I live nearby, and the selection of cafes near in the area is rather thin, so I had high hopes for this place. It’s bright and new. The food is pretty good. The cappucino disappoints. But the service can be dismal. One day for brunch, we got through the entire meal, paid and left without one word from the server. He appeared at our table, wrote down our orders, delivered them, and then dropped off the bill. Hard to enjoy a meal when it feels like you’re intruding on someone’s morning off. Unfortunately, having been a few times, it was not an atypical experience.

Was here for a soup and sandwich. Really like how you can get the soup and half sandwich option(sometimes both is just too much!) Was happy with what I got, it seems they have good ingredients. I ordered a beef and barley soup and really enjoyed the large chunks of beef inside. Would come back here again, its pretty relaxed. Not really any table service as you pay at the till and order there as well.

It’s nice to see this business operating as a café again. During the time I lived in the area, it went through many incarnations most of which seemed to be catering. But that has all changed and it is now open during the week so you can grab a cup of joe and some lunch. I picked up a soy chai latte that was brewed from a tea bag and beautifully frothed. I didn’t have a lot of time to examine the menu but they have a selection of pastries and sandwiches. Not sure about vegetarian choices but I would imagine there are some. If you’ve just been doing a lot of shopping at the thieves or the LCBO, this is a nice place to sit down and relax alone or with a friend or two. I really like what the new owners have done with the place and I’m looking forward to spending more time there. I agree that it is a great place to people watch.
