My go-to store for paper! Helpful staff and relatively reasonable prices. selection of blank card are limited but I would say much better than The Paper Place.

Card stores can’t really differentiate themselves from one another considering they will have a variety of gifts, cards, possibly souvenirs and wrapping etc. In the heart of Yorkville, and on the lower level of stores in the area this establishment is deceivingly large considering it takes the entire bottom floor of 124 Cumberland. It’s both sides so the door entrance is really the middle of the store. The selection is wide because the size of the store is spacious by Yorkville standards. I did however find the perfect card and that’s really what matters when you go into a store like this. While I didn’t look for all brands of cards I was looking for Papyrus which they had for occasion I was looking for as well. Great location, wide variety, standard prices. Good to go.

I wish I could say that I was dragged here by a lady friend of mine and forced to browse with her through the tightly packed shelves of indistinguishable stationary, ribbons, and other everything else that is not associated with being a man. Truth is, I came here on my own accord, on a day where I browse through every stationary shoppe in the city. I take my birthdays very seriously, twenty-five is the last birthday I admit to having. I started from Queen Street West and worked my way up until The Papery, by the time I got here I was so exhausted that the I was thankful of how compact the store was. There are only two isles and a small open area. The shelves are ready to explode with colourful paper things. This was one of those places where I was asked if I need any assistance, and I replied«I’ll ask for it when I know what I’m looking for.» I needed a hundred envelopes that my female guests would love, but my male friends wouldn’t jokes about for the rest of my life. Most of the common looking envelopes were made from Crane & Co, which means that it is slightly over-priced for simplistic designs. The quality is good, but the sizes vary, and it was not sold in large quantities. My budget for the invites were $ 800, and if I purchased the Crane & Co envelopes that would have taken up half my budget. I looked around some more. Much of everything else was appropriate only for children, or very feminine occasions, such as a baby-shower, or a passion party. I’ve recently learned what a passion party was because my neighbour had one, and when she told me what it entailed, I got the hell out of the house and as far away from my own home for as long as I could. I mean… I wanted to be there, but I wasn’t invited. So there was a 100% possibility of me trespassing. The Papery retails a lot of stuff that caters to women. I love stationary, but this isn’t where I would get it from. It is among the more frugal options in Toronto, and the staff here are rather knowledgeable of their own merchandise. It is by far a one-up from any department store in terms of selection while sustaining reasonable pricing. However, if you are having a Gala of some kind and people of significance are expected to attend, it would be advisable to opt for the more expensive option of other stores in the area. No appointment necessary, economical, un-intimidating. Everything you need for small events.

It’s easy to spend way too much time in this store. I came in for one thing only: seed paper(paper with seeds embedded in it). They’re one of the only places in Toronto that stocks it. With seed paper in hand, I was ready to leave, but ended up browsing their holiday decorations, wrapping paper, stationary and notebooks. This is a dangerous spot indeed. I ended up walking out with a gift for a friend as well as the seed paper. Service is friendly and they have nearly everything you would want, in different degrees of price.

My cousin and I were trying to find a place that sold journals, and came upon this one. Beautiful little store, in a basement in Yorkville. I love the neighbourhood and feel the location is a good fit. The store has everything stationary-related– from cards and journals(huge selection, and excellent, of both) to wrapping paper and quills and ink! A wonderful place to browse in– I feel it would be impossible NOT to find something that you would want. Extra bonus points because the proprietors were absolutely wonderful. My cousin was looking for something very specific, and they weren’t pushy, but thoroughly helpful and kind, even giving us tissue paper because she had to ship something. I would come back again for sure! Highly recommended.

Though I didn’t find anything to buy during my shopping trip I will say that the store is clean and filled with many different things. From address books to moleskin notebooks to cards for every occasion. They also have stationary and supplies for gift wrapping. A cool little store to just browse around in.

An absolutely lovely little stationery-store. It isn’t cheap, but you get what you pay for: elegant paper, pretty cards, nice gifts. Keep a lookout for this one!

What if I told you you could mail a snow globe in a regular envelope? Would that amaze you? It should. It’s an example of just one of many REALLYCOOL cards they sell at The Papery(okay, so it’s a snow globe made out of paper, but still very neat-o). Even though the place is kinda fru-fru, what with its No-Cellphone sign at the door and crazy crystal peacock ornaments for amazing amounts of money, it is still chock full of pretty paper goods– cards, postcards, wrapping paper, notebooks– which sometimes you just want when you’re feeling a little fru-fru…now if I could only find a giant quill pen and a sprawling meadow to in which to write my poetry…

The Papery is super boss. This is where I get all my one-of-a-kind and super funny cards for Christmas and other holidays. They also have great stationary and wrapping paper and ribbons. You can’t help but get into the idea of gift giving when you’re in there. It’s kinda tucked away in Yorkville, downstairs. It’s very narrow and just jammed with stuff. But there’s definitely something serene about it, like you’ve ducked in out of the cold and you can’t help but meander through looking at all the stuff. I get their plain card stock and envelopes for thank you and Christmas cards every year. It’s really one of those neighborhood gems that you don’t see much of anymore, especially in Yorkville, where there’s the distinctive feeling that they’d rather bull doze over the whole neighborhood in favor of tourists than keep community alive.

One of my favourite shops in Yorkville. Such a fine selection of cards, pens, gifts, etc. I am a card person, so if you are too, you will love this shop.
