As far as coffee goes, not the best. Ordered a cappuccino and felt that the richness of a fresh recently roasted beans to brew was lacking. Presentation was nice. Ambiance of coffee house was clean and had nice calming paint colors. The most memorable was the doughnut. It was delicious and the mango passion fruit filling so rich, creamy and indulgent. The dough itself was soft and fluffy.

Love, love, love this place! Best coffee in the neighborhood! Summer or winter, it is always nice to come in. The patio is great, you can enjoy the beautiful sunshine while having a coffee. The line is usually long but the service is quick, so it’s o

I like the 49th parallel location at West 4th Avenue very much and enjoy coming to catch up with a friend over great coffee and maybe share a doughnut as well ;) The quality of the food and the coffee is very good. I usually get a macchiato, americano or latte. The times I get a pastry, to share of course, my go to choices are –Orange Pistachio Honey –Salted Caramel, which is a classic old fashioned dipped in creamy caramel –Apple Bacon Fritter I will keep coming here for coffee :)

49th Parallel is the best in Canada as far as I’m concerned, and their location here is the best café in Kits. Clean, and it’s always packed, but still lots of seating. Spotless bathrooms. Friendly staff. Amazing doughnuts if that your thing but if you’re just in it for the coffee then no better place to get a perfectly pulled espresso. Cappuccinos with just the right temperature and that velvety texture that’s an absolute necessity.

I had been wanting to try this place for awhile, needed a strong coffee so when I was in the area I bee lined it here! We had the Venezuelan coffee and my goodness! It’s a great pick me up, with condensed milk. I suppose it’s a version of the spanish latte. The service is friendly, wonderful atmosphere with respectful patrons as well. I’d definitely like to go hang out on a day when I have more time. And they have wifi. The parking is all metered in the area but stop by if you are in the hood. ;)

Long overdue review of the famous 49th Parallel coffee and doughnuts! Coffee? Dark and slightly acidic(I admit I’ve had better). The doughnut(tiramisu to be exact)? A slightly sweet indulgence that was utterly worth the bevy of calories. I really, REALLY liked that doughnut. It was soft and injected with a lovely caramel, topped with cream and dusted with cinnamon. A perfect start to my morning. It was quite packed inside, and even the covered patio was full on a rather chilly, windy and rainy day. Guess that speaks for how beloved 49th Parallel is for Kitsilano folk? Not an ideal to work, however, as it gets loud and there isn’t much elbow room. On my way out I snagged a bag of espresso beans to try my luck with a better brew at home. All I need is to courier a box of their doughnuts and I will be complete.

Didn’t like it! The coffee has a sour taste. I had a cruller with my coffee, and that was good, and the shop is cute, but there’s really nothing that great about this place. The donuts are are the size of small cakes and as heavy as loaves of bread — so no, not my thing. My cruller was good though. 1 star!

Absolutely delicious coffee, and fabulous pastries from Lucky’s Donuts. I love coming here as soon as they open at 7 am and grabbing a cheese Danish and a to-stay coffee, people watching(as there are so many folks who are constantly in line-up), and doing work on my computer. I often find myself inspired just watching other people and their interactions.

Once again– had the most delicious donuts and coffee here on a recent visit! I had a latte and the boyfriend had a cold brew. Both were fantastic(and I finally got a pretty drink in one of those amazing blue mugs). He had the pb&j donut which literally tasted exactly like a pb&j and was super delicious. I went out of my comfort zone to try something new with the peach donut with basil meringue. It was lovely! The peach could have been more prominent, but the donut was light and airy and the meringue was amazing. Already counting down the days until I can go back!

Coffee and a donut for $ 5, I’m in! It’s no secret that Parallel 49 stands for top notch coffee, and this location is a winner. While we sat inside to avoid the heat of the sun, the lovely sun soaked café had a line up almost out the door the entire time we were there. And it’s no surprise why. Tasty pastries to compliment a coffee break. Luckys donuts are the way to go. Soft and full of flavour. Almost big enough to share… Almost!

This place is always bustling with people. I had their iced Americano and their butter croissant. The croissant was well made and tasted very good, one of the best I’ve had at a coffee shop. Although I didn’t order hot coffee but I did see their gorgeous latte art on others cup. They have free wifi as well. Unless you’re working on work where you need minimal attention or if you’re the type that could work with lots of surrounding noise, I don’t think this is the best coffee shop to bring work to. Overall, I think this is a great casual place to hang out with family/friends, and would definitely come back again.

Love the Piccolo Latte which is a perfect and not too filling pick-me-up in the afternoon. I get way too full and can’t manage drinking a larger size latte. The piccolo sizeis like a cortado and comes served on a grooved cedar board along with a glass of water. Perfect with a cruller. Of course.

My maiden visit to 49th Parallel Coffee was NOT accompanied by hordes of people, as we arrived early on Saturday morning. «Early» in this case means 10am and frankly, I was happy to enjoy this charming place in relative peace. My husband and I agreed that our respective coffee and cappuccino, while very good, were a tad bitter. Perhaps I am spoiled by Elysian Coffee, as I have never had a bitter coffee or cappuccino there, but I was a wee bit disappointed with my less-than-perfect drink, as I had heard and read so many rave reviews of this place. However, the doughnuts that we enjoyed with our drinks were divine. We shared a maple glazed doughnut and a pistachio croissant-like confection and both made us wish we bought a few more. The free wifi here did not work at all. Overall, a nice place for enjoying a few treats and people watching.

I love the Main Street location, but this location is also fabulous, located at the heart of West 4th. I came later in the day and you know when that happens you’re limited for donut options. But coffee is alway on point never disappoints. I love outdoor seating and because its Raincouver its covered. This visit I tried the earl grey lavender donut and a latte. Both were lovely, the donut was delish who knew earl grey and lavender would go well together.

I had some spare moments, therefore, playing catch up on some of my local Vancouver reviews. I was recommended by another Unilocaler of this place in passing who was aware of my 100 coffee shops in 52 weeks challenge. My best friend and I frequent the Main street location, however, for a change in pace we decided to check this place out. The layout is very interesting, however, they do not seem to make use of their space which is a shame. The outside is covered. This location is always busy, regardless of what day you go. I wished that I could’ve stayed and worked on an art project, however, had to make it a grab and go situation just due to sitting space available. Latte was made to order. The fact that they serve Lucky’s donuts was really a no brianer for me.

We stopped by on our way back to our hotel after running trails nearby. Line out the door. Super cute décor, efficient staff. They have amazing cold brew and Lucky’s Doughnuts! The cold brew made my hubby extremely happy — can’t go wrong with a good cold brew. I was delighted by the old fashioned doughnut. Not donut. Not cakey, not soft, just the right bit of chew.

The doughnuts are amazing. Got the Matcha bismarck and the Stout piggy pudding(?). the last one was on feature so isn’t normally there… but it basically has irish baileys cream on top and uses guinea dough. I must have misheard because I can’t google anything on Guinea dough, but I assume that this is why the donut name is related to pigs? The drink was ok, and I’d go back if I were in the area. 2 Donuts + mocha for $ 9.90. A bit pricy, but well worth it for the special donut flavours.

Some will say that the previous business here made it a great hangout first, but as someone that lived a block away for 3 years,. I never found myself drawn in. Building on the success of the Main St. location, this one has become a major hub(and just recently they expanded into the parking lot with a covered/heated patio — full and in use early Feb). For that, I give it high marks,. anything in this city where people DO something,. I consider an asset. Also in the plus column is the fact they serve Lucky’s donuts,. my main reason for coming in the door. For Vancouver, Lucky’s is close to #1 in the donut arena IMO. In the not so good column is the pretentious attitude of some of the staff,. perhaps I’m not enough of a hipster and need to work on my beard. I also feel the pain of other reviewers,. too many Mac users parking themselves for hours on end(reminding me of Calhoun’s on Broadway),. there to be seen, and simultaneously make me leave.

Great staff, delicious coffee, decadent doughnuts, heated and covered outdoor patio on West 4th. I had a large Venezuelan with 4 shots espresso and the matcha pudding stuffed bismarck(delicious and I can pretend I’m being healthy by eating something green).

I think that this coffee shop must be cool third wave coffee shop in Vancouver. The coffee I ordered tastes very good. It reminded me of «the blue bottle coffee» in San Francisco, when I took a sip. Also the atomosphere in the shop is rustic, so I could have a great time there.
