Toben Food By Design

Tried Toben Food By Design at the Union Station Food Market (Front Street Foods). I ordered the flatbread (basically pepperoni pizza) and a side of mac & cheese. I was lulled (I think) by the promise of mac & cheese — one of my favourite homecooked items. Overall, not very impressed with the food. Prices were a bit high and the food quality was just «meh». The pizza/​flatbread was fine — nice texture of bread and pepperoni was crisp, but overall it just seemed to lack some taste. Same thing can be said about their mac&cheese — it was advertised as 4 cheese mac & cheese with panko but it was very bland. So bland that I thought about adding ketchup to it to give it some flavour.
The service was good — the line up was long but the staff seemed in good spirits and worked efficiently.

Came here for the fashionmag award show at the design exchange and Tebon was the caterer.
Probably the best food I have ever had at a venue. Everything was fresh, different and delicious. I wish they had a restaurant but instead I am writing the review here. The food was prepped very nicely with pretty presentation. Easy to eat hor d’oeuvres that didn’t cause any mess. Favourite was the ahi tuna, steak tartar and the risotto mushrooms. They did very well on catering to meat and non-​meat eaters.

Was at the Fashion Magazine #WMCFW awards soirée last night at the Design Exchange. The catering was done by Toben. The hors d’oeuvres were excellent. We tried the steak tartare, shrimp, veggie flatbread, mushroom risotto balls, ahi tuna, chicken sausage bites, tomato pastry, and the duck confit. Honestly the food was amazing. My personal faves were the duck confit, shrimp and flat bread. The food was all bite sized, but definitely impactful flavour wise. There was little to no mess in eating it and the servers came around fairly often. I’m not sure if they are from Toben, but regardless, they were very polite, helpful and funny and engaging. All in all, excellent food and service!
