreed that there is just WAYTOOMUCHSECURITY! you LITERALLY feel like a patient in a mental ward that has been allowed to have a «dance night». everywhere you go there is security ushering and stopping you at every corner and stairwell. its absurd. For e. g while walking up the stairs to go to the top level .i stopped on the stairs for no more than two seconds to look at the drag queen show and was confronted immediately by security telling me i couldnt stand there… To MOVE! bearing in mind the stairs were empty! On another occassion before my friend and I could even get our coats from coat check to leave the club… security was right on us telling us we had to move… move …move…you can’t stand here… we were like WTH? we JUST got our coats… what is your problem dude?!! simply wayyyyyy too much security to the point that you can’t enjoy yourself. go somewhere else! TRUSTME!

Catch their awesome drag show downstairs and head upstairs for the dance floor. Decent dance music and a good crowd. Drinks on the expensive side(as expected for a club) and a very poor beer selection. Adding insult to injury: I ordered and paid for their only IPA but received some crappy light beer. I almost threw it out but it was too expensive to justify the waste, and it was too busy to attempt an exchange at the bar. Definitely one of the busier clubs on Church Street with the best mixed crowd(women, not just men).

This place is so trashy, which is exactly why I love it so much. Back in Atlanta, our drag queens perform until midnight, if that. Here, these drag queens are singing and dancing until 3 A.M. There are 3 main locations, all in which feel like a different club. The upstairs location pretty much is a Rihanna Pandora station. The downstairs location/main location is where the drag queens perform and the back room is a dark dance room with a more upbeat/dance mix of music. The basement is full of bathrooms… And it’s unisex. I hope you aren’t pee shy. The demographic here is unique. It’s about 60% female and 40% male. There is a heavy mixture of straight people and the age range varies, however it seems like it tends to appeal to the younger crowd. If you are a girl between the ages of 19 – 24, you will love this place. If you are a male between the age of 23 – 50, you should take some shots and you will enjoy this place. I definitely think Crews and Tangos is a great place to people watch or party!

I’ve been here a few times with both queer and straight friends and we’ve all had a great time. Drinks are normally priced, top 40s music. Three dance rooms — one with a stage for the entertaining drag shows — all with very different vibes. Lots of people on Friday nights. Friendly crowd. Nice bar staff, always willing to just give you a glass of water. Will definitely go back.

Good: Love the performers and fun atmosphere. TERRIBLE: YOUNGUNPROFESSIONALBOUNCER. I went outside for air and I was trying to make sure I had everything in my purse. There was thunder and lightening outside. He told me to go down the stairs and basically step into the storm. I explained that I didn’t want to get struck by lightening and he told me to eff myself(real words though). This was around 11pm on Friday September 5th. I love this place, even bought the performers a drink, but this was truly unacceptable behavior.

A little clubby for my taste, but tons of fun(though I was there for pride so it was probably more fun than usual). Would I return? For pride yes, in general maybe on occasion but definitely not regularly. It’s just not my kind of place. The alcohol selection was not to my liking, and it was so crowded and loud with little area to sit and talk. I will say though if you like clubby dance like bars then go here, cause if I enjoyed it, people who actually like that kind of atmosphere will probably love it! The highlight for me was definitely the drag queens. They were absolutely amazing and put on such a great show!

If top 40 music, cheap drinks, DRAGQUEENS, patios, dancing, karaōke, cute gay boys and sexy lesbians are your thing? This place is for you. This can also be a great place for you to bring some of your straight friends wanting to dip in the scene for the first time… very fun and entertaining. __TOP 40MUSIC all around. I hate it, but you know. it’s good to dance to especially when you are already pissed drunk and kissing up to your gay boy friends and lesbian girlfriends. WHOO. __CHEAP DRINKS are awesome! $ 5 bottles of beer and they sell pitchers too, under $ 17. What a deal. I usually only come in with $ 40 and I am already set for the night! __DRAG QUEENDIVAS? Guuurl! Better fix your weave, they will out-fierce your crusty, basic ass. They are awesome, friendly, very entertaining and very very very FUNNY. Daytona Bitch, Brooke Lynn Hytes, and Ivory Towers are my fave girls… they’re FAB-U-LOUS. __DANCING? Upstairs for me, meh. It’s alright. The dance floor at the back though? That’s where you break a sweat. Loooooove the music at the back and the crowd! __PATIO… oooou my favourite place! Especially during the summer time! It is like the confessional booth. where all the drama happens bahahaha. They have a bar outside as well during the warm season… and plenty of seats for you to sit your fat or flat ass with your sweaty, inebriated, and horny friends. __The line ups can be long during weekends but they move fast. The cover is only $ 5 on weekends and free during weekdays! Overall, I love the place. My friends love it so much that they go almost every week. I however am getting tired of it. I like the place a lot, but we’ve been going here too much lately. I need a Crews and Tango DETOX, child… XOXOOXOX ps. Free condom packages that promote safe sex in the washrooms that says«IFYOUWANTTOFUCK». LOOOOVEIT.

Here is a coherent list of why incoherent me loves Crews: 1) the drag shows are always great entertainment 2) everyone is generally very friendly and accepting 3) no cover(or $ 5 on saturday) 4) three separate areas playing different music – don’t like the vibe/beats in one room? just move to another. 5) djs usually on point, playing fun music 6) the girl who works coat check. be still my beating heart. going to crews always spells out a good(if not slightly fuzzy) time. so much so that I get periodic cravings for it when I am away from home.
