I went here on the recommendation of google reviewers– yes there were some bad reviews, but then again what business doesn’t have a few dissatisfied customers? But given the overall google rating and that the business appeared on the first page of a google search, I was optimistic. I’ve never been to a pawn shop before, but I have bought a small gold bars and loose diamonds from jewellers before. I thought Oren was something along those lines, but it’s not, it’s a pawn shop. The pictures on their google page reflect the actual store front. You have to buzz twice to get in, not surprised, most jewellery stores are the same. Then there’s thick glass a thin slot not even large enough for me to put my jewellery into the hands of the«appraiser». The appraiser looked frighteningly unprofessional, with fly away hair, wearing a white tank, cover-alls/apron, a welder’s mask, and half an unlit cigarette sticking out of his mouth. I put a pair of 2 carat diamond earrings, in a 24 karat gold setting into his hands, very apprehensively, and asked their value. He weighed them roughly in his hand and said $ 50!!! I laughed, and said«okay, thanks», and gestured to have them back. He returned them and said, okay $ 100. I said«no, that’s okay»; then he said«if you get offered more than $ 150 for them come back.» I said«no thanks». I definitely won’t be going back and certainly wouldn’t recommend Oren to anyone else wanting to sell their valuables.

DONTGOHERE!!! First off i would like to mention that i have been to many places that buy your gold and this is by far the WORSTPLACEEVER! I drove all the way from Ajax to go here thinking that they are friendly people from the commercial you see on tv and i was dead wrong. The place is smaller than my washroom and lets not forget the cat food and litter box inside the room that makes you feel like you are in jail. I ask the older man to give me a price point for a few pieces of gold i had and he takes my jewelry and disappears in the back after 10 mins or so comes out with 70 $!! I have sold enough pieces to know that i was being ripped off and before he could even ask me to sign anything i ask for my jewelry back because i wanted to get a price point first and i knew that my gold was worth way more than 70 $. The man then starts to tell me that my jewelry isn’t worth much and that i wont get it for more than what he is paying me and made it seem like HE is doing a favour for me by giving me 70 $ for my jewelry. Much like the other people that have had the same horrible experience he starts yelling at me saying, «how much you want??» I was totally shocked and dumbfounded to say the least! I have never been treated with such disrespect by anyone. I have never really posted a review about my bad experiences but for this place i had to. If i can save anyone their time, gas and money then my purpose of this comment is being served. Oh and the comments from«Oren» himself about taking steps to improve their service is pure bull shit! I was there 2 days ago and nothing is different from the time that he posted his comment. This place doesn’t even deserve half a star.

while i was getting my fancy-pants manicure, i saw a commercial for oren’s. fun fact #1: the outside shot of oren’s is actually where you go. fun fact #2: the inside where the woman is getting paid for her gold that looks like a nice jewelry establishment is nothing like the place actually looks.
