The optometrist, Dr. Laleh Sharifzadeh, was kind of rude — she didn’t introduce herself and as soon as I walked into the room(after waiting 20 minutes for a scheduled appt) she asked me if I understood that I had to pay for the exam because OHIP wouldn’t cover it for my age and did I have insurance. She didn’t seem to like it when I asked her her name. While I think it’s good to explain their payment policy I also think it’s good to introduce yourself first and show some friendliness and then explain what she’s going to do and the fee involved. She basically has no sense of how to be personable or the basics of starting a doctor-patient relationship. She made a personal call during the middle of the exam, and seemed reluctant to answer some questions that I had at the end. I would never return to her — she had poor bedside manners and did not make me feel at all welcome. The proprietor at the store was very nice but not super helpful in helping me pick a pair of frames — the prices seemed on par with other stores and the décor was a bit shabby with few places to try on glasses — so I’d rather go to a nicer store where they are a little friendlier and where there are more choices(there are not many designer or name-brand frames here).
