Came here for a social event that was hosted at the restaurant’s rooftop patio. The venue was quite vast whether its the main lounge downstairs or the patio area upstairs. Although it’s called a patio, it actually has ceiling cover and heating turned on. To be honest, the heat was turned up a little too high. I felt hot as more and more people attended the event. Located on the rooftop was a bar and multiple tables with sofa seats as well as tables with wooden chairs. It was dimly lit and gave off the lounge atmosphere. People just mingled and drank. Everything was pretty chilled. I ordered a glass of Soho with Sprite. Was mixed alright, though there ain’t much alcohol in it. Overall place was not bad. I do believe the downstairs area has more comfortable seating and brighter in general.

This was pretty hyped up. I went there for a work function, but I was disappointed. We booked well in advance, and turned up on time, only to find out that no space was set aside for us. The beer selection was very small(and not great stuff to begin with), and the service was extremely slow. The food itself was great(once it came) but with a group of 12, and a much bigger party being prepped downstairs, we very quickly found out we had eaten them out of fries. Seriously? Who runs out of fries? If I’d been paying, I would have been very upset. Luckily work was paying, but still wouldn’t recommend it.

Came here over the weekend for a his and hers fling before the ring! The place was nice overall. We had made reservations in advance as the size of our group is quite large(~20 something). We also had them create a signature drink for the bride and groom. It was some kind of blue martini. It was super sweet and most of the guys passed on this. The bar service was extremely slow. Only one bartender for a very packed place. The main reason I liked and didn’t like this place is because of the open rooftop. Liked it because it was a nice night and the fresh air is nice in a large crowd. Didn’t like it because it meant there were people smoking. I probably won’t come here again.

Booked a table for a friend’s birthday– dining area empty(made us a little nervous). The server was amazing– she was patient and attentive with our big group. The food — «meh». The menu feels disjointed and portion sizes inconsistent. Prices are reasonable for a downtown resto but quality was not the best. Stand out was the YUCAFRIES. The patio was beautiful! Good mix of crowd– casual, played back and fun. DJ spun a great mix of «classics». Wish the place played the old films on the wall instead of the baseball game. All in all go for the patio– not the dining.

I had the pleasure of organizing a conference after-party on the beautiful rooftop patio at Screen Lounge. The venue itself is superb — sunny, breezy rooftop patio, comfortable seating and classy vibe all around. Management was spectacular in accommodating all of our requests(and super patient with all of our last-minute changes!) Staff were very helpful and eager to ensure everything was to our liking. We heard many positive comments from the delegates — everyone really enjoyed themselves! We ordered hors d’oeuvres(pan-fried citrus polenta with green apple and almond garnish, beef tartar on sourdough toast, avocado cucumber summer rolls.!) and the bartender made a beautiful berry sangria to round out the good selection of beer, wine and other drinks. Needless to say, the night was a hit with the crowds. Thank you for the awesome evening!

This is blunt true and honest review. It’s the RUDEST place i have EVER been to. Everyone from the manager to the security is DELUDED into thinking they have the hottest lounge in town… -.- They kept pushing us to eat/drink and buy buy buy! because they were expecting a HUGEEE group to come it… but the place was empty(second floor– dining area) throughout the entire night. I don’t know what’s wrong with everyone there, complete utter shit food, shit drinks, shit service. AVOID! They don’t know how to treat customers right, and it’s sad because they have such a beautiful patio up top. Maybe a revamp of management is necessary. and DJ was horrible too. 4THUMBSDOWN! never again! :S

I checked in and started with my review not realizing I was doing it wrong. The place seemed nice to me. Came with a group of 10 – 15 people(over the evening). The top floor patio was nice and large enough to fit us. It might have been just our group and a few other people. Big screen to watch the Raptors game. My bf and I ordered the beef burger with yuca fries($ 13). The patty was cooked perfectly(medium) but it had blue cheese in it, which the menu did not state. Had I known I would have ordered something else or asked for no blue cheese. I hate blue cheese. Only saving grace was there wasn’t a lot of it but I could still taste it. Otherwise I was pleased with it. We asked for it to be cut in half and the waiter said he would bring an extra plate… They ended up cutting the burger in half AND they split the whole meal on two plates for us. I thought that was nice and more restaurants should do that. The drink menu was okay but instead of just saying the drink had vodka, it would be nice if they listed the brand. I only cared to try one of the drinks on the menu which did taste good but I ended up ordering a chocolate martini which wasn’t on the menu and there was no problem in them mixing one. Apparently they had a new chef. This was my first time there so I don’t know the difference between the old chef and the new chef. I do know that I wasn’t all that interested in most of the items on the menu, but it could just be me; I’m only one person. A friend ordered pulled pork dumplings($ 7) but it’s not your standard(Asian) dumplings so if you’re expecting those kind of dumplings you may be disappointed. He was disappointed and ended up returning them. Worth trying though. He’s just pickier. Overall I would go for drinks and atmosphere but not sure about their menu. Maybe they are just trying some stuff out. I would go again as I like places that are not overcrowded.

Such fall from what used to be a great place… Came back to Screen Lounge after a number of months away. What a change from the last time I was here, the place was absolutely barren. There was absolutely no one on the main floor and the upstairs patio was very populated. We had previously called to inquire about getting reservations, no returned phone calls, though I suppose not necessary when you see the place. Was here with a party of 8 people, we ordered a drinks, appetizers, and a main course, service was abysmally slow and we flag down our server on numerous occasions to get anything done. Drinks were average, a bit pricey, but no major complaints. The actual food was an entirely different matter, the cook omitted a number of items from the orders despite being explicitly listed on the menu, salmon preheated and tough, the salad was missing berries, the seafood linguini was missing the calamari. Food overall was below average, especially given the price. We flagged these issues to our server, who, to be fair did work to correct them, however, the experience overall left a very bad taste in our mouth. It’s very disappointing to see this place in this state, I recall times past where I would have compared this place to something like Joey Eaton Centre, now it’s just a shadow of its former self. Overall, this will be the last time that I ever go to Screen Lounge and will be vocally telling my friends to avoid this place.

Came here on a Thursday night and this place was a ghost town — completely empty. We had a pretty large group, so it was fine by us. This place seems pretty tiny, since from the street it’s literally just a door, so it’s surprising when you walk in. The bar downstairs is very well decorated and well lit. Highlight of the lounge is definitely the rooftop patio — expansive, large, with very nice red couches and lots of tropical plants. There isn’t much of a view — it’s blocked by the office building directly across from it, and there’s not much to see on College Street to begin with. The atmosphere is very nice though, and if the weather is good then it’s a great place to relax with some drinks.

Went for winterlicious — the place was EMPTY. The food was yummy, but the portions were small, especially for winterlicious. I’m not going to lie, the hike up those stairs is deadly, especially in the winter when it’s wet. There is no elevator that I know of, and if you slip going up — you’re done. The staff was very friendly and funny — so they made up feel attended to — but then again — there were only 3 tables seated. I didn’t venture up to the 2nd level, but I would assume it’s a good place to start your night before heading to some clubs or better bars.

Came here with a group of 6 – 8 people and ordered the most expensive dishes on the menu … sashimi, sushi, pasta, etc The sashimi platter was about 50 $ and had very little fish. Each raw fish was placed on a cucumber and some of the cucumbers had PLASTIC wrapped around them This means they don’t wash the garments they use for the raw fish. Totally unhealthy and gross… Pretentious and overpriced. They even wanted to charge us for entering the rooftop patio after spending 200 $+ on the bill. Save your money and go for real sushi restaurant and your local bar.

Screen Lounge is a bit tacky. It turns into a club after 11 with palm trees(in the wintertime) and blue lights on the dance floor. Not for me. The crowd is on the younger side(earlier 20s) and the music is too loud for any type of conversation. I can’t comment on the food because I didn’t eat it but I imagine that it matches the ambiance of the place — the Screen Lounge logo says it all! 2 stars because they have a rooftop patio and are one of the only establishments in this part of town. That said, who knew that places like this still existed!

The only reason to come to Screen Lounge would be their rooftop patio. Unfortunately, I came in here for dinner as well. A quick summary would be: Pricey drinks, overpriced and almost bland food makes me feel like the screen lounge is ironically like the«original screen lounge»(aka a movie theatre) where it’s nice to go and sit around but the food and drinks are definitely not going to leave you feeling like you won yourself an Oscar. The dining experience was definitely 1 star and do not recommend it to anyone. I’m now not surprised that we were the only people dining there. The rooftop lounge is well located, not too many lounges in the immediate area. It’s well furnished by «lounge-y» seating, has a fancy retractable roof and a pretty good vibe. It is a little bummer that service is not great up in the lounge and we had to cross the entire lounge to get our drinks. But the rooftop experience was marred for me by their restaurant downstairs. Service was not bad our server was definitely very friendly but should have been speedier and she was not very familiar with the menu and they had«run out» of certain items like the daily soup… how does one run out of the daily soup if we got there at a reasonable dining hour and were the only ones present? The menu does not lack options, but they try way too hard to sound like the meal you’re ordering is going to be on a high level. I ordered the«frito shrimp» or as any other restaurant would call it; «shrimp tempura». And for my main I got their seafood pasta, neither dish was horrible but definitely overpriced for their level of mediocrity and I would have to say portion sizes were a little bit too much(but depending on who you talk to, that’s not a bad thing). So sure, visit Screen Lounge I say visit once with mediocre expectations.

You ever seen 40 plus people leave a place at one time? I have never been here during their restaurant hours, so I can’t say anything about the food, however the night scene was very good until a bouncer went on a huge power trip! The interior of the place is very classy the main floor is your classic restaurant/bar area with booths and bar stools. If you head upstairs there is a beautiful patio area, with couches, tables, bar, all surrounded by what looks to be a glass roof. Definitely a great spot during the winter with the closed roof top and I’m sure the summer is just amazing. This place was a nice place to relax during the night and have fun, but I hate it when a bouncer goes on a huge power trip and starts to assume things that was never done by someone. First of all my family and friends are not young college kids, we all have professional jobs, and we all know our limits. Yes, we like to have a lot of fun but we never go overboard. This is the first time we have ever been kicked out of a place all b/c the bouncer heard someone banging on the glass by the dance floor. Of course the only ones on the dance floor were me, my family, friends, and the club photographer. I mention the club photographer b/c he admitted to the bouncer that it was him that was banging on the glass, but to no luck the bouncer was on a power trip and didn’t want to admit he was wrong, so he threw us all out. He even followed us out to the street and told us to stay off the property, even though we were already on the sidewalk not even close to the building. Have you ever seen a dance floor empty so quickly? If you were there that night than you know what I mean. I felt bad for our DJ friends b/c they had to finish the gig, but luckily it will be the last time that they are spinning there. I’ll let you know where the new venue is at. Will I return? During the night hell f***ing no! During the day maybe, just b/c I’m a foodie and interested in trying their food, and not to mention that their patio during the summer would be amazing. Items to definitely get — to be continued

I went to screen lounge for a work event. We had an entire area booked after work, and overall, i was impressed. First off, didn’t expect the place for the area so that was a plus. Service was good, drinks were drinks, and the food wasn’t amazing, but wasn’t bad either. All in all, the draw is definately the patio that would be amazing in the summers. The whole place definately has a loungey feel to it, which is nice because the area doesn’t have any other place like it.

Showed up for after work drinks on a Friday night, and this place was dead. The lounge area was nice, and good for getting a bit more intimate than normal tables would allow. Apparently it fills up later on in the evening, but we were worried about their lack of business at dinner time. Service was phenomenal, but the beer is really overpriced. We shared the yam frites; the portion was generous, and the two dips provided were tasty. Apparently they’re building a roof to capitalize on their patio during the winter. Will be interesting to see how that goes.

As other reviewers have mentioned, Screen Lounge feels a lot more like King West than College/Yonge… so the experience is a bit odd. The heated rooftop patio is pretty sweet, although not the most scenic(overlooking Winners!). Came on a Saturday night and the crowd was very Jersey Shore and the DJ was playing dance mixes of Top 40 songs — think Katy Perry, Pitbull, etc. So it feels like a club, although there’s no dance floor or anything. It definitely seems like a place where people come in big groups, as there are lots of long couches. The projected movies are cool. They were showing some Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers flick, and then later a black and white animated movie. It reminded me of Foreign Cinema in SF. The cocktail list has lots of yummy sounding choices, including a bunch of sake and soju cocktails. I went with the caramel apple martini, as per the waitress’ recommendation, and it was delicious:) They bring you complimentary popcorn to snack on with your drinks, which is nice. The indoor area looks fancy, although maybe trying a bit too hard… It’s an odd combination with greasy diner Fran’s just below. Overall, it’s a decent option in the area if you want to chill and grab a drink but don’t feel like going to a pub/sports bar, and the patio is nice!

I went to Screen Lounge for a friends birthday on a Saturday night, for drinks only(didn’t experience the menu). The service at Screen is amazing, but I’m almost positive it won’t last once they’ve been around for awhile(if they make it?) the doorman was super friendly and our waitress was attentive without being overbearing. Drinks are kinda pricey(especially for the area) with mixed drinks running around $ 7 and a martini at $ 16. They also have sangria on the menu, but I definitely do not recommend it — it is too sweet and tasted a lot more like watered-down Tim Horton’s peach juice than anything else. Another thing to note is that they play old black and white films on some of the walls, and I’ve heard on the patio as well(it was raining when I went!) which, some people thought was really cool, but others(like me) found it super distracting! I can’t hold a conversation with a movie(even without sound) on in the background. Another downside is that it is still pretty empty — I thought word would have caught on by now. At 11pm we were the only group there, and by 12:30 there still weren’t many people around. The biggest positive in my mind is that the DJ was REALLY good! I hope he’s the regular DJ because with him, this place might last. Over all, Screen is a place with potential.

Interesting. It’s King West meets Fran’s. The main level is modern, angular, and black/white. There’s a few TVs playing old movies which is a little tacky. The next level has an old fashioned popcorn cart which they drop off at the tables– I liked that part. The roof-top patio is huge — many U shaped couches for lounging and about two dozen tables for dining. There are movies being projected on to the brick walls of the buildings surrounding the patio and blue light projected down onto patrons. FYI: People don’t look great in blue light. They asked me to take my hat off when I walked into the place which I found more funny than anything else(I wonder if fashion hat fedoras are ok?). They offer shisha for 35 $ or 50 $, beers for about 7 $ and a cocktail of the day that ends at 7pm(odd). This would be a great spot for a private party — but my guess would be quite pricey. It was interesting– but I doubt I’ll be back.

The neighbourhood needed a place like this! It’s a little piece of King West transplanted at College and Yonge. Above Toronto’s landmark breakfast place Fran’s, Screen Lounge is a 2-level resto-lounge — I can see hanging out in the sleek indoor bar area this winter, but during this extremely hot summer, it’s the roof-top patio all the way. It’s got a huge outdoor seating area, comfortable and modern red-and-black-cushioned patio furniture and back-lit bar that looks very Miami as the sun goes down. The chill-out music sounding from the speakers adds to that ‘sit-here-and-chillax-for-as-long-as-you-want’ vibe. Prices are a bit steep for this area(like I said, think King West!) but the staff is super-attentive and the food portions are a good size. They’ve got some creative sushi rolls(try the Canadian, wrapped in bacon) and tasty tempura appetizers. It would be great if you could order Fran’s brunch on the rooftop patio on a Saturday or Sunday morning… I hope that is in the works! The lounge is pretty new, so it was quiet, but I can see it picking up once word gets around. The place is called Screen Lounge because at dusk, they screen old black and white movies on the patio — complete with old fashioned popcorn machine, should you get a craving.
