U2 in Toronto – Innocence & Experience Night 1

The cool thing about hearing and seeing different U2 shows all over the US and Canada is that it’s interesting to see different geographical reactions to certain songs and moments.
Toronto has always been a funny city when it comes to U2, Similar love affair to NY.
For the first half of the show Bono was very very reserved both emotionally and with the notes. He seemed semi disconnected, however, warmed up to the audience after the intermission.
For a guy who has had 6 days rest between shows he sounded a little rough but did some voice preservation.
Cool moment was the wedding in the middle of the show during Every Breaking Wave.
No curveballs for first night which is typical U2 pattern.
It was a very steady and standard show.
To be honest I was a bit tired and my body didn’t have time to adjust to the time difference. My stomach reminded me of that.
The audience seemed a bit tired which was understandably so considering that it was a Monday night show. Most were recovering from the weekend.
Sound in the venue was terrible. I never favored the Air Canada center anyway. It reminds of BC Place in terms of sound which isn’t a good thing.
Fans have criticized how Bono doesn’t let The Edge do lot of singing, however, for most songs The Edge carried a lot of the vocal weight as both the background and on some of the falsettos.
