So this is for the store on Queen St. EAST… But i don’t see a Unilocal for that location. So today the young girl at Mac Fab just told me the only reason they charge double the price for pattern hooks is ONLY bc their store is on the east end of Queen not on the west end as the others. REALLY? No other reason to charge double for the same product. Disgusting. Pattern hooks are bought in bulk then resold… this is disappointing. Lost shoppers. Pattern hooks at Mac Fab $ 1.50 per hook Neverans $ 0.88 per hook. And these 2 stores are 15 minutes away from each other. Plus I don’t really think this was the best customer service response.

This tiny shop always has every kind of sewing notion I ever need for any project. A hop, skip and jump away from my home, I can pop in whenever I need X for the random thing I just started. They also have lovely displays and show off very inspiring works made by the local milliner.

MacFab is one stop shopping for fabrics, pillows, throws, wallpaper, custom furniture, and design advice. I’ve used them several times for home furnishing and outdoor patio cushions, and always so pleased with the quality of work and results — Dale and Patrick really know what works for you!

This store is great, as is their sister store across the road. They have great fabrics. The store across the road has some fantastic examples of interesting things to do with textiles, like a velvet tufted wall treatment, which I totally fell in love with. Super great place, that’s fun to peruse…

Stopped in here to take a look at drapery fabrics after having a tough time finding anything I liked at a few other great fabric stores(i.e. King Textiles, etc). MacFab moved here from Queen West a short while back and fits right into the trendy(but certainly more quiet) Leslieville ‘hood. This place can be very intimidating but I had an easy time with Becks helping me traverse the endless books of samples at a lower price range. Shear fabrics are typically cheaper than drapes, which can vary in cost from around $ 35-$ 90+ per yard(thankfully only 1-yard minimum per order for those which must be custom-ordered). Beautiful, high-quality fabrics! BUT they’re very expensive once you do the math. You’ll get quality for the price(UV protected, high-traffic stain protection, etc), but jeez it’s a punch in the wallet for sure. I appreciated the excellent and attentive service, with no bullying or pressure to buy. I wound up «renting» a book to take home and see in my space — easy with just a credit slip copy made and returned once you bring back the book, at no cost. While some of these prices are comparabl(ish) to Designer Fabrics in Parkdale, I’d say their selection at MacFab is a bit more youthful and up-to-date. Can’t wait to go nuts here once I’m a millionaire! Tip! They’ve also got a home store on the North side of the street just a few steps West. Haven’t been in, but I believe its more finished pieces/home décor items as opposed to fabrics.

They have great selection here — I was looking for a fabric to redo my couch in and found quite a few. The woman who helped me was very helpful, but when I asked if she could write down the names and codes of the fabrics for me she said«No, but you can» and gave me a pen and paper. I worked in retail for nearly 4 years and whenever asked I always wrote down info for customers. I found that really obnoxious and it put me off. I wasn’t trying to be lazy, I was trying to make sure I was given the appropriate info for the woman who is redoing my couch.

This is an interesting fabric and textiles store on Queen St. West. They have a lot of beautiful fabrics for upholstery, drapes and interior design(pillows, accent walls, etc). Come here if you are looking for: — steel and spring boning for corsets(note: they don’t carry steel busks, but they do sell the caps for cut steel boning) — faux fur — unique and beautiful buttons — high end textiles: silk, suede, leather Things range from mid-priced to expensive. I only come here for specific things since it will stretch my budget quite a bit. I do not come here for my usual sewing notions and thread needs.

For me, it’s more a museum than a business since I have no hope of ever being able to sew and no plans of marriage in the near future. That said, I love to finger my way down the aisles — touching the rich beautiful silk, then moving my way into the suede, and finally into the leather. They have rolls of funky, classic, and just plain exquisite fabrics. I really enjoy my tour of this place — and of course there is no entry fee.

personally i can’t stand this place, but i know it fills a certain niche so i’ll give it two stars for that. they sell amy butler fabrics for $ 20+/yd. that’s obscene. i don’t think you could ever get me to spend this kind of money on fabrics– although they are very nice fabrics– i’ll give them that.
