my grandparents all were raised on farms and still survive on their own grown and raised food. it’s really sad to note that we no longer can be 100% content with the products we buy since EVERYTHING is so processed and full of chemicals. what happened to our farmers doing it the natural way? this is why i love rowe farms, they are one of the very few places that still believe in rustic, no frills products that are produced the way they should be. i personally love their hot dogs and eggs. usually when i think about hot dogs, i think about huge processing plants mashing up every last piece of left over meat and adding bins of corn starch and other crap. the craving for a hot dog fades away fast. however, this place has the best hot dogs and you can be assured that the meat you’re getting isn’t some nasty chicken heads off the floor. their eggs remind me of my grandparents eggs that i use to eat as a child. REAL eggs. once you’ve had real eggs straight from the chicken and real milk straight from the cow(i know this isn’t necessarily ideal) you will know the difference in taste automatically. i’m really glad that we still have these kinds of places. the prices may be higher but that’s what you pay for quality and in an overall sense, it’s totally worth it.

We are buying from Rowe Farms for 3 years now — eggs, steaks and occasionally extra lean ground beef and Kobasa sausage. You can really see the difference when it comes to their eggs. The yolk is so much more orange compared to the other eggs that you can get at a supermarket. And they taste equally better as well. I’m not even sure how to describe their steaks. They are just amazing. So flavorful. It hardly gets any better than that. So it totally justifies the higher price. Their staff is great too. Everybody there is just super nice and friendly.

I’ll admit, after seeing Food Inc. I actually started giving a shit where my meat comes from. I’m never going to be a vegetarian and I don’t really care if a meat is certified organic — i just care that the food which ends up on my table is treated humanely and not pumped with antibiotics and hormones through the course of its life. While Rowe farms isn’t organic, They are all about natural, locally-grown, hormone-free farming. Which, now, is important to me. The Bloor West location has fantastic staff that are always helpful. Sara, in particular, has been my go-to girl. She’s helped me out a number of times with either preparation tips or even calling another location to see if they had stock of what I was looking for(in this case 6 racks of ribs) — Which is how I met Matt over at the Roncy location. The positive experiences at both locations compelled me to write this review and hopefully more people will give them a try. Their dairy case is often cheaper than Metro or Loblaws — same products, just a wee bit cheaper. Rowe also has locally grown vegetables and prepared foods from Sabor Latino as well. Whether you are a looking for a quick grilling idea and don’t want to fuss with marinating or preparation, or you need to stock up on meat for the week or even if you want to pick up some organic dairy — give Rowe Farms your business.

Bravo Rowe! After twenty-years in the St. Lawrence market, and major success at the Leslieville location, what better place to open a new shop than Roncesvalles. Great stuff! For those unfamiliar, Rowe Farms sells locally grown antibiotic free meats and eggs. Their core beliefs hinge on traditional farming(natural growth, no hormones), animal welfare, sustainable agriculture(fair prices for farmers) and environmental responsibilities. I like it because it’s meat without guilt… well, LESS guilt anyway, and a fantastic way to support local farmers!
