This reviewer is giving Eko a star under protest which is unfortunate for two reasons. One because they don’t deserve any stars in my opinion and two because they have many beautiful things and I will no longer be shopping there. To put it in a nutshell to the owner & staff… no you are not doing me any favours by letting me shop there… and no it should not be a hardship for you to let me try on your goods. The past few times i have been the only person in the store and made to feel like I’m not worthy. Twice i have walked out when I was close to making purchases for hundreds & hundreds of dollars… obviously despite the lack of traffic in your store you’re not lacking in sales. Also why is the phone never answered… and despite your message saying that you will call back quickly there has been absolutley no response to multiple messages. Word of mouth travels fast… hopefully you will get this message.

I have yet to purchase a piece from Eko, but have adored the place from the first time I walked in. They carry unique jewellery from several designers(many of which are based out of NYC) using different materials; from leather, wood, gold, silver, beads, gems and of course diamonds. With something for everyone, most pieces are $ 300+ although they carry a handful or more inexpensive silver charms and bracelets. You can find semi-precious stones, gems and diamonds with my favourite piece by Mizuki — a stunning 4″ icicle pendant with a price tag of $ 4,500.00. I’ve always found the staff to be courteous and friendly, and I treat the store with respect by eying their pieces but only asking them to pull what I’m more serious about. Highly recommended for those who want a unique piece less commonplace.

I have been shopping at the queen street location for over a year. I love the variety of jewelry but more importantly the great customer service. Mina(owner) and the ladies at this location are extremely nice and knowledgable about the product they sell. I just purchased a necklace and bangle bracelet by St. Erasmus. Go their for unusual but beautiful jewelry. Stephanie Major

I have nothing to say but absolutely wonderful things about this place! I have been a customer for about seven years — through boyfriends, of course… I always send them here. I have nine or 10 pieces from Eko, and I adore them all. It’s kind of a nasty thing to do, sending boyfriends here, since the layout is a bit intimidating, but they always have the BEST things to say about it. The sales staff are all outstanding. They know how to make anyone and everyone(including Mr. Rosie S.) feel comfortable. He goes back here not only because I love it, but because they make the experience enjoyable and easy. Once I had to go in to get a bracelet repaired, and the customer service was remarkably polite and positive. They have also sized both rings and bracelets for me, free of charge. A truly classy, customer-oriented place that supports indie designers. What’s not to love?

I agree with the previous reviewer. I just went there today(Saturday). I hadn’t been in a while as I have been living in and out of town. I have purchased a few things there over the years. I still like the pieces showcased there but I really don’t feel that the attitude of the salespeople will encourage me to return to buy what I asked to look at today. I had wanted to look at other items that I am interested in but after taking out two delicate rings and being told the price for each, the salesperson quickly moved on to a couple of men who walked in. She promptly left me. How could she assume that I wasn’t going to buy anything? Did the newcomers to the store look like«sure things» to actually purchase and did I only seem to be browsing? That was a definite mistake on her part! They lost a sale and potential sales with me. The one star that I rated applies to the merchandise. It’s all I’ll give due to the shabby treatment I received.

I went to the Yonge and Eglinton location a few Saturdays ago. The person who helped me asked me if I needed assistance, but looked very bored. When I looked around and selected a few pieces to look at, which were at a range of prices, below $ 100 and above $ 300. When I asked her to clarify what the metals were made of in the necklaces, she replied in an unfriendly manner and repeated her exact words she initially said to me, «like I said, I told you they were made of gold etc. etc.». She talked about them, but in a condescending way towards me as if I didn’t have enough money to purchase the items. She didn’t care to really help me because she thought I wasn’t intending to buy one item there, although I was open to purchasing when I walked into the store. I definitely won’t be going back to that location for it’s unfriendly service and disinterest in customer’s questions. Considering some of the pieces there are pricey, they should really work how to sell their products to their customers. I definitely won’t recommend that place because of it’s poor customer service.

Opened in 1997, Eko is a leading retailer for contemporary and modern jewelry. The aesthetic here is distinctly innovated and inspired, with jewelry that is not only meant to adorn but to complete. The boutique functions more like an exhibition space as opposed to a traditional retail outlet. The long corridor has is sleek and has a prism effect. Necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings are tucked away neatly along the walls. With lines by Alexis Bittar, Dana Kellin, Paola Volpi and Tribu Rigaux, Eko is more like an ode to creativity than a shop.
