The elevator at the store was broken. I was inconveniently stuck in the dressing room on the 3rd floor waiting for the sales person on heels to complete multiple round trips to the ground floor to bring sizes. It was long and wrong. When I was paying for my items the labels on them were cut. These were regular price items. First of all: Why? Second of all: I am normally asked if I need the service. There are low expectations about customer service in Toronto boutiques on Bloor. HB staff did not disappoint. From initial greeting and indifferent«sorry the elevator is broken» to the last minute the customer service was cheap and average. Store hours are inconvenient. With Bloor strip /Yorkville going through favourite boutiques closure and some construction on the area seems to be dying and a waste of time in terms of shopping. Save yourself time and shop brand names in upscale department stores or in locations where brand names density is higher. Verdict: avoid.

Although the store isn’t huge, it’s well-lit and quite airy, making for a pleasant shopping environment. Casual wear is downstairs, while the upstairs has more formal stuff. I needed to buy a suit ASAP for interviews and recruiting for my last year of university, and I was only back home in Toronto for a few days so I came to this store, and the staff were super helpful and friendly! I wasn’t really too sure what I was looking for, but the salesperson was patient and suggested several styles for me to try on. Made all the right measurements for alterations. It was already 5pm and my flight back to school left early the next morning, but the salesperson literally ran my suit out to the tailor and an hour later I left happily with tailored suit in hand, which fit perfectly. Everything about my shopping experience here was top-notch and I would return here in a heartbeat. Still going through recruiting right now but I can happily say that I have a great suit for it.

So…**back story** the bf and I were exploring Toronto via bicycle(it was waayyy too nice out to drive) and decided to find a Hugo Boss store. We biked to Yorkville and strolled sunny Yonge street, bicycle helmets in hand. A nicely dressed salesperson stood the the Hugo Boss store doorway, holding open the door I assume to entice guests in from the heat. Well, we walked towards her — and she looked directly at us and shut the door in our faces! Now obviously she’s a good judge of character(I kid)– but soured our experience. We entered and felt quite unwelcome. Tyler has various Hugo pieces in his wardrobe, but none were added that weekend. No loss. Morale of the story: don’t judge a book by it’s cover. Just because people ride bikes doesn’t mean that they can’t afford nice things(and can’t not die in a tragic gasoline fighting incident).

The store is not large. The ground floor is for men and the second floor is for women. By the time when we go into the store, it is about 10 minutes before closing. We do not prepare to buy any particular item. But there are overcoats that catch our eyes. So we look, discuss and try, easily it approaches the closing hour. They start to clean the floors. The salesperson is not pushy at all. On the other hand, she mentions a few times that it is ok for us to stay in the stores until we complete our shopping. She is polite and waits for us. Service is good for these kinds of brand name stores. Finally we complete the sale and she is happy to close another deal before the end of the day. All parties are happy!
