Excellent location, freshly renovated modern look, good food, great memories. Awsome pool/snooker atmosphere, friedly staff. Quite a surprise since last visit 7 years ago.

Service was terribly slow even though they were practically empty when we were there. There is lots of seating, so its good for a large group. Price is average, but you can get much cheaper beer down the road at the Bar with No Name. Food was good; Nothing amazing, but I live in the area so I will probably go back.

Food is mediocre and service is okay, they are trying to «up» the service. Last night my hockey team and I stopped by for some food and to watch the Jays – our normal waitress(Tatiana?) was pretty great! Nachos on the house and food came out quick! My diet coke was already on the table before I even got there… And they have Barking Squirrel beer! Tuesday is half priced wings and if you ask nicely for garpar(not on the menu) you might just get it! Bear in mind it is medium wings with grated cheese Never busy but always regular!

This bar has really changed! The quality and taste of the food offered is amazing. This is not your usual pub grub greasy food bar anymore. The menu offers so many healthy choices. The staff are amazing and service is great. This bar was once very dodgy and grungy with very sketchy people and very slow no caring staff. It is the complete opposite now. Waitresses are fun and engaging. They are very knowledgeable and offer great suggestions. Although some of the cocktails are slightly pricey at 14 each they are superb. The drink menu does offer many many beers, ciders, shots and cocktails in a modest price range as well. The regulars at this bar are very friendly in a good, not creepy way lol. Their pulled pork is out of this world and their carrot soup is delectable. The gourmet burger is huge and so juicy and tasty. If you haven’t been here for a while I suggest you give it another try. Jekyll and Hydes does not disappoint.

Pros: newly renovated, waaay improved food menu, awesome karaōke. Cons: dodgy crowd, super low to the ground booth seating, harried staff. Overall, good place for a drink in the area, nothing to come a long way for… Unless it’s karaōke!

Staff are friendly. The fish and chips is a must! The batter is unique and you’ll never have seen it done this way. The fish was fresh and soft. I loved the vinaigrette coleslaw, fresh, not overly dressed and a variety of colored cabbage included. My other favorite is the rooibos chai tea. Next time, I’ll have to take a picture, now that I know how good it tastes.

Great karaōke, meh food. I love going to this bar, especially on Friday and Saturday nights, when you can find the always sassy, and never dull David hosting karaōke; Offering the one of the largest collections of songs I have ever seen. The atmosphere is touch and go. Some nights the bar is crowded with a 20-something college crowd, celebrating one milestone or another. At other times the crowd can be a bit older. The people are always nice. The food is not great. I have ordered a few things off the regular menu, and am sorry to say I have never been satisfied. I highly recommend staying away from anything that has rice(I find it dry and under cooked) or anything with red curry chicken on it(overcooked and a mushy mouth feel). I have also had burned burgers, dry burritos that are more like wraps the burritos, and unseasoned chicken. Don’t bother complaining either. I made the mistake of saying I am not a fan of much on the menu and was met with sarcasm and told«well everyone has their own taste». I totally agree with this, and I guess some people enjoy bland over cooked /under cooked food. I can highly recommend the late night menu, nachos, and the wings. Pros: Karaōke, good wings, close to subway Cons: Inconsistent dinner menu

Fun for Karaōke. Always an eclectic mix of regulars from the Crossways apartments upstairs and the area. Food seems fine, despite the recent city health warnings and the service is decent.

Great place, friendly atmosphere and great food. My favorite bar in the area. You gotta try the hot lemon pepper wings, they are the best in TO.

In a way I’m glad for all the low reviews here because it keeps the crowd down. This is actually one of our favourite spots to go because its never too busy but ever since they redid the menu, the food has been amazing. Definitely better than a lot of the trendier Roncesvalles pubs. They now carry our favourite summer beer(Shock Top). The service is definitely better during lunch hours than dinner for whatever reason. I’d recommend the Jekyll & Hyde burger with sweet potato fries.

The service was great! Party of 3 went there on a Saturday about 8pm for a birthday dinner and were looking for pub fare. Decent prices. I thoroughly enjoyed the seafood app(battered clams and shrimp.) The garlic bread was super fresh with loads of cheese. Friend 1 got bangers and mash. The sausages were dry and spicy, something about the mash tasted«off» and clearly boxed gravy was used on all the dishes around. My ribs had a «BBQ sauce» that tasted more like spicy ketchup which was unfortunate because the ribs were actually really good. Again, the service was great which was it’s saving grace. The décor was a bit lacking but all and all it wasn’t that bad of an experience.

Generally a bad experience. Waitress cleaned the table by wiping her hand across it. Quick order of food took a long time, waiting for the cheque also took a long time. Drunken patrons at bar swearing loudly and the management did nothing. Nachos were stale. Overall a dirty, low class place, and I will never go back. Don’t be fooled thinking this is like other English pubs, like the Firkin franchise! UPDATE: I just discovered that they tried to put through a second charge on my credit card bill. AVOIDTHISPLACE, ANDIFYOUHAVETOGO, PAYBYCASH!

A venerable institution in the High Park/Junction area. This is one of the few bars that has it’s kitchen open until 2:00 a.m. in this area. It’s not my main bar, but I do rate it as one of my primary late-night spots, due to it’s kitchen. The food, in general, is good — and goes beyond traditional pub food with its customizable pizza and Mexican food options. A great selection of local and premium beer is another plus. They don’t have many local micro-brews, but do stock Alexander Keiths’ full compliment of brews on tap. Prices for these beers is reasonable. If you love playing pool, or love to sing Karaōke, this is the bar for you(I do neither). For watching sports events, this is my main bar due to their 100″ projection HDTV screen. This is even one of the few bars in Parkdale – High Park that have their washrooms on the ground floor, which is a big plus if you have friends that are mobility impaired. There are daily food specials that include 50 cent wings on Monday and Tuesday evenings; 8oz Burgers on Wednesday evenings: and full-rack ribs on Thursday. I think their wings are very good: moist and juicy. I recommend this place highly, provided you don’t mind the pool-shark or Karaōke atmosphere.

Karaōke’s ok(you never realize how horrible your regular kj is until you get a half decent one) and the food and drinks are tasty. I got a Cajun chicken sandwich that was tasty enough. Ordered a Greek salad with it and got fries. The waitress was kind enough to bring a replacement, but it turned out I should have stuck with the fries. I’d drop a half star if I could, but Unilocal don’t love me that much. Damn you, Unilocal.Let me half star these guys.

Jekyl and Hyde is a huge bar. The skinny patio littered with clusters of tiny tables that can be clumped together are a great warm weather option, but within is where the action goes down. Inside, seating varies from stools up at the bar, large tables, and booths. The servers are seasoned and deal well with large crowds. There are a good number of local and import drafts to choose from. The grilled salmon was reported to be super moist and tasty and the chili con carne alright as well. There are two reasons to visit and they are 1) sports games on the many screens throughout the bar and 2) karaōke on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays starting promptly at 10pm. I could really do without the guitar hero interludes, but the song selection is huge and if your song isn’t listed in the book that’s thicker than a Yellow Pages, the DJ can even play an amazing keyboard accompaniment for you — as long as you know all the lyrics by heart. But with a selection that spans Tenacious D’s «F*ck Her Gently» to «Defying Gravity»(from the Wicked musical soundtrack but made famous by Glee) and a diverse enough cast of characters to sing them, you’re bound to have a good time(or at least a good laugh). I myself had my first ever solo karaōke debut(of Neil Sedaka’s Breaking Up is Hard to Do) here and am now hooked. They might not know how to(or just don’t have the rights to) spell Jekyll properly, but there are guaranteed to be way less spelling mistakes on the karaōke screen than at your current norebang of choice.

I find the service and the food to be excellent… don’t sing but enjoy the Karaōke, not for all but it’s a fun way to spend your weekend nights, it’s a happy crowd! They have handycap pool leagues during the week… the only problem is trying to find a table that’s available. always busy in there.

Went for UFC100 [first time watching UFC, and this was the only place in the area that showed it] Got there at about 9:30pm, and at 10 they started into the Karaōke. This was my first time being in a bar where people sing, so it was pretty funny actually. There’s nothing like hearing a 60 year old intoxicated man belt out ‘New York New York.” I was amazed that some people were pretty good minus the DJ who wore a Tie-Dye shirt, and sang half the songs himself. Draft beers cost about $ 7 each. I didn’t order any food or look at the menu [for which my belly the next day was chanting the mantra«thank you… peace on earth.”] The atmosphere increased considerably as the night progressed when hoards of people crowded the bar for the UFC. What struck me as odd about this pub were the conflicting medias/attractions. Some people came for UFC, others for Karaōke. But which is it? For at least an hour they did both. I found it to be an odd combination — Karaōke music & large sweaty men pummeling each other mercilessly on a big screen. At one point they turned off the Karaōke for an hour or so to focus on the main events of UFC. In conclusion, this place was fine for what it was — only bar in the area to show pay-per-view UFC event. But for any other purpose, I would skip it. I don’t know if I could take the singing again.
