West Salon and Spa

Unfortunately this salon has seen better days. They lost their two best hair stylists a few months ago, Sara Ann and Sarah G. I had both of them dye and cut my hair with good results. Since their departure the service at this salon has been spotty.
I had an appointment booked with a stylist on their day off. On other occasions I had huge wait times to actually get my hair done. One stylist left me waiting for 15 minutes because she had to email people. I think this should really be a low priority compared to a client who is actually physically waiting for their appointment. They really need to work on their customers service here. I understand that a stylist might need 5 minutes between clients. But If I can be on time for my appointment why can’t they?
In addition the salon itself needs some TLC. I went back for numerous appointments and they had still not repaired a broken hard hat hair dryer. I person above 5′ 3″ had to lay down flat in the chair and then be slid underneath it to get their head into it.
That’s pretty awkward.

I’ve been here a few times now, and every time has been a great experience.
Priscilla is the owner, and a fantastic esthetician. She is so warm and chatty and makes every service comfortable and seem to go by fast. She clearly loves what she does and is a pleasure to spend time with. I’d highly recommend her.
After bad colour experience at my old usual salon, I made an appointment with Meghan on Priscilla’s recommendation. I saw Meghan to get a cut and some ombré highlights. She understood perfectly what I wanted, and we went through some photos together. She was great at communicating what she was doing and what to expect the entire time. I was completely happy with my cut, and I loved the colour even more than I thought I would.
After only a few steps away on my way to meet a friend for lunch, I had a girl stop me on the street and ask me where I had my colour done (since this style is obviously not natural). You couldn’t ask for better validation for a job well done!

I highly recommend Sara Anne at West for men’s haircuts. She really listened to what I wanted and gave me one of the best haircuts I’ve had in years. She charges less than other Queen West salons ($ 45 for men), and is very friendly and down to earth. I wish that I’d discovered her years ago. If you’re interested:
