Had it at the Evergreen Winter Village. It was chilly in the big barn and they had a little fire in front of J.K. Frites so you can keep warm while waiting for your fries. Yes, they’re made in batches to order! Tossed with salt and thyme, the fries were perfect and so delicious!

I’m surprised Jamie Kennedy Fries has not been reviewed before. And while not a permanent place, I think his mobile fryer has been part of The Brickworks vendor marketplace from day 1. The famous fries are legendary and have been written about for years, often considered among the best in Toronto. The fryer is usually(always?) manned by his son(s). The premise is simple: organic Ontario potatoes, sunflower oil, course salt and fresh thyme. Today, on the cusp of spring, the fryer was in operation despite the below freezing morning temperature. And there were even a few snowflake. The other vendors were indoors but the fryer necessitated the outdoor placement. Fresh out of the oil, a sprinkling of salt and toss of thyme results in perfect fries. And to gild the lily, they also have a homemade«ketchup» & «mayonnaise»; both of which are delicious variants of the standard fare. A perfect activity for Saturday morning: explore The Brickworks, follow-up with JK fries. Open Saturdays, part of the Farmer’s Market, till about 1:30PM.
