Lovely people and a good vibe night or day. The décor is funky-cool, aside from the weird video display showing retro photos, some of which are downright bizarre. I’d give this five stars if they could make a good drink. I don’t expect much from cocktails in the east end(meaning, nothing) and they deliver.

Nice selection of Ontario craft beers, with a quartet rotating to break up the redundancy. Friendly staff and always open till closing time.

Had a great time at Sauce — relaxed atmosphere and one of the few bars where the music wasn’t set to ear bleeding level. Love the décor and will definitely be back to check out their patio and eats.

The beer selection is good, but you’re close enough to go to The Only where it’s 10 times better and cheaper to boot. The service is so awful though, that I’d never go back.

One of my favourite spots in the hood. Sauce has a wonderful vibe to it. The atmosphere is fantastic, the bartenders are wonderful and accommodating and the patrons are always friendly. Its very cozy and a great spot to just chill. I think it’s Tuesdays that have the guy playing the piano and singing — it’s just wonderful. DEFINITELY recommending this place.

Love having this spot in the neighbourhood. Only downside is the size — sometimes it’s too busy and crowded. A good problem. And the re opening of the back patio oasis will help alleviate. Excellent rum selection.

Very interesting bar. Our bartender, Danielle, was the right mix of quirky and helpful. She served us water for us red faced drinkers without asking us. Such a sweetheart. This was one of our stops on the Craft Beer Passport. Décor is full of character; reminds me of someone’s old living room from the 1930’s. Will return for a random drink again.

I finally had the opportunity to give this place another shot after my first visit nearly two years ago and I’m glad I did. All the issues I had initially had been resolved. Not only do they now have a cocktail menu, they also have an extensive food/snack menu and an array of premium spirits. I was particularly impressed with the bourbon and tequila offerings — each had a full page in the menu. Also a really fantastic beer selection. The cocktail menu features most of the classics(old-fashioned, Manhattan, French 75, Dark & Stormy, Negroni, etc.) and a few originals. The two drinks I tried — the French 75(which could be made with your choice of gin, vodka or brandy) and the Old-Fashioned — were both stiff and generous pours and well-crafted. Prices as noted in my previous review were good. Service was friendly and attentive. Glassware was awesome. Noted an extensive collection of bitters at the bar. Crowd that particular night(a Saturday) tended to be slightly on the older side and the vibe wasn’t 100% my scene, but I’d definitely go back whenever I’m looking for a good drink in the ‘hood.

I checked this place out last night on a first time OKC meetup and rather dug it; score one more great drinking hole I can walk to and stumble back home from. The interior is one of darkness and coziness with salvaged furniture and artwork that was thoughtfully put together to not look that way. Your eyes won’t long for something to look at. I can see how this place would get easily rammed during busy hours – you’ve got the long bar and some space in the back. As I’ve written, it is a cozy space. But what of the drinks? I started with a Tom Collins and while I’m no expert on this one, it tasted like what I expected: lemon, simple syrup, gin, soda. If this is your drink, you don’t be disappointed at all. Next up was a Manhattan. This is my favourite drink and I feel that by now I can make a pretty good one. Theirs was a unique take on this classic and one I appreciated as it fell way more toward the dry side of the scale but certainly maintained its«Manhattaness» Finally I had an Old Fashioned. This is the only one that did not work for me. Not to say it was not properly made. Like other classics, everyone has their own spin on the OF and I lean toward the traditional. Here I was given something with soda water added in a glass much bigger than a classic old fashioned glass. Again, this might be what some want. Pro Tip: get here before 6pm and you can get a pint for $ 5 or a cocktail for $ 6. Service was excellent – they know their cocktails here! No comment on the food – didn’t try anything. All together it is a great place and I can see myself popping in from time to time to try their other listed cocktails off the menu. The vibe was pleasant enough for an early Monday evening and I’m sure things get crowded and lively on Friday and Saturday nights. Would I make a special trip out for this one? Probably not. Should it be included on a Danforth pub crawl? Yes! Highly recommended for us locals between Greenwood and Coxwell and a few blocks north or south of Danforth.

This was the second stop on the Toronto Beer Week Pub Crawl. Definitely great atmosphere with cool artwork/photography on the walls. It has an old-fashioned, dark, swanky bar kinda vibe to it. The bar was extremely busy and the space by the bar is difficult to get around so it wasn’t easy to get the bartender’s attention but eventually got a beer ! Awesome drink selection! They had a decent sized front patio but the place was pretty full when we got there so we just stayed around the bar mostly. There is a decent amount of seating in the back of the bar as well. The staff were very friendly and were definitely hopping around that day trying to get to everyone! Would definitely hangout here again :)

Love the 1920’s décor. The beer selection is amazing. The back patio has its own bar and is totally enclosed. Could only stop for a pint but will be back. Theme nights and specials looked tempting.

The good… Nicely decorated. Staff is friendly. Large selection of beer. The not so good… they don’t really sell food, very very limited menu that doesn’t really go with beer. Location is one you would only visit if you lived out that way, seedy part of the Danforth. If blue collar atmosphere and no food is your thing, then this is your place.

I almost decided not to leave a review for this place because I don’t want it to get any more popular. It’s a fantastic cozy neighbourhood watering hole. The atmosphere is really good and the drink selection is excellent. I just wish they had a better billing system as the receipt just has code names. Really hard to split up the bill with friends.

The first ever«Yay!» bar(you have to go in to find out what i mean). A great local. Everyone will chat and there are great craft and local beers. A gem in the mud of this area of the Danforth.

Here’s what I like about this place: — Great atmosphere. Someone got inspired by the cut glass in the storefront window and did a great job of running with that as a theme throughout. Everyone looks great in this lighting and it’s easy on the eye. — Artovision. No television, but a tv that is just displaying interesting old ads and art work. Nice. — Interesting beers. I don’t even know what I had, but it was good. I think they have rotating craft beers on tap. — Nice size for a neighbourhood pub. — Critical mass. On a friday night, the bar was nicely full.

This sexy little bar isn’t to be missed! Warm atmosphere and great people abound here, and if you’re looking want some tasty local beers on tap or fancy import bottles, you’ve come to the right place! The cocktails were nice too… Can’t wait to go back. Thank you Johnny, Michelle and Mel! See you soon :)

Sauce-d. It was an old-fashioned speak easy vibe they were going for an it was an old-fashioned speak easy they achieved. Though I’m not one to really care about decour, I have to admit that it felt pretty cool to be in place decades away. The deep red walls, velvety lamp shades, wooden stools and old-time-y pictures really gave the place some character. The staff were all extremely friendly, happy to serve and worked their asses off during to serve a pretty jammed joint on both our visits last night. Mel, our bartender, didn’t quite squeal when we came back after dinner, but it was pretty close and it was genuine. If I recall correctly(the delicious whiskey sour hangover is blurring things), there were about 10 drafts, none of which included the usual domestic shit(Coors, Canadian, Bud, etc), but did include Flying Monkeys, Welly, Black Oak and King to name a few. The selection of bottles and tins was all over the map including Gleuten-free beer(a first) and what appeared to be a couple types of sake. The music was pretty varied as well, which was great, and played a volume level where you didn’t actually have to shout at each other, yet still maintained the party vibe. I can only hope this place keeps doing what they’re doing as I’ve been without a neighbourhood watering hole for way too long. Will drink again.
