I had a haircut here a while back — I read somewhere that they did a great job. Man was that ever wrong. Yes the stylist was super nice and polite, but he didn’t listen to a thing I asked for. I asked for a 2 in. trim with some really fine layers — I have super thick heavy hair and just wanted to keep it long and cut the split ends. He cut off over 5+ in!!! My hair went from being at my bra strap to being at my shoulders. 90% one length and then some random scraggle of longer bits in the back. I absolutely hate it. He blow dried it so that I looked like Marissa Mayer from Yahoo — I almost cried. For the last 2 mths I have worn my hair in a pony tail EVERYDAY trying to grow it out. I will NEVER ever ever ever go there again. I miss my hair :( It was also the most I’ve ever spent for a hair cut — you can get some great deals around Toronto — I complete regret this decision.

I came to Prive on a recommendation from a friend, and while I was impressed with the friendly staff, ambiance, and the hand treatments, I was not impressed with my polish! I came here for a manicure on a Tuesday evening. The place was empty except for us, but we did make appointments just in case. The spa is beautiful — very serene and well decorated, without being the tiniest bit tacky. A plus! My manicurist was friendly and did a great job on my hand treatments and cuticles. I got the additional paraffin treatment, which was an additional $ 5(not sure I think it’s worth it, but was good for a one-time thing). They have a great selection of polish, but I still ended with my classic bright coral colour. Then the polish happened. The first coat was a bit sloppy, but I figured hey, that can be repaired on the second coat. However, when the second coat was also sloppy and had some bubbles, I spoke up. It was almost as if she didn’t hear me say«Oh, there are a few small bubbles» because she shut up and acted like I hadn’t said anything. When I got home I really realized how sloppy the manicure really was, and within 2 days the polish had chipped. On day 4, I gave up an removed it. So, bad manicures happen. What makes this one worse is that it was FORTYDOLLARS! For manicure only! It wouldn’t be fair if I didn’t note that my friends manicure looked great and seemed to last an appropriate amount of time, but, since mine wasn’t lasting, unfortunately I won’t be back.
