Don’t go to this place! As others have said, this place is unbelievably overpriced, at least 2 and even 3 times the price charged by other places(that are not even discount places!). You can easily find out about this if you Google the exact brands and models of various tools/supplies they sell(of course, you’ll have to go into the store, as they don’t list their prices on their website — don’t bother going in.).

I recently started making malas and have been in search of wood beads. The Beadery has a selection of natural wood beads which is not readily available at other beading supplies shops. The shop is run by one person, the owner presumably, who was friendly enough but was obviously short staffed. I had bought wooden beads online before and the prices at this shop are about 3 times higher. The owner could see my hesitation with the purchase and gave me a break on the price with the condition that I review his shop online. All in all, I got what I needed and if you are looking for more niche beads, this shop may just have what you need.

I want to love this place… But unfortunately the terrrrrrible(really, really bad) customer service means I never want to go in here. Ever. Stop treating your customers like crap– we come to buy and walk away empty handed because giving money to an establishment that is so careless about human decency just encourages the awful service.

I’m a student goldsmith and was treated like SCUM when i went here. I was there with a purpose, to BUY. I asked them to lift one box of stones so I could see the box that was hidden under it and the owners response was simply«it’s opal». Great, thats my favourite stone! But when i asked if he would move the box on top just so i could see the opals underneath, he rolled his eyes and walked away. It’s not even like i asked to touch or take them out of the case. I just wanted to look! Ive been to the Beadery a 5 – 6 times and have had only one good experience. One of Claude’s female employees was very abrupt with me. I came in with two stones I needed to leave with for a project, and also to look for cabochons for setting. The salesperson simply said«that’s $ 80/stone» and walked away. Hilariously enough — I would have purchased that stone if she weren’t so horrible and brash. Really nice stuff here, but pretty overpriced(I guess what can you expect on Queen street) and the staff are ABSOLUTELYHORRIBLE!!! I will never go back.

The Beadery is a really great craft shop with many beautiful beads and all of the equipment you need to make beautiful, fashionable stuff! Claude is absolutely inspiring and passionate about bead work and the art of creating timeless fashions! Claude showed my mother-in-law and I many tricks and gave us tips… He also offers all great deals on the tool you need, anvil’s, hammers, pliers, bending tools of of course wire and beads. Claude also does not rush you when you visit and he will help out and offer on-going support and tips! HINT: he has actual counted silver and gold wire… as well as regular wires. The Beadery has excellent customer service & a fun unique approach to creating. I highly recommend Claude if you are looking for a professional expert in the business… One thing, it is really quiet in there, some music would have set the mood better. But I still really enjoyed shopping there.

I didn’t need much, just a clasp and some string to redo a necklace I made using a magnetic clasp because the recipient was worried it would fall off. Okay. It took a long time to get the clasp because I couldn’t find them(the store isn’t very organized) and I had to wait for the single shop worker and there were a couple people ahead of me. It took a while and all the while I was looking and then she showed me the little nook where half of the clasps were kept(the ring half is apparently hidden in an employee-only area). She recommended the silk cord for my application. I’m not much into this particular craft so I don’t know if that’s good, but I explained what I was doing and she recommended it so okay. I went home and did the switchover. Gave the necklace later that day, and by nightfall the cord had died and the beads lost all over the sidewalk. Perhaps I did something wrong… but I’ve tied lots of threads and ropes onto lots of things(including a few other bracelets and necklaces) and never had them just give out like that. Since she knew I was a novice, if there was some special procedure required for this thread then she should have said it or it should have been on the package. Neither was the case. So maybe the product itself was either bad or the wrong one for my application. In summary, I won’t be going back here for my next bead experiment.

For all craft lovers and jewellery worshippers, The Beadery is the place to be! As an artsy person who is always looking for new hobbies, I thought I would recommend this cute bead store on Queen Street for a few reasons. It carries an extensive stock of different beads, gems and jewels to create your own original trinkets and accessories to wear. As well, if you are looking for an activity to destress and do something creative, The Beadery offers classes! For 5 classes which run for a full three hours, it costs just over $ 200 and that includes both the instruction and all of the funky supplies to produce at least five to six projects. From basic beading to wire linking to design, The Beadery is an outlet for anyone who wants to put their creativity to the test.
