Just tried this company’s delivery service. The service is quite poor. The guy on the phone talks a lot, cuts you off and really accomplishes nothing but waste your time and talk in circles. My issue this time was that they over promised and under delivered and tried to up sell me on specialty items. My items were delivered late and as a result I could not take them home for Christmas which was my only request. Burned for the second time. Avoid this place and go anywhere else.

I used Sun King exclusively for a couple years and considered myself a loyal customer. Then I dropped off a bag that included a brand new designer zip up sweater that I loved. What was returned to me was a very old, cheap sweater several sizes larger than me with buttons. I brought the sweater back when I discovered it and was told that they had made no mistake, that was the sweater I had dropped off. It most certainly was not! They intimated that I was trying to put one over on them. I am a high earning successful professional and their response was a little shocking. I never went back.

This place sucks, big time. I have given them numerous chances now. First off, they charge an arm and a leg for dry cleaning. I paid neraly $ 10 per shirt on my last visit. Really?! Are youy f&^%ing kidding me?! Second, they didn’t even have my clothes ready on time. Nor were they there the day after they were supposed to be ready. Garbage service. Third, they just stink at alterations. Got a pair of pants hemmed there those pants are now suitable for a dwarf. That’s three strikes Sun King — see ya never!

Yes, it is suuuuper expensive. My old cleaner a block away was about $ 2.25 a dress shirt, and these guys charge over $ 5. They do do a very nice job, with collar spaces and clips of a dry cleaning nature. Apparently they do offer free pick up and delivery, but I’m too afraid to try it, lest there be even more surcharges. The décor is nice, they are efficient, and they have free candies, so that ought to count for something?!

This place is really expensive and they close a bit too early, but they are right around the corner from me and the service is always fast and friendly. If there were another dry cleaner around the corner that was $ 2 cheaper per item(which is what I was paying in the Financial District) then, speed and friendliness aside, I would switch. But there isn’t. It’s good enough for dry cleaning. …but then I tried to drop off some clothes on Tuesday, Dec 28. Because people around here are keeping weird hours these days I decided to call to check if they were open. No answer, but the answering machine just stated the usual hours. So I checked their website, no information to the contrary there either. I called again, no answer again. So I grabbed my bag of clothes and headed off under the assumption that the hours were normal and they were busy with customers. And then I arrived to find that they were closed all day. Look people, you can’t just decide to be closed and not inform your customers and expect to keep them your customers. I took my clothes up Bathurst to another cleaner that was open(and cheaper), and I’ll be doing that from now on.

Long story short. About $ 8 to clean and press a BRANDNEW dress shirt. No stains, not repairs. This should be about the cheapest service a dry cleaners could offer. At $ 8/shirt I’d be afraid to take anything else to these guys. Way too expensive in my opinion. r
