Been here twice, once for a drink at a gathering after work and a second time for a quick bite at 9pm on a Friday. The difference between the former and the latter was night and day. When I was there for a pint the service at the bar was good, the music was at a decent volume, conducive to carrying on a conversation. The place I went to for dinner was a different pub– the music was way too loud(it’s a jukebox that includes a few really lame tracks, not a stereo system, so that makes a difference) and the service was pretty weak. Our waiter took our food order and I told him we’d have water for the moment, and after he brought our food we didn’t see him again! No follow up to ask if we had decided on pints or if we were enjoying our meal. The place wasn’t very busy, so that couldn’t serve as an excuse. And we didn’t get so much as a simple ‘thank you’ when we paid our bill. Also, the fish and chips were pretty mediocre, but for $ 8(daily special) I suppose you get what you pay for.

Quick review — only came here for drinks and a game of pool. We enjoyed it here. Prices were good, it’s always nice to have a pool table, and they also had a jukebox to pick your own songs(not free) which added to our enjoyment. I’d definitely stop by again next time I’m in Toronto if I want a simple place with no frills or somewhere to play pool.

Tried the Marquis Lager… tasty and the price is right for an after work or school gathering! Will return.

Great quiet place to watch the game and relax. The prices are great and the house Marquis lager is great. I come here for drinks, but the fries and burgers are nice as well. A good place to go and a very nice bar to relax in. I’m glad we ran into this place while waiting for a spot in Guu. Servers were quite friendly and knowledgeable about lagers and beers in general!

Great place during the week to watch the game and $ 4 house beer surprisingly good. Fireplace and couches to lounge on with a pool table and big screen on the ground floor. Management recently added Karaōke Wednesdays at 10pm. Second level has an recent space have a seminar or party on the weekends. Cheap drinks and friendly place!

This place was once the Barn and Stables, which was a nightclub that catered to a crowd that would explain why the size of the men’s bathroom is disproportionately larger than the women’s. But moving on to that point, it has now become a pub with a sort of British vibe to it. Ryerson Engineering students have become their new main source of income for a few reasons: — The Ram in the Rye has sucked since the start of last year — It’s not a long walk from campus — Staff aren’t asshats — $ 4 house brew that’s great for the price — $ 25REALLYBIGPITCHERS of said brew — It’s got a fireplace and some couches so you can have a nice chat with your friends around it when it’s not busy while having a pint I’ve heard the food is pretty good too, can’t confirm though since I’ve never actually eaten there. It’s just a really good watering hole, all in all. Could use some better lighting, though.
