This place is quite nice, with a large display of baked goods to choose from, and a spacious area to dine in(and of course, wifi). The employees were all very polite and friendly, and it’s a nice place for some reading or studying(if you like the quiet but chattering atmosphere like myself). The americano is also very pleasant! However, I think the place could definitely be a bit cleaner. during my 1-hour stay, I saw the employees wiping the tables but never sweep the floor. A lot of crumbs and pieces of food was on the ground, despite the place running fairly slow. Overall a nice place.

It’s alright but I’ve purchase raw muffins and mouldy loaf cakes here in the past which has left a bad taste in my mouth(no pun intended), also coffee is crap and makes you feel shitty.

I come here a couple times a month, I usually get the olive boule loaf(so good!) and any of the croissants, I particularly love the almond but all of them are good. The desserts and cookies are decent, their potato and macaroni salads are tasty, their quiche and samosas are pretty good too. For the most part service is friendly and quick, once in a while there might be someone who isn’t the most enthused to be there, but no one has ever been rude. Try the almond croissant, honestly… the best!

I have been here twice and the service has always been warm and friendly. I do take a number even when it’s slow, but I’ve never found the system to be problematic. Their baguettes are delicious. I am a baguette aficionado and they make a really excellent one. Crusty with a good toothsome chew. This is no fake soft bready baguette like the sort passed off by some places. I have also tried their chelsea bun which was extraordinarily yummy. I wish I had bought more than one. It was crisp and just the perfect amount of sweet. It was not overly sweet or sticky as can sometimes be the case with these types of buns. I’ve also tried their PB&J cookies(yum) and the linzer cookies(super yum!). I will absolutely be back when I’m in the area.

While I haven’t been blown away by their desserts(although their strawberry rhubarb pie is pretty tasty), their breads and ready-to-bake Mac and cheese are certainly delicious. Their take-a-number system is confusing when the bakery is quiet, as they don’t seem necessary(and the staff don’t seem to follow it) but then if a person comes in behind you and does take one, you can end up getting pushed back. This may have happened to me a few times… So remember to take a number just a case! The prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly enough. Heads up, they don’t take credit, cash and debit only.

I have some mixed feelings about this place. First I’ll talk about the positive. Visited here for the first time with a friend and I must say, their almond croissants are quite good! I really liked the almond filling, it was just the perfect amount of sweetness. The croissant was nice and flaky, just the way it should be. Now the bad, and the ugly. The service was not so welcoming for one. Apparently according to my friend, the server responded with a, «What?» in a rude way when she asked for a loaf of bread. Not only that but she ended up talking on the phone sitting at the customer’s table, chatting for the whole time I was chatting with my friend.(now that’s a long time) Not very professional. Also, I was very disappointed with my purchases which was some cookies, specifically sugar. They were nothing special really. My friend’s cupcake frosting was too creamy and greasy as well. All in all, it was not too great of an experience. The ambiance I give it that, was not bad. But the rest of their bakery goods? Quite disappointing. They need to better their service and better the quality of some of their pastries, except the almond croissant that is.

Fantastic service, delicious baked goods. We ordered 200 tarts here for our November wedding last fall– everyone raved about them, and we weren’t surprised. The custards are amazing. ***They also have amazing gluten free options– seriously, so good. *** We’re always so pleased when we go to the hot oven– the staff are sweet and ever so helpful, the cakes are delicious as are the breads and sweets. I’d like to go more than I do– but it’s probably in my best interest to make it a treat– I could easily OD on delights here.

I visit friends who live in the neighborhood and love the Nanaimo Bars. The bread is also delicious. We purchased an olive boule and sourdough for dinner and it was all very fresh and tasty.

This was my first time at a Hot Oven bakery. The desserts looked absolutely delicious but they didn’t offer to heat up the food before serving it to me so it was very cold. It’s a shame.
