My dear friend and myself happen upon this charmingly quaint décor store while on a jaunt promenading the main street in Unionville, but then again everything about Unionville is quaint isn’t it? Niche is smallish but once inside the warmth and the delightful flourishes of design elements provide inspiration to turn any nook in your pad into a posh paradise. My friend is entranced by the wall of beautifully Renaissance inspired decorative tiles by Vancouver artist Sid Dickens and decides to buy a pair as gifts. Niche also carries an extensive catalogue of the gorgeously upscale British textiles, paints and wall coverings label Farrow & Ball. Admittedly at first I was a little put off by all the Christmas decorations, but then again I am notoriously scrooge-esque and it is November already. By the end of our little shopping adventure at Niche, I’d become a Christmas décor convert, as they make all the chintz and fluff usually associated with Xmas bric-à-brac look more like elegant tasteful cottage-y chic. Heck, Niche may have even inspired me to put up a tree this year. Hallelujah!
