Was putzing around Kensington and came across a small sign for «Proper Barbers». Don’t let the upstairs area scare you off, these guys are great and the place is so hip it hurts. Lads were getting all kinds of funky haircuts. Fades, fauxhawks, the works.
I let my barber decide what worked best with my hair. He actually spent some time combing it and thinking about. He gave me a nice undercut and left it long in the front. The girlfriend loves it. He also threw in the hot towel treatment and a little trim of my facial hair. All for $ 30. Highly recommended.

Great shop, great price. I didn’t ask for anything special, but it was the most thorough haircut I’ve ever had. Make sure to book an appointment though!

This place is a hidden gem in Kensington Market!
After trying many different barbers in Toronto, asking for one thing and getting something completely different, I finally found one that gives you what you ask for.
The fade that the barbers do at Proper Brothers is amazing! Tony is my go to guy at the shop, he’s easy going and super friendly. I also tried other barbers there, they all do a pretty good job!
This barber shop is located 30 minutes away from where I live and I still make it all the way there for a hair cut. Highly recommend this place.

Hidden away in the back of a clothing store, this is a very basic, MENS barbershop. No fancy schmancy spa nonesense. Just a good, quick haircut at a decent price.
They don’t appear to do full wash/​dry etc… but we’re men, we don’t need that nonesense :)
Although the scissors come out as needed, cuts are mostly done with clippers, but these guys are gifted. This is not some quick buzz cut and you’re done. They wield the clippers the way a salon stylist does her scissors.
I paid about 20 $ for my cut… well worth it. Tony was easy going, friendly, and made a few ‘daring’ recommendations… something most salons don’t bother to do… they just cut without engaging.
Very impressed… great addition to the area.
