BE AWARE OF THIS COMPANY!
I usually don’t have time to write reviews, but thought this incident was important for people to know.
We were having problems with our eaves troughs in respect to leaking and water overflowing on our $ 3mm home. We hired Mark at GutterForce to investigate and fix the problem. His price was quite high for the job, but he seemed confident that it could be fixed, so we hired him.
We got an email on Nov 10, that the job was completed and to submit payment… I requested on that date a report of their findings on what was wrong with my eaves as that is what they were hired to do primarily… I was currently out of the country, and I did receive a brief report, which I didn’t understand/​not complete followed by a demand for payment followed by some strange emails telling me how I should operate my life (very strange)…
When I returned from my trip, I finally got in touch with Mark on Nov 20 to discuss the job and he advised that he did everything he could … I asked him about warranty in case whatever he fixed didn’t work, and he said there was none and then went on to compare eaves troughs to a human body where finding problems is complicated… and if he had to come back, that he would be charging me for it again… I found this quite unsettling and disappointing… I felt I got ripped off… At this point, I wanted to rid myself of this guy as he was very strange and always made awkward statements, so I cut a cheque and put it in the mail… He kept demanding a credit card, which I didn’t have handy and then decided that I did not want to give it to him as I didn’t trust him…
The very next day (Nov 21), I received 3 texts, 3 phone calls/​voicemails and 3 emails demanding payment… The last email threatened that if I don’t call with a credit card immediately, that he will continue harassing us, or «have me wake you up in the mornings or take back our brackets that we installed in your eaves.» We have young kids, and now feel very unsafe. I advised Mark that he if he ever steps foot on our property that the police will be called immediately…
He is accusing us of not paying our bills on time, yet a cheque was cut 8 business days after the jobs was done… Now I’m debating whether I should stop payment on this cheque and go to court, or close the door on this and never have to deal with him ever again… Scary stuff…
