WOULDNEVERRETURN I came hear a few years ago to get very natural highlights. I asked for«very natural, one shade away from my natural colour». I have chocolate brown hair, and when the stylist removed the tin foil, I was looking at BLEACHBLONDE highlights. I almost had a heart attack!!! I immediately told her it wasn’t what I wanted. She told me she could use«toner» to lighten the colour. We put the toner on, which is some sort of toxic stuff– could feel it burning my eyes and nostrils but I was not about to leave with my very un“natural” highlights. The stylist kept insisting that if I left the toner on, I would barely even be able to see the highlights. I don’t know what she was on! We took the toner off, and the highlights remained extremely light blonde. I was absolutely shocked. I had to go to another salon and they had to fill in my hair with mid-toned highlights to resolve the situation– and I basically ended up blonde in the process.

This place is a joke! The staff dress in horribly tight outfits and outdated sandals, even in the winter, which is laughable, as all of the staff are old and overweight! I have been in twice to buy hair products. The first time, a sign said that there would be a 20% discount if cash was used. I paid cash and I had to remind the person«helping» me about the sign. I think they often try to cheat customers. The second time, I asked a person in the salon to help me reach a product. It was sticky and had 3 inches of dust on it. No thanks. The attitudes of all the staff are incredibly rude and they constantly speak in another language, in front of customers that do not understand them. I really hope this place closes down!

I recently got my hair done at the Ray Daniel salon at Yonge & Eglinton Centre on a whim. There seemed to be a lot of clients in the tiny space, and I was in desperate need of a cut and colour correction due to a box dye root touch-up gone bad. I went in and asked a woman about a colour correction, and she showed me a seat and told me that a stylist, Hellen, would be able to help me in a few minutes(she was the the first stylist that would be finished with her client). Hellen was extremely efficient and even though her English was limited, she understood exactly what I wanted. I’ve had my hair coloured at different salons, she is one of two stylists who have successfully removed the brassy tones from my hair. The only downfall was that she cut my hair a bit shorter than I wanted, but in all fairness the bottom of my long hair was in bad shape and she was just doing her job to fix it. It’s not the nicest and fanciest salon, but if you’re in the area and need a cut/colour for a decent price, I would try out Ray Daniel. $ 176 for colour, cut, wash, & blow-dry with tax & tip(for really long hair). Keep in mind that all services are priced according to the stylist’s experience and length of your hair so ask for a consultation first! In regards to the other reviewer, I can say that I did not see any signage advertising piercing and tattoo services so I believe they have removed it.

This establishment is located on the Food Court level at the Yonge & Eglinton RioCan Centre, next to the escalators up to the main level. The location is ridiculously small in size which I didn’t mind since they were only offering hair, nail and other beauty salon/spa services. I then started noticing printer paper signs informing clients that they were offering Body Piercing as well as Tattooing. After some research I found out the following information: — inspection of Ray Daniel Salon and Spa at 2300 Yonge Street was conducted on March 13 and March 15; — Order was issued under Section 13 of the Health Protection and Promotion Act to not provide ear, body piercing and tattooing services until approved by Toronto Public Health. This means they were in violation of various policies and protocols set forth by Toronto Public Health, when offering these two services. Remember when seeking Body Piercing & Tattooing, seek out professional Body Modification establishments. Do NOT go to Salons and Spas that are flying under the Toronto Public Health’s radar by slipping in Tattooing and Piercing, to cash in on the recent increase in popularity. Make sure you get all your piercings and tattoos done by a professional studio that is routinely inspected by Toronto Public Health!
