The whole LCBO strike was a scam! I heard on the news that before the impending strike, sales at LCBO was at $ 56 million… for the day! And to threaten a strike right before a long weekend is just not cool, so I decided to be on a little«strike» of my own against the LCBO by going to the Wine Rack. Yeah! Take that!!! I happen to work right beside one, and I always see the sign, «Closed until 11pm!» AND«Free Wine Sampling!» Talk about being inviting… I am going away for the long weekend so decided to pick up two bottles. I walked in and was surprised at how small the Wine Rack was(located right inside Sobeys). Immediately, a very nice and informative sales person asked me what I was looking for. I responded, «one light red and one rich and heavier red.» He then proceeded to give me lots of details on the most popular wines, their ratings, their tastes, etc… Heck, anything he could have said would have sold me! And it did. Just like Meena, I walked away with 3 bottles of wine more than I had intended to purchase. Andrew, the sales person, also offered me wine samples(yes!) but because I had to work, I sadly declined. Wine Rack carries only Canadian Wines, or wines that include Canadian grapes(or is it only from Ontario?) Anywhoo, the point is don’t come here expecting to buy your Antinori’s, Chateuneuf de Pape’s(spelling incorrect I know but too lazy to check: P) etc… But, if you have gone to Niagara wine country, than you will see a lot of the familiar Ontario brands such as Jackson Triggs, Inniskilin, Strut(?), The Naked Grape, and Le Clos Jordanne. I picked up one bottle of the Le Clos at $ 45!!! I was sold on the«all organic, all natural, no pesticide…» spiel from Andrew. My experience here was so great. Andrew was very personable and knowledgeable and took the time to explain the wines and ratings. Other customers soon came in after me and he provided the same great customer service to them, while still making sure I was good. My impression of Wine Rack just went up a whole big notch from this experience. Happy Victoria Weekend everyone!

They have great sales. Somehow, I manage to always walk away with two bottles of red, regardless of the fact that I only«came to pick one up for dinner». They’re open till 10pm and they’re located inside Sobeys. How can you resist? The ladies who work here aren’t particularly knowledgeable, but really, they work inside a Sobeys, you can’t expect them to be wine sobs. Anyways, who am I to go on about this? I’m far from being a wine conoisseur myself. You think after picking up three bottles a week for the past four months I would stop getting IDed. Not so much.
