I recently had my 3rd root canal(3 different teeth) with Dr. Hunter. I keep coming back because each time, things went as smoothly as you could hope. Dr. Hunter is a good listener, quick to figure out what’s wrong, and careful to make sure you have as much anaesthetic as you need. Most importantly, as a «repeat customer», I can tell you that each root canal has been perfect, with no problems afterward. I recommend him without hesitation.

I visited Dr. Hunter this morning and my experience was very different from the other two reviews. Let’s keep in mind that endodontic patients are typically in a lot of pain and I have been for some time. First I told the assisstant who first met me that I have been in excruciating pain for nearly a week waiting for this appointment. I cannot eat much or drink much because if the instant pain. My family dentist had referred me for this work to see Dr. Hunter and I had waited the week. Initially Dr. Hunter’s assistant asked me why I was even there which left me very confused. She said I shouldn’t be there and that they don’t pull teeth. There was no understanding and all the questions were to me and no dentist there to provide comments. I was referred to them. If they don’t know why I am there maybe they should ask the dentist that referred me. Later the assistant apologized but the dentist, when he arrived, was even worse. He scowled up his face at me and leaned into my face, leaning over me and putting is nose about 10 inches from mine, and pronounced the words«you were told in May to take care of this tooth and now it’s July — no wonder you ware in pain!!» I was scared after that. No empathy. No caring. No understanding. I was actually doing the best I could he then scowled some more. Zero kindness. He was not apologetic for the unfortunate bad start. But worse, first he told me that he could treat this tooth and then later told me to just get it pulled as my dentist initially told me to do. First he said I had options and then he said I can get someone to pull it today. Completely confusing me and very angry. I had to ask him not to shout at me and to be understanding. It was awful. Then I was billed for a consultation and no prescription for my pain was offered. My regular dentist is on vacation until next week. I was left on my own to beg for some pain killers and received no treatment at all. Mostly the lack of empathy and the anger quite scared me of Dr. Hunter. It was an awful experience. I advise to never go to this endodontist. There are so many great ones to choose from in Toronto.
