My friend and I just spent two very pleasant weeks here. It’s more bed and there’s the fridge, which suited us fine – we got up when we wanted and made our breakfast from the assortment of things available – eggs, bread, jam, real butter, tea, coffee, etc. There’s always fruit on the table and you can make yourself a snack any time of day or night. Our room was small, but clean, inexpensive, and the AC worked very well. Other guests all seemed on the level and self-contained. No one bothered us, ever. We felt perfectly safe there at all times. We did wait once or twice for the shared bathroom, but no big deal. Free phone calls to anywhere in North America. Free wifi is SUPER fast, best ever. The folks who run the place are helpful, genuine, easygoing, and respect your space. Good communication, and no bullshit. They got us parking permits for the neighborhood, and when my laptop power cord died, Emre(the owner) loaned me one of his. That’s cool. The place was beautiful and serene; everything was clean, and it was right around the corner from where we needed to be, close to the subway and a very safe neighborhood. Thanks, Emre et al for a lovely visit to Toronto!

Finding a place to stay at an affordable price in Toronto is no easy business! For starters, we were there during lots of festivities and we only planned our Toronto trip approximately a week before our departure date. Pros — great location. Located within walking distance from some major attractions and the metro system — easy going owner — decent price for downtown Toronto — free wifi — free breakfast but don’t expect anything fancy! It’s a simple self-serve breakfast from the fridge. Cons — rooms could use a little more cleaning and dusting — if you are the type of Asian who was strictly raised not to wear shoes into your home this could be a major problem.(Yes I am one of those!). I didn’t like how we had to wear our slippers into the shared bathroom cause it felt dirty if I went in barefooted. This scenario brought me back to my dorm days. Definitely not my fondest memory! This place felt more like a cross between a hostel and a b&b. Not too low standard to be a hostel and not to high standard to be a b&b. Overall, a decent place if you are just looking to come back and sleep and you are not willing to pay more than $ 100 for a room in downtown Toronto.
