Putting along down Wooler rd .in Prince Edward County and up pops a sign ‘SLOWROASTEDPORK’ as I glanced to the left of me in a small parking was a man and a gigantic steel bbq with a cloud of dense smoke hovering above, about a quarter of a mile I slammed the breaks, pulled a ”youee” and headed back. I discovered a friendly man who had keen knowledge of southern bbq, and was very passionate about his creations. So I ordered a slow roasted pork sandwich that was heaping with mounds of meat that came with a swamp full of homemade baked beans and a generous portion of mac n cheese and pop for only 11.00 The Sandwich it self had mighty flavor even without having to squezze any of the ”FREE” homemade delicious bbq sauce .The pork was cooked to perfection and even tho I hate corn meal on buns, some how it complemented the texture of the pork. The baked beans were sweet, smokey and tangy. I had them caked all over my face the time I had finished, and the mac n cheese even tho it was a little on the dryer side twas full of smokey flavor. After I had left my post and drove a little down the road I realized that it wouldnt be right to brag when I got home about this great, off the side of the road grill I found to my Gf, so AGAIN, I made another U’ turn and headed back and got my Gf a combo which I had eaten before I walked in the door, guess you can call me The Ramblin Pig!!! Great flavor, value and portion, well that’s what I thought the first time, but when I went back 2 weeks later the flavor was bland and portion was ridiculously small. My sandwich had 3 small pieces of pulled pork that had the same texture as beef jerky but without the flavor. Infact I could hardly taste any smoke in the meat, and the 2 tablespoons of baked beans on the side tasted like they were frozen the night before but only coverd in ketchup and malasses to hide the taste. This time instead of pulling a ”youee” and going back for more, I decided to carry on with ”NO” intentions turning back. It’s funny because I didnt expect the guy to cheese me out on the size after telling him how good his bbq the first time I ate it.
