Scarpino had the opportunity to be the friendly locally owned shoe store of olden days. Frankly, that is not the choice they have made. The assistant manager is rude and makes you believe she has better things she could be doing. I recently purchased 2 pair of shoes and realized one was the wrong size. 2 days after my purchase I returned to make an exchange. I had lost the receipt. Both of the store employees remembered me but were unwilling to make the exchange. I will not return.

Excellent selection of flats. I don’t care much for heels(though they had some interesting ones), so it’s nice to come across a store that has so much selection of flats. From ballet style to tall boots and everything in between, check this store out(especially during sales!) if you like flat sole shoes!

Cheap knock offs in designer boxes. I paid more than $ 200 for boots that turned out to be not not made by the designer they claimed to be and available elsewhere for closer to $ 80. Exchange only is their policy. Exchange for what? More over-priced fakes? Never again.

Shoe-o-holic would be an understatement. When you are buying ikea Billy bookcases for your footware, then we can talk!!! :) Scarpino has been around for a long time. I haven’t been in there for a long time. I wandered in with a friend and impulsively bought two pairs of shoes. Their shoes are averaged priced, about the same price as. Aldo. A lot of their shoes are made out of synthetic materials and aren’t very good quality(If you are buying the Scarpino branded shoes). The boxes the shoes come in aren’t Scarpino, they are cheap brands of shoes that you would find in a strip mall or a stripper store on Yonge street. Except, they’ve stuck their own insoles over the existing ones. I’ll still buy a pair or two here because they are cute and I don’t feel so bad wearing them to a bar. But definitely not a place where I get my nicer footware. And no refunds… at all! Cheaply-made overpriced shoes without allowing you time to rethink your purchases. Tsk, tsk.

I love many things. But it’s a rare find to have true passion for something. If it wasn’t evident in my past reviews, I have a passion for good food. My other passion? Mine heart belongs to shoes. Working in the Queen/John area I’ve walked passed Scarpino almost every day and every day for the past 5ish years, I glance or marvel at the window. Or on a slack work day, I may give the small store a quick lap. Why, you may ask? This is how I flirt with shoes. Let me have my fun! Truth be told, I was always reluctant to shop here for fear of pricey shoes and snobby store clerks. Yes, the shoes cost a bit but no more than any other shoe boutique of its kind. I just need to tell myself I do not NEED to buy shoes no matter how much I WANT them. And the staff were so friendly and helpful as I fell in love with a pair of hot pink(among other colours), canvas, open toe, sling back 3-inch heels(brand: Buygo if you’re interested). They’re hotter than that description makes them out to be. Plus, I saw a couple of new pairs of heels recently that were trying to seduce me. I was a little stronger today.
