As a Mexican living in Toronto, I have to say this is as authentic and great as you can find in this city. This has become my go-to Mexican restaurant after the first bite!

Tasty tacos at a fraction of the price you pay down the street and delicious margaritas. Try chorizo and pulled pork tacos with a lime margarita to wash it all down. Skip the chicken options if you want lots of flavour.

Some of the best Mexican you can get in town for the price. Highly recommended.

This is probably the best classic Mexican restaurant in Toronto! Prices are extremely reasonable, portions generous and the food is fresh and flavourful. As opposed to other Mexican restaurants which I’ve found hyped up, expensive and bland, La Revolucion delivers. Highly recommend the pozole.

Came here for a friends birthday party. Experienced some pretty bad service. Possibly due to our large group(12) but we made a reservation days ahead so they should have staffed accordingly. Drinks came out slow, I only had one as no one ever came back to take a second drink order. Food came out even slower and only a few dishes at a time with half our table left hungry. The food was pretty scary. The ceviche was like a tepid, very fishy soup. The fish in my fish tacos was cold and obviously old, possibly cooked the day before. I was honestly worried we would all leave with food poisoning. The tortillas were stale. My meal was inedible. In some cases they tried to hide the poor quality of food with gallons of hot sauce which made many of the other dishes too spicy to eat. They didn’t even bother asking how we liked our meals, probably because they knew the answer. Prices are nuts, I won’t be returning.

WELL first off all these other people have obviousely nevered tried authentic mexican food from mexico. Having a spanish background and living in canada, i must say many places in toronto HASNOT been as great as this place. The mexican food you buy here actually taste like REAL mexican food. First time i came in to the place i really did feel like i was in mexico. CLEARLY the person talking about that it dosent scream out«mexican» well mexico is becoming more modren and hey do you really honestly want a place with plastic chairs, plaided table tops, colours… not really. i was really proud of the store owner. I must say everytime i go there i love the Enchiladas de mole is the best, i mean it taste like home. Then desert Pastel de tres leches is the best. this is the first time trying that and it wasnt too soggy or too dry it was honestly perfect. i cant complain about the prices, people are just cheep and once agian hasnt tasted real mexican food to say its honestly worth it. They are new yes, but escalading OBVIOUSELY it will be slow in the begining over all i just love this placee!

Taco Tuesdays for a Toonie! I’m basing my review based on tuesday tacos. In a nutshell, I’d only come back on Tuesdays because their tacos are so small that it’s only worth your money if it’s only $ 2. The tacos were tasty and mouth watering! I remember there were quite a few options. I ended up getting chicken tinga, steak and churizo. My favourite was the chicken, least favourite was the steak.

Tuesdays is $ 2 tacos. And overall they are quite satisfying for what ur paying. I recommend the Churizo, The Steak, and the Chipotle Chicken.

Margarita’s that are too die for! I’ve never eaten so much Mexican food in one sitting. Went with friends and we just kept ordering food. Everything was absolutely delicious. We started with nachos and were so tempted to order another serving. The tinga tacos were my favorite and the fajitas were on point. The mood was great on a friday night with a local band Les Petits Nouveaux serenading us. The owner even got up to perform a song and blew us away. We’ll definitely be coming back again and again!

As stated in the previous reviews, great atmosphere, friendly service, and reasonable prices. We got there at 6 on a Saturday and it was fairly quiet. When we left at 8, the restaurant was packed. Live music on Saturdays too! I will be back for more shrimp and white fish ceviche.

Came here as part of the TD Jazz Festival last night. They had a nice set up with the bad playing in the front, and you can munch and drink while listening to them. Only got a drink and some dessert, but seems like they serve Mexican food and might be a good alternative to Playa Cabana Cantina across the street. The question is, is the food good and authentic? Maybe. Menu has tacos and burritos among other things. But the Sangria was really good. A little pricey at $ 6, but a good sized portion and glass size. It wasnt super sweet where it tastes like juice, and had real fruit. Seems like they make it, not from syrup. We also got fresh churros for $ 2 each Super crispy, but a little thick on the dough — it was still good with condensed milk drizzled on top. I wasn’t super impressed, but I definitely might give it a try again if craving mexican food.

The food at La Revolucion is authentic and quite good, especially considering how affordable the prices are. The service is sleepy but charming, and the functional décor is enhanced by Mexican pop music. Our only significant complaints are the lukewarm tapwater and the fact that the room is much too BRIGHT. Some dimmer lighting and real candles(not the fake ones they’re using) would make this spot truly charming and enjoyable, rather than merely tolerable. We certainly would have stayed and had an after-dinner drink if not for the bright overhead lighting. Still, proper Mexican at fair prices.

The best thing about this place is the price. Playa Cabana down the street is trendier and tastier — but that means expensive and busy. I recently came here with a friend for lunch and we had the place to ourselves. We both had enchiladas with green sauce(choice between red or green). Three small corn tortillas are filled with meat and topped with warm sauce and crema. The side of rice is standard and soaks up the excess, mild, green sauce. We tried a bit of red sauce on the side, and it was fiery! A whole dish of red sauce would be overwhelming. The beef was surprisingly tender, however there could have been much more of it. The dish was actually not very filling. The service and atmosphere are nothing to write about. Kings Taco on St. Clair is far better and for the same price!

Very disappointing meal :( Guacamole was decent and Mojitoes were great but we shared the fajitas and it was bland bland bland! Won’t be going back.

Sigh, I so badly wanted to like La Revolucion. The people are friendly, the décor is spartan(in a non-ironic way), but the food — well — it was disappointing. I will first say that the guacamole is truly out of this world. TONS of avocado, creamy, and overall delicious. Their nachos are great. But really ruined it for me was their ceviche. First, it was warm. WARM! After taking the first bite, I thought I was probably in for an evening of food poisoning. The fish and shrimp tasted like it had been boiled in lime juice. The shrimp also tasted like an algae covered fish tank. Not so appealing. My fiancé’s tacos were okay, slightly bland, he said. All that to say, if you are coming for drinks and nachos, and live music(which was fun) definitely come here. But for anything else, not so sure.

Great Salsa, beers, and chips! Chicken Mole and Tacos were better than average. The atmosphere fun, funky, and is nice for a hole in the wall.

We had dinner at La Revlucion in the fall so my review is a bit delayed. I always get excited when a new restaurant opens in the neighbourhood so we were looking forward to our meal. We ordered an appetizer, shrimp tacos and a burrito, along with 2 Mexican pops. Most entrees were priced between $ 10-$ 12. Service was very slow with only 1 waitress working and the space was almost full. It took almost 40 min. before we got our food. It was tasty and we really liked the salsa verde that accompanied it. I would love to see this restaurant succeed but we haven’t been back since our first visit. I guess I’m looking for motivation to return.
