This place is insanely daring and crazy! I entered and went down tthe stairs and it was nothing i expected!!! I thought I was just going to sway my hips away and dance to each song but there was so much more!!! This place gets you in the best mood and its a party come to life!!! Its naugty, flirty, dirty, raunchy and carefree! Sometimes you need a night like that and there is the place to get it. They have a variety of entertainers to get the crowd going. The music is ravishing and on point! I didnt drink that night, was so full from Bar Isabel and revival… oh and dolce…
I cannot wait till I get to visit this place again!!! Be ready for a crazy night. If your boring and not daring, then stay home with netflix and watch orange is the new black!

Was here Friday July 3^rd with my sister and a good friend visiting from out of town. We danced until closing and had the best time. I love that they play latin and salsa music as well as some top 40, they really appeal to a variety of people. Not only is there variety in the music but El Convento is super gay friendly and even has a drag show which is super fun and really gets the crowd going.
I met straight guys and gay guys and had the best time.
It was fun to groove to the music in my own way and see the couples dancing who actually knew how to dance to the salsa music they played.
The bartender did give my sister a bit of attitude after she expressed her disappointment that she kept serving people who’d come after us but we were eventually served and went on with our night. She scolded my sister saying «do you see how busy I am»! Busy or not as a bartender you should be used to multitasking and having a slight grasp on who’s been waiting 10 minutes and who has just arrived at the bar.
Overall a great time and excellent alternative to bro-​y bars that serve up only top 40 and rap.

This place is a lot of fun! The drag show is awesome and the music is amazing. I went there last night and i couldn’t stop dancing from how good the music was. Every song was better than the next!
The place is for people who are actually looking to let go and enjoy themselves!

In the few times I’ve gone it always feels like there’s something special going on at the Mother House.
Drag shows make for an exciting night of festivities. Any and everyone can just be themselves and let loose on a Friday or Saturday night. Both nights I have observed to be fairly packed and very busy.
Very fun. Love it. Absolutely fabulous. Music is great.

This place was fun many years ago. Now it’s filled with troublemakers and expensive drinks. This place is much more expensive than it needs to be. It’s a bit of a dive. We witnessed three separate fights on the dance floor last night, with one gentlemen left a bloody mess. The security did a good job in handling the fights. The blame appears to fall solely on the non-​LGBT clientele. Even though this is a popular place for the LGBT community, the male/​female troublemakers were clearly heterosexuals, either drunk or simply there to cause drama.
The show was also a bit disappointing compared to past experiences here.
We do not plan on returning.
