The Loft Toronto

Finally a spot whose team knows how to cut men’s hair in Toronto, they use real scissors and not a f… hair clipper!

I got a pretty bad haircut and was waiting for it to grow out, but was recommended by a friend to go see Makenna at the Loft. It was great. She knew exactly what to do to fix it. It’s taken me a while to find a regular place to get my haircut and I’m really glad I found Makenna. She gave me a really solid fade and a sharp part. Can’t recommend this place enough.

I got a really great cut here, and my all-​over colour (pink) turned out really well. That being said, shortly after having my hair done, my hair started to feel gummy. It looked greasy all the time, even when I washed it. A little research and consultation with other hair stylists led me to believe that my hair had been over-​processed during bleaching. I tried using hair masks and everything, but nothing really worked. Needless to say, while I was originally impressed, I will not be dropping the 200+ dollars again for a cut and colour that pretty well destroyed my hair.

Finally i can say i found a good hair salon in toronto! I really liked that place, i love the vibe. I went for colour n hair trim, the artist listened to what i want, discussed a plan n we agreed. Prices are reasonable. I can feel they like where they work. I highly recommend it!

Finding a great hair salon and amazing stylist can be daunting when living in Toronto! I am pleased to say that even though I plan to move out of the city that I have found the one place that I absolutely LOVE! This place will have me making the commute back downtown every few weeks. Everything about The Loft is unreal… the ambiance, all of the staff and quality of services in general are all fantastic. I had my hair cut and coloured with Sheena today and it was a great experience. She really takes the time to listen to what look you are going for and is always sure to go over the process with you. You can tell she is so passionate about her job and she is so friendly and down to earth too! I highly recommend this salon! :)

Just had my hair cut by Angela for the first time. She was great — she listened to what I wanted but also offered ideas and then made it happen. She has skills, takes pride in her work and is easy to talk to. Will definitely be going back.

What a cute little salon with great stylists and service. And let’s be honest the most important thing about a salon visit is probably the stylist. Sylvie has been cutting my hair for years and she’s amazing. She manages to find that perfect balance of something new and fun but not totally out of my comfort zone.
The Loft just opened and I went in just for a bang trim and blow dry, so I’ll probably write another review once I go for a cut and dye. Even though I was just coming in for fairly minor services, I was offered wine, coffee, etc and all the staff were friendly. The best part was probably this steam pod thing they did on my hair — it made it look extra smooth and healthy like I just had it cut, even though I didn’t. At least 4 or 5 people have asked me in the past week if I got my hair cut. They told me it lasts for up to 5 shampoos — I’m only 2 in, but it still looks good.
I’m sad I’m not a student anymore, because I saw The Loft offers a student discount certain days which is rad. The prices aren’t bad though I think it’s around $ 80 for a cut, which is standard for a good cut in Toronto. Though don’t quote me on that price…
Also, not really relevant to the service or the hair cutting but I like the vintage décor like the vintage plate wall and the whole place has a cute laid back vibe.
I’m giving the loft a 5 star review mainly because the staff and service were pretty awesome, plus the steam pod was amazing and prices were decent. Also, Sylvie gave me some great ideas for when I do go in for a new cut or decide to dye my hair — it’s great to get a consult even when you’re not in for that particular service.
