Awful experience. If they offer to make alterations to a non-purchased coat for a «fully refundable deposit», DONTSAYYES. It’s a very shady and manipulative sales tactic that they hope will result in forfeiture of the deposit or a sale based on guilt. Not a sustainable business strategy. In my case, I had to fight with the owner to get the deposit back. They were incredibly rude. I’ve actually never had an experience this bad before.

I bought a coat here during the winter holidays. It was so expensive, even at its given sale price. Then I found out that the official store of the brand of the coat I bought had a much better sale for the same coat – more than $ 200 less than what I had paid at Lorne’s. I couldn’t get a price adjustment or a refund. It must have been my worst shopping experience of 2013. The salesperson was very pushy. I didn’t need her opinion at all. Actually, the sales staff there seemed sketchy. Each person gave a different price for the same alteration service. They seemed to have pulled prices out of their butts. One even said I couldn’t keep a part that I wanted to remove, which made me think they were selling knockoffs. To be fair, I was able to get a confirmation that the store was a licensed reseller of the brand of the coat that I bought. There are better places to shop for the same or similar products.

I have bought two coats from Lorne’s, a long navy winter wool top coat and a summer/spring rain slicker type of coat. The former was pricey but good quality and made in Canada as an in house brand. The latter is another brand, probably made in China.(it was considerably less money). Both have worked well for me. The buying experience was pleasant; I like going to stores that do just one thing and do it well. I will eventually return to replace my current parka. (and as commented above, yes, the interior is quite basic and stores like the Bay might provide more ambiance but the cost is passed on to the customer)

I bought the«water resistant» raincoat they were using in their ads, it looks like a trench coat and is very nice looking, with a slight ruffle down the front. It conveniently folds into a little bag that looks like a purse. I have never been so disappointed with a coat — and I paid about $ 200 for it, which is much more than I usually spend on a coat. The salesperson in the store poured water on it to show its water resistance. The first time I went out in the rain without an umbrella, I got soaked! All the water came in through the seams in the shoulders and I was freezing. I would not recommend this coat unless you only want it for looks. In no way should you consider it a «raincoat»! I wish I had returned it. I will probably never shop at Lorne’s again.

You want selection? You’ll find a huge selection her of well made jackets. This isn’t a place where you’ll find a ‘deal’, as you’re paying for a quality. Lots of pea coats, trenches … selection is incredible!

If you’re looking for a high quality coat of any kind, it’s here. A knowledgable staff put me in a new winter coat on the first try. A coat that is very me and I hope to wear for years to come! Added bonus? Made in Canada! Pricey, but worth it. A coat is a style statement as well as providing a function and should last seasons. One stop shop for any dress/pea/trench/puffy/rain/over coat men’s or women’s.

I got my coat! On the two week mark, when I hadn’t heard back from the store about my pending order, I called them and found out my coat was there since last week. It seems the girl who took down the order managed to mess up my name and phone number. I went in that same day and tried on the jacket. It seems as though I was still a little too bootyliscious for the last button not to pull across my hips. The cashier told me that they could move the button over just slightly to accommodate me(and my junk!) Ten minutes late it was done and I was told that I could select a scarf from their rack as an apology for messing up my number.
