I spent a fortune for a miserable experience and nails so awful I had them done elsewhere on the way home. My nails were filed crooked, three cuticles made to bleed, and the polish was sloppy and bubbled on four nails. My feet were as rough as they were before. The worst part was that the woman who did my nails was unbearably rude. I haven’t encountered a colder, nastier person in twenty years of going to spas in Toronto. I felt like garbage the whole time I was there and couldn’t wait for it to be over. I went somewhere else to have everything redone as soon as I got out of there and made a profile on here just to share my experience because it was so awful. I’d be upset even if I hadn’t even paid for it, but when I consider the amount of money I spent, I could cry.

3.5 Stars. I had arrived more than an hour early for another appointment on Cumberland so I thought I’d pop in to Lux to get a pedicure to waste the time. You think that would be enough time but I arrived at my appointment 15 min late! And it was 90 $ with tax + tip for a shellac pedicure. I mean, they did a great job but there’s only so good a job you can do before it just becomes exorbitant and pointless bc they’re just feet, you know? For that money, I would expect maybe some cappuccino, bottle of water, and/or a free hand massage or something more spa-like and luxurious. I would return if it was a special event, but wouldn’t make them my go-to place as I can’t afford that(and even if I could, wouldn’t spend that $.) I guess I’m just not their clientele, I suppose.

Great pedi. The girls here are professional, and know how to pamper. They even helped me wrap up my feet after so that my boots wouldn’t wreck the polish. It’s small and a bit hard to find but it’s well worth it if you’re looking for a higher-end spa. Will be back to splurge for an occasion!

As my friend’s Maid of Honour, I needed to find a spa that could accommodate 4 ladies for shellac manis, 3 weeks prior to our Spa date! Lux was the ONLY spa out of 5 – 6 I contacted which could do so. They promptly replied to my email inquiries — responding within 15 min of my hitting«send». So before I even stepped in the door, I was impressed by their service. The location is great — in the heart of Yorkville. This also means it’s quite pricey. I normally am not willing to pay so much for a mani — but it was for a special occasion so I was willing to go for the best. The shop is small, modern and very clean. Our party of 4 had great help in choosing the perfect colours for each person, and we were served hot coffee/tea as we had our manis done. We chose the shellac manis because the wedding was a week away and we needed them to last. And last they did! My shellac mani lasted 2 full weeks — and even survived an ultimate frisbee match. Although they do take walk-ins, you probably would want to make an appointment because the shop is small so you’re taking a chance if you just pop-in without notice.

I read about this place in a magazine one summer and decided to give it a try. Gina really does give the best mani-pedis I have ever had. I find my finger polish lasts about 6 – 7 days and my toe polish a month, if not more. They use the best products and although they are very pricey it is definitely worth it. Also, if you have been gone a while they take the extra step to send you an e-mail and see what is up, great customer service.

The Lux girls give great quality mani and pedis, but it is expensive! 45 min basic manicure = $ 36.75, 60 min basic pedicure = $ 57.75. The shop is fairly small but is in the heart of Yorkville; it’s modern and spotless. I think appointments are recommended.

Soooo expensive, but yet so worth it. Gina gives the best manis and pedis that I’ve found since moving to the city. And they carry wonderful products that smell delicious. Recommended for anyone who’s picky about their nails…
