Good service, decent patio, pretty good menu, My buddy had the fried chicken sandwich, which from the looks at other tables seems to be very popular, sadly I had the fish and chips, the portion was generous and the fries were good(not double fried though) my issue was the fish was overcooked, well the batter was, came out dark brown and a little to thick for my liking as well. Being so thick also meant it was very greasy. The fish however was fresh enough. overall a decent place for a pint and food, I’d just suggest you leave the fish and chips alone and order something else. It wasn’t good, and I was left staring longingly at the awesome looking chicken Sammy my buddy had. Totally regretted getting the fish… lesson learned…

This saddens me to write this but I have to be the Norma Rae of pub grub and to fight the good fight against restaurant corporations like Fab, the new owners. Murphy’s Law has been my go-to corner pub since it opened way back. It’s always had its flaws but it had heart. It was a mix of local beachers, hot volleyball player types, and old race track drunkards which was cool. The pints were always cold and you could count on a good plate of fries to share or wolf on your own. Then a few months ago it re-opened after changing owners. I understand Fab owns the Dominion at Queen and River, the Pour House, Brazen Head, Against the Grain and some others. The décor is kind of the same, repurposed barn wood, that girly font that McDonalds is now using for their artisanal burgers, the waitstaff outfits, and the menu. I’ve been here a few times, enticed by the $ 4.50 pour which is whatever is featured that day but! the pour is not a pint!!! When you are used to pints, that little bit less makes a difference and of course you will order more. Also the food is lacklustre here. I had a lacklustre chicken sandwich with soggy ass fries and the fish(rubbery) and chips(again soggy ass). The weirdest thing was the nacho plate which was organized by someone with OCD. the only reason I’m giving it a star at all is that the staff has been stellar so far. I will go here for drinks because of the convenience but save my appetite of the Burgers Priest or KFC(shh, don’t tell anyone) next door.

We’ve come here a couple of times after a long Sunday of beach volleyball. It’s conveniently located and it allows everyone to keep mingling even after getting burned and hurt playing on hot sand all day. On our recent visit, we realized that they had renovated(both the interior and the menu). While the menu looks nicer, everything has become slightly pricier. I ordered the fish tacos(2 for $ 13) and let me tell you, this was quite the disappointment. It was like something I could have made at home, sad and definitely not worth the price. They should have at least made it 3 for the price I paid. The people who got burgers seemed to enjoy said burgers, although it was still quite pricey for burgers(roughly the same price or more). The service was friendly but crazy slow. We had a large group and we also didn’t make it easy by changing seats to include late arriving guests, but it took the servers half an hour just to cash us all out. While the updates seem nice, talking what was once a dive pub to the next level means we probably won’t be returning post beach time again. And if I did return, I would only get one of their pitchers of sangria and some apps.

My friend and I tried to eat there on May 282016 when we were asked to leave the restaurant since my friend used to work there. Apparently they have a policy that those who worked there CANNOT dine till 6 months after the end of their end date!!! We and our dogs were so tired and exhausted from the heat and walking and just wanted to rest a bit and have a drink… The only reason that I could think of for this policy is that they want to prevent the staff from giving their friends discounts/free drinks or food!!! If that’s the case this policy should include family or friends of current staff as well!!! The most interesting part was that the manager didn’t even bother to come herself and asked one the waitresses to inform us of this great policy… I think this policy is discriminatory and irrational. I won’t ever go back to that place or any affiliated establishments… This was the most horrible experience I have ever had when it comes to dinning out…

The only actual pint they serve is Guinness and they don’t know how to pour it properly. Otherwise you are stuck with only 14 oz glass of beer choice. Trio of poutine was terrible. Arrived at our table cold and the server couldn’t tell us which was the pork and which one was wild boar. Didn’t matter. They were all awful. We left at least 50% of it and at no point were we asked why we failed to eat what we ordered. Service was poor at best. With all the pubs in the area there is no need to go to this one. It’s a corporate chain and feels like it, wish it was a friendly neighbourhood pub! Will not return.

Staff were ok and the reno looks good, but Holy Moly, how can a restaurant charge $ 14 for SEVEN wings… and they were some of the skinniest wings I have ever seen. In addition, the nachos were dry and really low on the toppings. My kids at home make better nachos. I hope the ownership finds some better kitchen staff, because we won’t be coming back until they do. Quite disappointed.

Visited here on the weekend as it has been revamped and had a menu change. I’ll start with the bad and end with the good. I definitely preferred the food before the revamp. The edamame was dry and tater tots(well they’re tater tots, they were frozen but fine). The chicken bao was the big disappointment, it was just two lumps of chicken in a not very good bao. The waitress we had was not very pleasant, she was super friendly to the table beside us and wouldn’t crack a smile when serving us which was really off putting. They do have a $ 4.50 drink special every day and I really dig the new interior. I don’t eat burgers but I seen one come out and it looked good. This place has been around a long time so not likely to just close up shop. I do hope they address some of the menu items, they look good on paper but I wouldn’t eat here again. I definitely will visit again for some drinks with friends. Whether this could be a new local depends on how the staff situation plays out next time. But definitely check it out and judge for yourself.

This weekend marks the final weekend before Murphy’s Law is closed for renovation till last week of February. I’ll now have to look elsewhere for a pint of my favourite drink there Guiness. Full of anticipation, it will be excited and wondering how the new menu & renovation changes to this pub will be. Meantime l’ll have to look for a neighborhood pub to hangout that’s close to the Beaches, which would be a challenge. Murphy’s Law has great drinks, friendly servers and people plus, great food(yes, you heard it right) eventhough it’s a pub grub. Stay tuned till they get back in March 2016!

This place use to be great. They have one of the best patios in the beach with overhanging flowers and a lake view in the summer. However, they’ve recently changed the menu, raised the prices yet the quality of the food went way down. The plate of nacos shrunk in size yet now they put less cheese and dump the salsa and sour cream on. Who wants soggy nachos from The salsa sitting on them? … The prime rib was definitely not a prime rib cut of meat, it was some sort of cheap cut of steak and the mashed potatoes arrived cold and Yorkshire pudding was old. Very dissapointing.

Unfortunately Murphy’s law came true at Murphy’s Law. The service was poor, it took 40 minutes to order our food and even longer for it to be served. Once it did arrive the appetizers were not what we expected(bruschetta on flatbread with no bruschetta and jerk chicken quesadillas with plain chicken) and the entrees were worse. Both burgers were overlooked, I believe one of my friends compared it to cat food and the veggie burger was served on a beyond stale bun. Some food wasn’t bad(sweet potato fries, calamari, chicken club) but most of it was highly disappointing. To be fair the manager was accommodating and comped some of our food and drinks, but it was not enough to make up for the ssssssllllloooooowwwww service and well below average food. Needless to say, we will not be returning.

This place is huuuuuge. But that’s a good thing. $ 4 Caesar bar(the drink not the salad) on the weekend until 3pm and the food is tasty too. I had a delicious blue cheese burger. The bartender was friendly and accommodating. There is a great front and rooftop patio. Great place for large groups and the place to be on St. Paddy’s Day.

Summertime on the rooftop enjoying some beers! So relaxing and a beautiful view of the town and to hangout catch up with good friends and loved ones. They offer a lot of choices of drinks and food. Staff is cool and nice. Will come back next time to enjoy more than just the booze.

Murphy’s Law Irish Pub is an ideal spot for date rapists to bring women. Been to Murphy’s a couple dozen times, didn’t particularly like it apart from two things: great rooftop patio, and it’s close to my place(and the beach.) The food is a little overpriced across the board– it’s fairly typical pub quality with above average prices. Due to location, it’s often a busy place and service can be slow at times. Taking into consideration their rooftop patio, I might have given it three stars, but I had an absurd experience here the other night that stripped me of any respect I had for this business. I went with some friends for food after a festival at Woodbine Park(where a friend of mine admittedly got a little drunk.) When we arrived we asked if there was room on the second floor(first floor was packed,) were told yes, and made our way up. As we were sitting down, our waitress noticed my friend was drunk,(I’m guessing) by the way she was walking and talking.(Not tripping, being beligerent or anything like that, just noticeably tipsy.) We sat down, decided what we wanted to eat, and eventually our waitress busily passed our table, and in passing told me she wouldn’t serve my friend. Somewhat surprised, I said that was okay(assuming she meant drinks, which we didn’t want anyways.) Our waitress didn’t come back to take a food order for some time, so– bored as I was– I thought I’d feign to make 100% sure my friend would be able to order food at some point(I was more just reminding the waitress our table still hadn’t ordered.) I got her attention, asked, and was wide-eyed when she told me it would be against company policy to serve my friend any food. My friend was terribly embarassed, but all of us have worked at various bars and restaurants(about a dozen between us,) and never even heard of a policy refusing food to intoxicated people(infact, bars are legally required to provide some sort of food option so people too intoxicated have a way to sober up.) At next opportunity I asked our waitress the logic behind this company policy, and, as she explained it the belief was– and I feel ridiculous just typing this but– *if we serve her food, and something happens to her, like she trips down the stairs on her way out, there will no longer be proof we didn’t serve her drinks.* I inquired how serving her food would have any impact on proving whether or not she had been served drinks, and the answers were unclear, if not obviously feeble-minded. I scoffed at the absurdity, and we were on our way out to somewhere else for food when I figured I’d get the waitress’ name and talk with a manager the next day. To my luck, while I was waiting for another free moment with our waitress, a manager passed by. I explained to him what had happened, and although his tone was much more agreeable, he simply reiterated what our waitress had said. I pointed out the policy’s flaws in logic, and how an intoxicated person would be more likely to trip downstairs without eating. He said, ‘well, ideally she should’ve been told we wouldn’t serve her food before she came upstairs.’ I asked him, ‘But now that we are up here, and serving her food obviously has no impact on proving whether or not you served her additional drinks– can she order her food when we order ours? [In retrospect I should’ve just ordered two entrees myself and given one to her. Also, so the reader understands– she was not approaching messy ‘blackout’ drunk– we went up and down the stairs, and went about the rest of our night, without the slightest concern for incident. Neither was she loud, juvenile, nor on verge of throwing up. Additionally, this place bills itself as an ‘Irish Pub.’]’ He apologized, but insisted on the powerlessness of all who dwell within those hollowed walls to that ancient and mysterious policy. We left, discussing the unreasonable policy and our bafflement for hours to come. Date rapists rejoice: policy at Murphy’s Law denies intoxicated women any sobering food or non-alcoholic beverages. This is one fake a$$ Irish Pub you don’t want to have more than an(overpriced) pint or two in. There are people in management positions who clearly don’t have the brain power to belong there, and on principle I’m avoiding future patronage.

Beer is extremely over-priced! When you order a pitcher, you get a ridiculously small container that they call a pitcher that holds just 35 oz(a normal pitcher is 60 oz). Their tiny pitcher costs $ 14 and if you do the math, it would cost $ 24 if it were a full size pitcher. Pros: it’s a nice area not too far from the beach and they have a nice patio.

I have come here several times for drinks which are amazing especially on the rooftop patio. On a gorgeous sunny day it doesn’t get any better than this. However the food is pretty meh. They are willing to accommodate and make changes to their menu which was nice, however there are still limited options for vegans or vegetarians. I used to have the portobello mushroom burger which is pretty much the only item on the menu that I would/could modify because of my dietary restrictions.

Awsome pulled beef sandwich. I ordered it with the Kale ceaser salad, yum yum. The Kale Caesar salad is a must have. I also grabbed an order of sweet potato fries, which I love. I enjoyed a lovely Cabernet Sauvignon and a calimari taco while I waited for my order. Wonderful!!! I took it to go as I had to get home for Big Brothers 1st episode for this year.

Service is friendly and good! The rooftop patio is pretty neat when it’s sunny. Had ribs the first time we went there. It was pretty good, a bit too sweet for my friend and I though. Their ceasars are good! Second time, we had beef poutine. It was a bit cold and the cheese hadn’t melted properly. Did not stop me from eating it but it was a bit disappointing. For pub’s food, it’s good! Good place for drinks and good service!

Some friends secured a table on the roof top patio here for dinner and drinks on my last night in Toronto. After winding our way through the maze of rooms and staircases we finally made it to our table. The patio is surrounded by glass walls which provide a great view of the neighbourhood, except that they have large planters hanging from the glass which blocks most of the view. The service was alright, but the food was really great for a pub. My friends were drooling over my plate after they decided to go with the old standby of a burger and fries. If I’ve ever looking for a bar in TO again, I’ll be coming back here.
