There is a $ 10 cover charge(everyone pays it) There are no vip lines and everyone is treated equally here(I also heard a rumour that even the owners friends still have to pay a cover charge and wait in line). It’s an older neighborhood bordering on seedy, and the building itself reminds me of going to someone’s basement in the suburbs during the 80’s. Why 4 stars? The drinks are reasonably priced here, the bar staff is very fast efficient and attentive, and the music here is pure rock all night, and this is a great place to wear your jeans and a leather jacket. Casual dress definitely lives here. If you had a long week and want to get out, have some drinks and dance(even you can’t dance, or do the ‘2 step’, you will be accepted here). It’s a mixed crowd varying in age from early 20s to 50s. If you are looking cougars or girls that rock it out, there is a good chance you will find them here. If you are a regular on the club scene downtown and want to experience something different and fun you will also find that here as well. This place is definitely worth the $ 10 cover charge.

I’m torn about Stones Place. It has some great qualities but also a hint of doucheyness. Let me explain: This is a borderline dive bar with a dance floor — that doesn’t warrant a $ 10 cover and 3 door bouncers on a power trip. We were 4 ppl there for a birthday party. To keep your reservations you needed to arrive by 10:30. We literally got there at 10:32 and got into the guest list line. Bouncer says«sorry, guest list closed» and when I told him we missed it by 2 minutes and showed him the phone, he replied with«good for you, you can tell time!» Ok, I don’t deserve special treatment so we got in line, for a while. When we finally got in, the place was empty! Then I had to deal with another rude bouncer who grabbed me by my arm as I was trying to get to the ATM. Considering I was the DD(and sober) and the coat check lady to me to go get cash, his physical forcefulness was completely unnecessary. The rest of the night went well, the music saves this place for sure. It feels like you’re at your best friend’s wedding, listening to all your favourite oldies. Drinks are cheap-ish and the crowd is fun. If it wasn’t for the first impression being bad, I’d probably give it a 4⁄5.

That place was rocking tonight. So many girls having such a good time = so many guys having such a good time. I would definitely come back!

Went there during the summer but in short, it was awful. Just. Awful. The vibe is cool, the music not too bad. Drinks were decently priced albeit a bit limited in selection(no Jäger??) The security staff, however, were rude. I get it, you have to act hard and go all ‘blue-steel’ to show that you mean business. But shoving a homeless person onto the sidewalk when he was just asking for some spare change and then leaving him lying there bleeding while telling people that he probably has herpes and syphilis is a bit much. Nevermind the fact that they kicked me out for helping him up and throwing out the bags of empty bottles that broke when he got shoved to the concrete.

Ahhh Stones Place… my new favorite place to be. Despite the $ 10 cover and almost 45-minute wait to get in, it was totally worth it. I went here on Saturday with a bunch of my teammates(about 20 people) and it was just a great time. We were forewarned about the wait time to get in and the cover, but once we were in, we totally made it worth it. Nothing beats a night where you’re belting out Guns N’ Roses and Journey songs. The crowd here is great. Everyone is just looking to have a great time and dance around. There’s tons of seating areas spread out all across the place… and they’re comfortable couches! There are two different bars as well as a place where you can just pick up beers, so no matter how packed the bar might look at the front, you can always walk to the back and grab a drink there. The bartenders are great– super attentive and super quick. It’s $ 6 for mixed drinks and I think about the same amount for tequila shots. All in all, my time at Stones was great and I’m definitely going to be back.

I threw a bachelorette party on the weekend and it was great! I was able to reserve an area of couches for $ 50 which got us line bypass. The staff was great to the bride to be, and gave her a funny gift. The dance floor was a good size and the music was so fun! It was nice to dance to music that had words, and songs that I knew. Unlike other bars which charge a crazy cover or require bottle service, this place was affordable, and very fun! I would HIGHLY recommend it for a group night out…

Loved my time at Stones Place! I was there for St. Patrick’s Day. The place was rammed with happy people who were there to dance and be merry! The bartender and waitresses were really friendly, even though they were slammed and the music was terrific. 70s, 60s and 50s tunes to shake our rumps too! I didn’t know what to expect from this Queen St. gem, but not an enormous hall that had stations for quick bottles and two long bars to score drinks at. And then there was sitting room! I can’t remember the last time I went somewhere to dance and scored a seat, but this place was in fine form with stools at tall tables and a whole lot of couches and nooks to relax in. I had a great experience dancing the night away at this bar and hope to go back with more friends soon!

Went here for New Year’s and had a total blast! I had heard about Stones Place from quite a few people, but was always a bit hesitant because even though I love oldies, I wasn’t sure it would be fun to dance to. Boy, was I wrong! The music was amazing, and just so much fun! It was like being at a cool wedding… which, may sound lame, but I loved. The bouncer was a bit scary, but it was NYE, and it was clear he was trying to stop all the annoying line-cutters, which I appreciated. Just a good time with friends. The crowd was a bit weird– lots of «clubby» girls and suburban suits– but people weren’t obnoxious or rude or anything. Drinks weren’t too expensive, the dance floor wasn’t too small, and best of all, no one was creeping. Definitely give it a shot if you prefer dancing to older music, like ABBA, Boney M, Springsteen, and other 80s stuff. Definitely a theme place, but super fun energy.

This was our choice bar over the past few years of living in Roncesvalles/Parkdale neighborhood, whenever we felt like a night of drinking and moving & grooving on the dance floor. There is usually a cover of $ 10 but coat check is included and drinks are not overpriced. Music was a combination of classic rock and dance, typical of what you might expect to hear at a wedding. The décor is really cool as it has Rolling Stones memorabilia combined with red velvet couches and curtains; though, I’m pretty sure all of the lounging areas are reserved seating. So, call ahead if you want a place to sit down… we’ve never bothered though, we just stand… and dance. The secret formula: More beer = more dancing.

I really am unsure whether this place deserves a 2 or a 3 star, I really should not write reviews for places whereby I was rather intoxicated and they played some 80’s music as I instantly become biased and proclaim(sometimes undeserved) love for the place. I fear that this might be one of those occasions. Ok so honestly $ 10 cover… really?! However that said I do recall $ 5 bottles, that made me happy and they did have a conveniently place bottle bar for those that could not be bothered waiting at the main bar/too lazy to walk the whole 20 paces to the main bar/on the way back from the washrooms realizing they have lost your drink. The crowd was pretty young, the atmosphere fine but on reflection I did feel like I was in some function suite back in Scotland or dancing in the«Cheers» bar. The music, I had all the love for the DJ. One of my friends said they felt as though they were at a wedding and yes maybe the music was a bit wedding DJ-ish but it was exactly what I needed and what should be playing in this bar. The dance floor is not huge but spacious enough. There is also a rather epic corner fan which, only when drunk, makes you stand in the draft posing as if you are participating in some dodgy 80’s photo shoot… wind swept hair seems full of win at the time! Would I go back again? Most definitely! I think I have answered my original struggle…3 stars it is!

I used to be a far-too-frequent visitor of this place about 5 or 6 years back, when Shake-a-Tail still existed there on Saturdays . I find it too full of regular club kids now, plus the cover went from $ 5 to $ 10(no bar in downtown Toronto with holes in their couches needs to be charging a cover that high, and pretending they are a club) … the drinks are also rather expensive for a hangout of that cailbre, I don’t care if you’re on Queen West. If you’re trashed already and looking to get silly to some oldies and drop your beer on someone’s feet, it’s a good place — the crowd has just changed to be slightly more pretentious these days.

Ever have one of those nights where you feel like going out but can’t think of a destination? All you really want to do is find your couch and your friends and your music, just in a different part of the city. At Stones Place on a Saturday night, you and your homies can relax and bust a lung while yelling at each other over old school rock and roll; indulging in a Jack and Coke or two, to boot. Stones place is just about the least club-like club I’ve ever been to, which suits me just fine. The vibe is decidedly casual, and the crowd markedly less self-consciously hip than the denizens of the nearby Drake hotel. Decorated like a grungier version of your basement, with more expensive drinks, an actual(largely ignored) dance floor, and a live DJ controlling your ipod(assuming your ipod is programmed like mine, with enough early 90s rock to render 102.1 the EDGE redundant). If I were truly trendy, I might call it a lounge. Then again, if I were truly trendy I’d be somewhere on Ossington drinking something infused and sans-vodka while nuzzling my hipster beard against my buffalo-check shirt. Then I’d go for meatballs. Or roast pork. Or gourmet hamburgers. Or whatever springs up on my Unilocal feed in this part of town. Instead, bedecked in argyle sweater-vest and three-day stubble, I collapse againt a chintz sofa and rock out to AC/DC, GnR and Metallica. Who cares about dancing with glow-sticks and rapper-endorsed sparkling wine when I can actually sing along to the music that they play, and feel grateful that I’m not yet 38 years old, and I’ve kissed a girl(or two).

Three stars or «A-OK» is definitely how I would describe this place. I went for a friends birthday party, and we reserved a seating area(a series of couches) for free, which was really great(still have to pay $ 10 cover though!). We definitely had a good time, but I have a feeling Stones Place is a «do once» kind of thing. While the drinks were reasonably priced(the Maritimer in me cringes that I now think $ 6 – 7 beers are reasonable), the music was good, there was a solid dance floor and it was crowded but not crazy, I can’t really imagine making my way out to Parkdale again for the same«theme» night. So, definitely worth checking out once, and if you do, make sure you go early because there was an insane line by 12, and even still when we left at quarter after one!

Rolling Stones themed décor made it look very unusual. I actually liked this place, it looked like a basement with a bar. The music is very different from any other bars you would go to but funky enough to get a groove on. Clientele appears fairly cliquey but not a lot of meatheads with attitude. Service can be a bit slow if the bar is full but they make a decent rye and coke. $ 10 cover mandatory and includes coat check.

This was definitely a hot spot back when Parkdale was really starting to blow up… Before places like Wrongbar and Parkdale Drink this was the place to go see local DJs and up-and-coming monthly parties like Never Forgive Action, Big Primpin’ and Santa Cruz. But they all left for good reason… The bar itself? It was pretty large with a nice back area full of couches and tables to relax around if you weren’t feeling the crowded mess up front where the DJs used to play. I remember the bartenders who used to work here five years ago were all super nice and lovely, but I am sure they are long gone as well. Admittedly I have not been to Stones Place in about four years and didn’t really care for it much back then. I definitely had some good times but once other options in the area started opening up and all the good parties exited, so did I. And to be honest, I don’t even really care for the Rollings Stones enough to be into the shrine this place has adopted. And from the sounds of the ridiculous cover charge and mandatory coat check, I don’t reckon I will ever go back.

Went to this bar/lounge to catch up with some old friends. Over $ 200 later, we were having a grand old time and found ourselves on the dance floor. The place itself had a lot of seating, that could be reserved, however, didn’t look like a lot of enforcement was going on. Also, the place had a lot of drapes and attempted to have some kind of unique décor. There were a lot of bachelorette parties going on as well as birthdays. There are 2 bars, go to the one at the back, way less crowded. They take credit card, but there is a $ 50 minimum. To get an idea of the pricing, a vodka cranberry, whiskey and coke, coors light, and molson stock ale cost $ 22CDN. The music is by DJ. The big downside was the $ 10 cover. Necessary? I didn’t think so, especially with other bars right next door.

Direct competish with Cadillac Lounge across the street. Another great Parkdale Haunt, with cheap drinks to boot. I like the multiple areas to sit and relax and the music overhead. They have a decent patio too! Try this place as an alternative to Gladstone or Drake on a Saturday night. the clientele are friendly and like I said, cheap drinks!

This place reminds me of my grandparents’ basement. With a coat check. I’m so back and forth about Stone’s Place. The carpets and pool tables are kitschy, the stage is decent for dancing, the Rolling Stones décor is kind of fun. But for some reason the place has become HUGGGE lately. Lineup & coat check huge. Not fun, in my books. They usually have decent nights with good music but I guess you have to get there around 10:30 to avoid the lines. I also remember one night when I was forced to check my coat, even though I wanted to carry it, and one of the bouncers gave me change to make the $ 2, since I literally had no cash on me. That was nice of him. Anyway, this place depends on the night, and the crowd. Can be hit-or-miss, but sometimes worth the gamble.

Basically it’s a pool hall with a stage. The theme is «Rolling Stones» and there are hundreds of the old rockers and the owner all over the walls of the joint. For the most part, it’s an unremarkable local Parkdale joint, except for monthly queer-rap party, Big Primpin’, which goes OFF! It’s the mot fun you can have with your clothes on for sure. This event has been going on at Stones Place for years and attracts a healthy mix of queer, art and scene kids. If you’re a girl, you know how suck it is to go to a hip hop club and get fondled or bothered all night. At Big Primpin’ you can totally get down on the dancefloor without all the bull of a hip hop club. Now THAT is something worth traveling to Parkdale for!
