First of all, I am a garlic fingers virgin and I was surprised to discover that they are basically a buttery, cheese pizza on thin crust, cut into rectangular slices. I had the 12 inch garlic fingers and 12 inch cheese pizza with mushrooms and peppers, with pesto-granished crust for $ 19 including tax. Let’s see, what we’re the pros… well, they were both hot and fresh from the oven(had to wait about 15 minutes for them to get it ready). A lady brought it to our table for us with plates and napkins, which was a surprise considering it’s a fast-food place. Also, the garlic fingers are basically a huge guilty indulgence I hope I will never have to face again. It could’ve used more cheese, but that garlicky buttery grease was, I hate to admit, pretty good. The pizza was pretty standard. I was happy with the thickness(the garlic fingers were pretty thin). The flavoured crust was a disappointment. It was salty and didn’t do the pizza any favours. Both the pizza and the garlic fingers are greasy greasy greasy. You could soak up countless napkins with the grease! I also thought the price was a bit steep for fast-food pizza. Eh, if you’re hungry and it’s midnight, I guess you could go Greco.

Driving out of the HRM in a heavy downpour, I stopped off in Truro(parts of Robie Street were submerged) and headed for Greco Pizza/Captain Subs(cobranded store) in front of the Truro Mall. There is also a Greco Pizza Xpress(counter) inside the mall. This standalone location offers pizza(slices & whole pies), donairs, subs, pita melts, quesadillas, salads, sides, sweet treats(they have Otis Spunkmeyer Cookies), and cold drinks. Combo deals from both Greco Pizza and Capt Sub are offered here. On Toonie Tuesdays, pizza slices are $ 2 plus HST. I saw they had several kinds of pizza slices to choose from behind the glass case, so I ordered the Combo 1 a slice of deluxe pizza and a Diet Pepsi($ 4.10 plus tax). The pizza slice was reheated up in the oven and ready in about 5 minutes. The good sized pizza slice(actually cut into two slices) looked pretty good, which was topped with green peppers, onions, sausage, & bacon and melted cheese browned on top of a thin crust, crisp and firm outside and soft and chewy inside. However, the taste of the pizza was very salty and I definitely needed a cold Diet Pepsi to wash things down.
