Last week I received a call from a woman named Rose, she was polite on the phone and read a statement to me stating they are not employment agency etc, and made it very professional regarding they are just head hunters. So made an «interview» with her the very next day. First, got to the office, filled in some forms, and waited to see Rose which wasn’t a long wait. As we walked in a big office, sat down, she started asking me questions on how many resume I’ve sent out, and gave me some interview techniques. At first I liked her friendliness but as the conversation goes on, I realized there’s something wrong. She asked about my previous employment and I explained to her I was working for an agency that helps battered women and children. She started telling me how she had went through an abusive relationship and got better, then she mentioned about her neighbor who is going through one right now, and called her dumb that she didn’t walk away from it… she CALLED her DUMB 3 times. I was furious, right there I knew she is just making stories just to let me know she knows how it’s like to work with abused women and children. First, women that goes through abusive relationships are not dumb, second, if she really did go through one herself she would not call those women DUMB. Wow it blew my mind away. Then our conversation went from regular talking to a sale pitch. She was selling their services, how they can help me email blast to employers (she mentioned a number that is quite high) within 20 mins and each employers only gets 3 resumes from them which these employers are hidden (will not post job opportunities on career websites) and how their company can fix my resumes and offers interview counselling and all these services only cost $ 275 + HST initially and then they will bill me by email for the rest of the fees once I get hired from an employer. I can choose pay all at once or installments. In total their service cost over $ 1000 dollars and last for a year. Right there, I told her I don’t have the money and she right away said put it on your credit card. Again I refused. I told her right away that the reason for me to come here is to look for a job, and why would I pay with my credit card with interest (I don’t have the money to pay off my credit card right away), that will cost me more for your services. She knew this sale is not going through, she right away send me out the door. This so call head hunter not an employment agency is a total scam. Job seekers, please don’t fall into their sale pitch, and the services they provide you can easily get through Canada Services for FREE. They deserve no stars but I can’t post this without putting one star on it!!!
