Two times now my boyfriend and I have went to this location, both times the door sign says ‘open’, lights are on… and doors are LOCKED. The first time we encountered this we stood outside and called 3 times hoping someone would pick up which no one did. Second time before showing up we called from HOME, a lady picks up and say’s they’ll be opening in 15 minutes… So we hop in the car, drive to Danforth, keep in mind this is about 30 mins later. We get there, lights are on, door sign says open and bam! Door is locked. Called again and no answer. Who knows what the issue was, perhaps whomever was working had to step out coincidentally both times but at least could have had the proper courtesy as a business to put a sign up on the door. Will not attempt to go there again and judging from these reviews the place is a shit hole.

This place is AWFUL. I’ve been swindled several times by the sneaky woman who works there(she could be the owner). Usually she will just lie about what time you started or finished to try and squeeze a few extra dollars out of you. Or the price of drinks will slowly increase as you get more drunk. Full rant below. Also ALLOFTHEPOOLTABLESAREUNEVEN so it’s impossible to play a proper game. This place stays open because of high school students and regulars. The worst time I was ripped off was when I planned a birthday party, 20 people for $ 150(for 2 hours I believe) and the agreement was I pay her when everyone arrives. She went out of her way to buy chip dip and cake which I originally thought was a nice gesture. As the party was getting underway(and I had already paid $ 100) I realized only 16 people were coming. She agreed with my boyfriend that we would change the price of the party accordingly, then at the end of the night she changed her mind and said«the other $ 50 is only fair after all the work I’ve done, I mean it was what we agreed and I bought you a cake and everything.» This was after telling each of my friends a different price for the same beer, and raising the price of mixed drinks 25cents TWICE within two hours. I paid the money and never returned. If you would like to visit this horrible business make sure you time yourself with your phone and watch every penny you spend.

I took my Danforth Social Meetup group here last Saturday night, Feb 28th. I really want to love this place but it has to be written: the place is kind of a dump. Between the old Halloween decorations, debris, multiple tables out of commission, parts of the room being worked on – but not really being worked on… yeah, the place does NOT impress. It just feels like it was left for dead, back in the 70s, and needs a lot of work. Which is too bad. It is a cavernous space. It used to be a gym. I can’t imagine the potential: yoga studio, gym, club, etc. There is a place for bands and a dance floor. I’d love to DJ some 80s night here or something. No ipod – the music is what a tuner is set to. No beer on tap. Only the most basic domestics and imports. But on the plus side, $ 4.50 a beer is not bad. And $ 5-something per person, per hour, is good entertainment value. About an hour of pool is all most morals can take. I didn’t explore the restroom situation. The service was fine. If you want food, it comes from the place downstairs. Somebody in my group ordered, and enjoyed, the fries. We had the place to ourselves – I suspect only the most local of the locals venture out for this one. There was supposed to be live music at 10 and at 10 they closed off the billiards area. By 10:45 there was still no music so we took off. Somebody who stayed said it was worth the wait. NOT the place for the serious billiard player, NOT the place to take a date or impress anyone BUT this could work as a meeting place to start your Danforth pub crawl. It is a short walk from the subway and several better drinking holes on the strip.

It isn’t glamorous, but the prices are decent, the service is friendly, and they have lots of tables. You could do worse. If you want craft beer, hipsters and great décor, you would be in the wrong place.
